Hotel Ole Inn

2 Chome-1番地の1 Tokiwacho, Aoi Ward, Shizuoka, 420-0034, Japan

“I decided to stay at this hotel after hearing about its opening in 2021. Usually I would stay at the Hotel Ole in Fujieda. The room size is a little smaller than the one in Fujieda, but besides that, I enjoyed my stay. The breakfast buffet is to die for. 😆”

“6 stars! The service was top notch. The hotel feels modern and well maintained. The room is really spacious. We have a private patio facing a river. In room onsen is not as hot as other onsen i stayed. Thé public onsen was hotter. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. Taka, who served us at the restaurant, spoke very good English and made us felt welcomed. Highly recommended.”

Hotel Kanra Kyoto
4.5
( 16 reviews ) $$
Open until 11:00 AM

Japan, 〒600-8176 Kyoto, Shimogyo Ward, Kitamachi, 190

“The rooms are cute and well decorated, but lacked a bit of space and counters to put out clothes and other items. Because of the lack of floor space, we could only really have one suitcase open at a time, and barely had room to store the other suitcases. The bathroom was large and spacious with a really nice wooden bath tub. The shower seemed like an after thought in the corner and didn't have a door so water would get everywhere outside the space of the shower. Our room faced a daycare and only had light curtains to cover the windows. If we wanted privacy, we had to close the paper panels which cuts off half the room from our bed area. The service was normal and it didn't seem that the staff went out of their way to go above and beyond, so nothing memorable about that. The check in counters are all the way to the right when you first walk in which confused us when looking to check in. The location is about a 10-20 minute walk from the Kyoto station depending on how fast you walk. Don't be fooled by the temple - it actually is pretty large and takes some time to walk past, especially if it's the end of the day and you're tired. We did our laundry at a coin place 10 minutes away in a residential area which was very pretty but we didn't find anything nearby that was conveniently outside. It's not a bad location, but I would consider staying closer to the attractions next time.”

Ryokan Hakone Ginyu

Closed until 02:00 PM

100-1 Miyanoshita, Hakone, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa 250-0404, Japan

“Fabulous! We stayed for a night and enjoyed every moment. The best ryokan experience one could ask for. Our room, Kiraboshi on Level 3, was traditional and well-maintained. The private onsen offered a fantastic view of the mountains. The food was well-presented and delicious. Lastly, the service from all staff exceeded our expectations. Although some didn't speak English well, they were incredibly kind and caring (Mika - we love you!). If you plan to get massages, I recommend booking in advance due to limited space; we were disappointed to miss out on this.”

“For the price I expected much more from this hotel. We got to the hotel maybe 30 minutes before check in and they allowed us to check in early which was nice. The room was lacking. The cleanliness was not the best. When we opened the door to the room, we were hit in the face with an overwhelming terrible smell. It smelled like an armpit or like somebody had spilled their bowl of curry all over and then it never got properly cleaned up. The smell was very strong and I cannot understate this. I immediately pulled out my phone and started searching reviews for this same issue and sure enough there are multiple reviews citing this problem. I'm not sure how I missed them while researching. Thankfully in another review I read that there is a small latch on the bottom of each window that when open lets air into the room. For our first couple days in the room we had the latch open the entire time and by the third day it started to smell a bit better after being aired out. This issue alone makes it that I would never ever recommend this hotel or stay there again. Other than the smell, the floors were not sufficiently cleaned. There were small crumbs and things that were visible. We also found a spider crawling on our luggage. The bathroom was small and the toilet was the worst toilet we had had at a hotel during our 2 weeks in Japan. The shower pressure wasn't good and the sprayers needed a cleaning as the water was shooting in multiple directions it wasn't supposed to because of likely buildup in the nozzle. It was also very noisy at nighttime. The good things: the location was great and so close to the train station. Tons of shopping nearby and nice restaurants. Overall I was disappointed that for a hotel at this price and with a great star rating had so much wrong with it. There are plenty of hotels to stay at in Tokyo. Don't choose this one.”

8967 Iriyamabe, Matsumoto, Nagano 390-0222, Japan

“Came here via arranged car from Satoyama Villa for the day. Masashi-san, the service manager and sommelier warmly welcomed us to our room, 203 that had a fireplace and was very spacious and comfortably heated. We had sake tasting and Masashi-san carefully explained all the different types of sake from Miwatari and it was very interesting and we learn what is Junmai. We even got to try Junmai daiginjou which was made with three different rice and had incredible flavor. After that we had barbecue for lunch and all the ingredients were locally sourced and carefully prepared. Hot sake was also prepared to complement the food which was incredible in the cold. Despite the coldness, the staff who took care of us were all smiles so we felt grateful. After that, we tried onsens. Onsens here are a little special and not as hot as i’m used to. I actually like this better since i’m not being burnt haha. Spacious bath and Deep bath is highly recommended. After that we had dinner and was again warmly served. We had the omotenashi meal and all the dishes were incredible. I have never eaten bear meat before so it was interesting. Overall, very satisfied with the full day arrangement. I highly recommend people to come here even though it may be difficult. Staff english was very good so you will be well taken care of and winter period has many delicious fish incorporated into the meal.”

“We had a really amazing experience at the Gora Hanaougi! From the moment we entered, all of the staff we interacted with were extremely welcoming and helpful. The property itself and rooms were immaculate, and we also really enjoyed our dinner there. The private onsen overlooking the mountains was specular. We were initially a little apprehensive booking this given the price point, but the experience was well worth it! Thank you!”

“We decided to go here for one night to experience a ryokan with private onsen to celebrate our honeymoon. There wasn't anything extra for our honeymoon ( towel Swan or flowers somthing like this) it was recalled until we said that it was out honeymoon. I'm guessing this place just doesn't do that even though I mentioned it in message. The whole experience was nice and very fun . The service was good, accommodations were made for food allergies. We got lost a couple times. The room was very large great view, but it smelled weird. Felt a bit odd not knowing some etiquette for certain foods and other gestures. Hopfully we werent seen as odd, we just don't know. Yukata ran a bit small for our larger bodies. Food tasted terrific and dinner was brought to us in our room the first evening thankfully. We were late to breakfast, but they were also accommodating. The garden and koi are beautiful, there IS FOOD for the koi at the front desk. I didn't know this until we were leaving, I thought the koi seemed very friendly lol! Happy we stayed, I don't think we will go back as it felt a little outside our comfort zone, but we will suggest it to others!”

“I love this place in the world, Kaga, and have stayed here many times. This time, I experienced Kintsugi for the first time. I heard that the staff at Kai Kaga have learned kintsugi themselves and are repairing their dining utensils, and I was impressed that they take such good care of their expensive utensils. The room, the food, the public bath, and the Kosoyu bath next door were all great! My favorite Kai Kaga! I’ll visit you again❗️”

“This hotel was amazing! The staff goes above and beyond to help you have the best experience there. Rooms were clean and spacious. King bed and sofa bed was great for 3 people. The club level gives you access to the lounge for drinks like soda, coffee, and water and some snacks. The shuttle was about 20 minutes to the Disney parks and can be hectic getting on when the park closes but it is a reliable option for transportation. I would stay here again and again”

The bathtub was nice, but the shower is easily my favorite showing experiences in all my 46 years so far. I felt like I had been massaged and stream cleaned when I was done. What an experience.”

The location is a little bit quieter than the main tourist districts but we didn’t mind that because the hotel was so nice, the staff were so great and ultimately you are a few minutes away from two metro stations. The design is phenomenal and the cocktail bar and brewery are excellent bonuses. As was the record player in the room! Staff were great and made our stay very enjoyable. Highly recommend!!!”
