“Great food, friendly staff, good atmosphere. Rumpus is a small place, very intimate not good if you're in a wheel chair or need help walking as there are quite a few stairs to get to the dining area. But that is the only negative i can say about the place. The food was lovely and a good portion size. It was my daughters birthday so we brought a cake and after we'd finished eating it was brought up and the girl bringing it was singing. We did have to bring our own candles though (which they accidentally kept lol).”

Place looks small from the outside but don't be fooled, it's huge inside. Cheers is very popular and reservations are advisable.”

“This was our first visit after wanting to come for a while - and it certainly didn't disappoint! Food and service were excellent, with staff being very attentive despite being a busy night. We were seated in the smaller upstairs section, which was a bit quieter and also had a few booths. Can highly recommend the Ninja Wings and also the chilli cheese fries - we had them as sharing sides and the portion size was excellent and very generous for the price. Overall, it was a very good value night, especially considering the choice available. So many options for the burgers, but there is definitely something for everyone! Although we didn't sample it, there seemed to be a good selection for vegetarian options, and even a vegan option on the specials menu. Puddings were great and HUGE! Next time we will be opting for one Sundae with two spoons! Already looking forward to our next visit!”

“Or room was much bigger than we expected and was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The breakfast was the best I've had in any BnB and my poached eggs were cooked to perfection every time!. The pub has a good menu of pub classics to enjoy. Parking is round the back of the pub which is easy to access and has plenty of room. I'll definitely stay again....... Thank you Rose and Crown 👑 🙂”

“If you could give 6 stars this place would definitely get that , the food was 100% amazing and the service was equally as good 👍. The burgers are all 2x3oz patties which are obviously freshly made and cooked, I had the PBJ and my wife had the Blue with a portion of Beer Battered onion rings between us . This is a prime example of having a small menu and doing it to the best of your ability,we got in early doors and there was a full list of bookings (on a Tuesday night) so get booked in and don't miss out on probably the best burger joint I have ever been in”

Do come hungry… portions are generous and delicious! Our party tried loads from the menu. Double burgers, chicken burgers, vegan burger, Greek Salad, fries and kids (cub) menu. Milk shakes too. I will definitely come back. Apologies for anyone else eating in the small restaurant on the day we were there. We were a bit loud. “My partner & I dropped in without having booked a table, on a Saturday evening (we were visiting the area & was suggested to us by the hotel we stayed in. We didn't hold out much hope of getting a table due to not having prebooked & apparently being so popular. They were kind enough to offer us a table, if it wasn't going to be a drawn out social affair- the table was already booked by another party for a certain time - (we just wanted to eat & go after having such a long day walking so it worked out well). The table for 2 are only small - 2 plates & a couple of drinks & no room for anything else....luckily the table next us had finished so they dragged over a surplus table or else we would have been stacking plates on top of each other due to lack of space) we didn't order a main or dessert, we ordered 4 starters to share between the 2 of us. Chicken skewers, onion bhaji, calamari bites & cheesy salsa chips (those aren't the exact name of the dishes on the menu-but that's what they pretty much were & it does give a brief food description of what each dish is) The food was hot & well presented. Overall we enjoyed the food. The price is about what you would expect to pay anywhere...approx £7.00/£8.00 per starter For 4 starters & table water, our bill was £32.00 (odd pence) We were seated downstairs & the toilet is situated upstairs (something to consider if steps are a hindrance for you). The service was steady & the atmosphere / deco is kind of low lighting with a 'trendy moody edge' feel. On visiting Whitehaven, we noticed a lot of the eateries are pub food oriented. Compared to other towns we visit, there aren't many 'restaurants' so if you're looking for a 'romantic feel' restaurant we didn't find one...but our visit was only a 2 day visit. Parking is available around the vicinity but it is paid parking no matter the time of day.”

“Spent a lovely afternoon here to send off a retired colleague. Staff were really helpful, courteous and welcoming. We started with the lamb kofte skewers with raita, mint and pomegranate molasses and bbq glazed chicken wings to share. Lovely flavours! For mains we had their chicken and ham hock pie with buttery mash, gravy, savoy cabbage, peas and bacon. My colleague had a chargrilled flat iron steak with grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, lemon and tarragon butter, watercress and fries. Excellent stuff. All the food arrived at the same time. Their food was amazing quality, tasty, inspiring, fresh and plentiful, service was wonderful, wish it was my local! Highly recommended!”

“Me and my partner went here today while in Leeds. The atmosphere inside was very calm and relaxed. The people working there were very professional and welcoming. We both ordered a burger and fries, didn't have to wait long for it to arrive which is always great. The burger I ordered was one of the best iv eaten in my life. Everything felt super fresh and the food went down a little too easy, I could have probably hit a second burger up it was that nice. Didn't cost an arm and a leg either so will deffo be coming back and bringing more people next time.”

“This place has appealed to me for a while due to the fun, hearty pop culture aesthetic of it. Needless to say I was very impressed with the amazing food, chill atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff. The issues we found however were food took a while to arrive to our table, a couple items were initially not written down in our order and we were slightly charged wrong. Don’t let these issues affect your view of this great place though, since we found all of them were quickly corrected by staff who were very apologetic. Now the main thing which we loved, the food. Everything was cooked incredibly hot, juicy, tender, along with tasting deliciously seasoned. When u ask for your chicken spicy here they will listen to you. The spicy fried chicken as mentioned and non spicy chicken are greatly filling, they will give any chicken place a run for their money. in our case this time the food easily beat any other fast food of a similar genre. Alongside this the variety in sides and sauces is very tasty and perfectly crisped and seasoned. I find it great how a place like this known for American oriented food. Will have something like salt and pepper fries, which taste better than many other establishments version of it. It’s important to mention for those conscious about the spending, all the portions are very large, fairly priced and filling. You’re going to get your moneys worth whether it’s through food, (or the soothing strawberry smoothie I got). Next time you want American fast food, or just a relaxing place to chill with friends this is the place to try.”

All prices excellent value, much better food than many Cambridge restaurants at much better prices. Lovely people too. Take a trip and visit. Free car parking in the evening nearby too.”
