“Absolutely loved our experience at Foreign and Domestic tonight! Happy hour is awesome and very worth it! Half off appetizers and wine glasses from 5-6:30 during the week. The popovers and gnocchi are unbelievable! We both loved the cozy restaurant and being able to watch the kitchen do their thing right in front of us. Amazing service and food! Very cool that this place has been featured on shows like Triple D and Bizarre foods! Will definitely return!”

“Great, fast service. Good quality food, although I think the portions could be larger. Many windows, good lighting, plenty of seating.”

“Busy and lively restaurant, with great customer service and scratch made food. I went for one of their specialty brunch tacos, along with their version of a pig in a blanket (slices of ham wrapped inside of a pancake). The Mrs. went for an egg BLT. The BLT did come dressed with mustard, which did come to a surprise, but she overall enjoyed it. I enjoyed my pig in a blanket, as the pancake tasted great and overall a good portion of food. I was however not too thrilled about the specialty taco, as the brisket chunks were dry. Every other component was exceptional though. In the end, I recommend. 4.5/5”

“Excellent service and food. The food is served family style to be shared. We had 5 dishes: crab fingers, roasted broccoli in a salad, roasted yams, shrimp toast, and Texas quail. Everything was well seasoned with a lot of flavors. Service was exceptional.”

Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers

“Ordered The Maniac Combo online for a takeout. Supposed to be 6 chicken fingers but when I got home and opened the box, there was only 5 fingers. Definitely very unhappy to not get what I paid for.”

“Wonderful and indulgent bougie brunch spot. This spot gives country club dining room, but modern, vibes hard. The prices are big but so are the portions. $20 for an artichoke appetizer is pricey. Full stop. That being said the portion was massive. I feel like this is a spot designed for sharing. Everything is framed as individually made meals - but the portions are epic. In a time where some spots are making appetizers more of the amuse-bouche variety, Tiny Boxwoods is the rare high end Austin dining spot that is going for quantity. I would get that artichoke as an appetizer for 2-4 people. Or as a main for 1-2 if you added a a side of protein. The black drum was the catch of the day. Wonderful cook and presentation. Love the Gulf fresh fish. Pro tip: sit in the far right corner for some of the best views in the place. It is a little nook with garden and restaurant views and fantastic natural light. Ambiance is 10 out of 10 here. Come to lighten your wallet and leave very full. You will pay more but will get more for what you paid.”

“The chicken tenders were tasty, well spiced and clearly freshly made. The menu is very limited though. Also, our waitress completely forgot of our drinks, we had to remind her twice that we are still waiting on our beers which resulted in us finishing our meals before we got drinks.”

“Literally just came back from eating here tonight and I LOVED IT! I went with my partner and the food was amazing. Everything was so different than what I’m used to but they brought all these beautiful foods and they were absolutely delicious! The servers were on top of it and I have absolutely no complaints! If I could leave 100000 stars I would! Definitely going back! ✨”

“I will only eat pork belly here, now. This dish was perfect! So many places in town have turned pork into sweet melt-in-your-mouth gelatin, which isn’t something I enjoy as a main. The pork here is genuinely cooked to perfection. The savory apples and bed of greens transported me to both Germany and my childhood in fall. Magic. The steak was excellent, as were the biscuits and beet butter. You can’t go wrong with their menu. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for our service experience. Despite reservations, we were seated in an awful spot (does dinner on the sidewalk sound appealing). Our server took our order for drinks and vanished, then our food order and disappeared, again. We had to wait a while after the food arrived for silverware… we will hopefully have a better experience when we return.”

“The service was great. We came in right before they closed and the guy was still willing to make anything we wanted to order; as well as being super friendly. Unfortunately the food was not great. The fried fish was the best thing we ordered and it was just ok. The fried shrimp tasted like the kind that comes in the frozen box at Walmart. The stuffed crab was not even edible. We've eaten here before and it was good. Not sure what changed but it wasn't a good one.”

“Service was exceptional. The young lady explained the menu and we ended up getting 2 flavors that weren't on the menu. Lemon pepper honey garlic and another i can't remember. She let us know the food would be about 12 minutes which wasn't an issue for me because she was upfront . The wings were a nice size and the chicken egg rolls were amazing. The waffles fries were good too. Will definitely be back when I'm in town.”

