“This hotel is close to the train station. It is in a Middle Eastern neighborhood, so most of the food is this. Unfortunately, there are a few homeless people. Some come up to you with their empty cups, and some sit on the sidewalk. The rooms are average. We put a green sign on our door as asked for our room to be cleaned, but when we returned that evenibg, it had not been done. Our first night, we did the same, and the room was cleaned. The front desk person was friendly and gave us clean towels. They are strick with their 11 am check out time. At the last minute, our train for the next morning was canceled, and we had to reschedule for a later train. We asked to stay until 12 and was told no. We were able to leave our luggage in a hallway with locks on them.”

“Room/environment: 4/5 the room we order included the kitchen and living room, and bedroom. It was overall a bit smaller than expected especially the bathroom. A sauna and relaxation area was nice and included with the room. The hotel is right in tourist area of Oberstdorf and walkable to everything. Cost: 4/5 a little pricier than some places, but definitely would it for the amenities. This includes free breakfast, sauna and relaxation area, and a €5 per person pass that covers the bus and some other local tickets like Rathaus museum entry. Service: 5/5 the service was great and they were really fast to respond through email. We believe the owner also cooks for breakfast and is always smiling when he comes out with a fresh skillet of fried eggs.”

“This is a 3 star hotel so keep your expectations low. This is quite a mixed review. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I don't speak any German but they were very patient and polite with us. We showed up 2 hours later than preferred by the hotel but was still treated well. The hallways smelled like cigarette smoke on the second floor but the rooms did not. However, the bathroom towels do smell like cigarettes. Our room had 3 large ants and a spider. The beds are really stiff which actually worked out because we all felt great in the morning. I've stayed in many hotels and would rate this a 2 for price and quality, I give it more stars for location and staff (front desk and kitchen) accommodations.”

“You're paying for the location with this hotel. Situated in the Gartnerplatz, it's a nice area filled with restaurants and bars. Sadly the Hotel Olympic doesn't live up to the expense. With breakfast included in the room fare, I expected a decent variety of food like a choice of eggs, different types of bread and even a few German Sausages for those who wanted something more hearty. Sadly the selection consisted of little more than croissants that tasted as if they were just out of a packet, a few kinds of cereal that weren't delicious, fruit, toasted brown bread and a hard-boiled egg. Those looking for something a little substantial for breakfast should look elsewhere. As for the room? It was okay, a basic enough amenity—the leaking of water from the shower onto the bathroom floor aside and the slightly hard mattress on the bed were issues. There was a large smart TV in the room, but I would have preferred a more comfortable bed. Lastly, my central reservation (pun intended) was with one staff member. You have to tap your key against a reader and twist the door handle to get in to enter the hotel. Sounds simple right? When you have a few Dunkels, and you're a bit of a lightweight when it comes to alcohol, you're not exactly thinking cohesively. The woman working at the front desk got upset when I struggled to do this task and raised her voice. As someone who works in a customer service role myself, empathy helps here, especially when the customer is clearly tired or not thinking straight. The fact that I was getting told off condescendingly for not being able to open the door properly is pretty dire customer service. When you're paying 500 euros for four nights, you expect service with a smile which this woman most definitely did not have. The next day a soberer me tried to open the door with the key and still had the same issue, so maybe the door system is at fault. Overall, the interesting art choices were the only things I appreciated about the hotel, and I'll give it an extra star just for that. It isn't every day you see a naked woman statue in a hotel lobby.”