“Edit. They reached out below, I followed up, and no one has responded. Not surprised at this point..... While the service was great, the restaurant and food were left wanting. The hostess couldn't be bothered to use her words and just looked at us upon arrival. This should have been my first clue. We were sat at a dirty table with food on the seat and an oily based substance was on the table. She would not offer to clean. The waiter was the only redemption of this experience. He was nice and although not entirely knowledge did his best. The food was served on dishes that were poorly wiped down and the drinks were served in absolutely filthy glasses. We requested new stemware as the outside of the glass was absolutely disgusting. When asked about Ingredients we were given multiple contradiction answers. If you have allergies ask before you order for sure. Bar drinks were eh. food was eh.... server was great so I don't expect to see him if we ever return. But between you me and the fence post we most likely will not. Weird comment, the flatware is small. Like oddly small for restaurant service ware. Basically I most likely would have had more enjoyable of an experience at Panda Express or In and Out. Which is saying something.... also I don't complain hardly at all, about anything, look at my reviews. So when I do....it's warranted.”

“Beautiful atmosphere so we were surprised it was mostly empty for a brunch buffet. Especially at a reasonably price as it is. Beautiful room and furnishings. Lovely. Lovely mimosas, good coffee. A rather sparse buffet of oatmeal, pancakes, scrambled eggs only (not other options), sausage, bacon, potatoes, and premade processed Sysco-style breads for toasting, plain fruit. No desserts or omelettes or anything such as that but that would have been great for me...had the bacon not been literally rancid and the bagels horribly stale. We all noticed the issue with the bacon but I was quite sure they were aware of it, because of the issue with the bagels. I grabbed one and it was so hard, so stale, that I said out loud, without realizing it "Oh my God, these are horribly stale!" We were there right when they opened so they had clearly reused them, rather than them being out all day. Fortunately, a staff member did hear me and asked if I would like a fresh one. She got out the bag to assist me which was very kind. She likely replaced them after that. The eggs were good, though not hot, and the potatoes were as well. The items are not served in chafing dishes which may be the cause of the spoiled bacon if they reused it from the day before, or God forbid now that I think about it, last week. It wasn't a question or a maybe, the bacon had gone bad. And it was evident. All food is in cast iron pans, not chafers to keep the food fresh and at controlled temperatures. Initially our service was great but we waited for 40 minutes after finishing to get our bill. No refills, no check-ins. ( We did have both initially but then all staff were absent and we could not leave.). My first old plate sat under a new one because there was no service to remove it. By 11:30, we wandered around the empty restaurant looking for anyone to help us so that we could leave, as two of us had rides waiting. We could not find our waitress still but were assisted by another waiter who went to find her. It was totally empty by that time. I would rather pay double for fresh food and some thought of the offerings, such as an eggs benedict or an omelette station or some fresh pastries or desserts or some interesting other offerings like perhaps migas....it was so plain, so simple, and sadly 2 items being reused when they were VERY bad, that we would not return. I take that back, I would try cocktails here in the evening, because we love the atmosphere, but brunch is empty for good reason so each of our table of 8 would need to decline that option.”

“The food here is great! I used to love their chicken before I was a vegetarian. Now I can still eat here with their multiple vegetarian options, including Beyond Chicken if I get a craving for meat. I even got to enjoy part of a Disney movie on their TV while I enjoyed my lunch.”

“Stumbled across this place while looking for a great bday dinner. Overall it has a lot going for it. The interior of the restaurant is eclectic, unique, but still inviting and warm. You can tell this spot has its locals and constant patrons. Our server was great, attentive, nice, and fast. Our food was solid, we had: - pork chop : the pork was fantastic! Brined to perfection. Will say the potatoes could have used a bit more seasoning since they felt a bit of an after thought but didn’t ruin the dish. - burrata salad : sizeable portion of food and was a perfect balance of flavors. Had some nice salty vinegar flavors in the arugula. Tomatoes were fresh and it was all fantastic. Our cocktails were also very good. Can’t say enough positives about that experience. Only thing that felt a tad odd is the music tbh. It was a mix of old classics with some more 60-70s rock which tbh felt polar to the overall vibe. It’s a spot you’d imagine music sitting between jazz and a soft techno atmos. Just a small thought.”

“Not the best customer service. I removed tomatoes from the pizza and asked to be substituted with Jalapeños and she charged me $2 extra for the same. When the pizza was ready there were not jalapeños for which I paid extra, when I told her she added from the top for me. The pizza was good, but I feel it’s over hyped. Overall paid ~$24 for medium pizza, I think you can get better pizza somewhere else.”

“Great dinner on my trip to Austin. The most impeccable service all around. The host was so accommodating and personable as we were sat and out service continued with our waiter John B. He helped us choose our menu and was went above and beyond to make sure our courses were separate- even got our bread expedited without asking. The food itself was great. We got the southern chicken, schnitzel, pasta, and smashed potato’s. The best were the bread and chicken in my opinion. A couple espresso martinis to end the 10/10 night.”
