Dane County Humane Society

“Clearly this animal shelter doesn't care about their animals as my family were adopting a cat that was abandoned by their owner for 9 months and right when my older sister was about to pick up the cat today, the dane county humane society calls her and says that the owner of the cat wants their cat back eventhough we had already paid for the cat and did the adoption papers. But apparently they have a policy where if the original owner of the pet wants their pet back they'll give it back to them but this owner left their cat at their house alone and abandoned. This cat is honestly so sweet and shy and he's so cute I just can't believe they are just going to give it back to the original owners as when I first saw this cat he was skinny and had a rash on his nose.”

“They helped us find miss mocha and she has been the perfect addition to our family.very friendly caring staff so happy these amazing people take such care with all of the animals who come in. I hope that they can continue to bring families closer . ( yes to me animals are not pets they are family) when we first adopted her we were told her name was Mindy which is a real cute name read the previous owners info and it said her name was mocha. I read it out loud and she started chirping head held high as she was proud of the name. She has become a cage mate and sister to our squeaks and is actually helping the other piggies get along better together. Mocha truly is a blessing and glad we found her.”

“My daughter and I really enjoyed adopting our kitten from here the whole process was great from start to finish. Everyone was very nice and helpful. You can tell staff really cares about the animals which is awesome especially because they stress bringing the animal back if for some reason down the line you can't have them anymore. Which definitely will not be the case here LOL but it's nice to have that option for people who need it. Thank you so much happily ever after for helping to get these animals into good homes we will definitely be back!”

“I have both adopted from and fostered for ECCHA and truly appreciate the services they provide for the animals and people in our community. They do their best to reunite lost pets with owners, to assess physical and behavioral needs, and to adopt into forever homes. I look forward to their new building, making it easier for the employees to help pets in the Chippewa Valley. My sweet cats, former ECCHA animals.”

“What a beautiful and clean shelter. The staff was super friendly. I went in and made a donation. They have so many beautiful cats. If you are thinking of adopting, go there. I can't have pets in my apartment, and it made me so sad to see how many they have. I was so impressed how well they are being taken care of.”

“This is my first time using them for my dogs, I brought my 9 month old German Shepherd female in for spay..... Everything went extremely well. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful, I needed a bunch of paper towels to clean up the back of my car after my dog dry heaved in the back, they even offered to come out and help me which was amazing! I will definitely be using them in the future.”

“>>> = First OFF KNOW = <<< : I really hate writing any NEGATIVE review. I had faith for this shelter but sadly was VERY disappointed. # 1 The adopted cats legs smelled/stank of his own urine, which I quickly cleaned. # 2 Truth is the cat I adopted was "said" to be fellow cat "friendly". That was NOT the case. It attacked the older resident cat even after a proper gradual introduction. I said whom ever socialized this cat failed. That comment was dismissed quickly and she tried to blame my introduction skills, more than once, not knowing ALL the cats I've owned during the many years. Sadly after bonding w/ this otherwise great cat, I had to return it for THEIR anti social mistake. Then after the original adoption no refund policy fee they had the nerve to charge me and additional $35.00 to return the cat back !!! = When it was returned, I asked "if" I could adopt another cat there and I was refused as she rolled her eyes as "if" now, I no longer qualified, aka like I did something wrong? (???!!!) = LIKE WOW = Two weeks later, in the returned new cats relisting ad, it stated "has to be the only cat". Yes, someone really dropped the ball and YES = I paid for it. I just wonder how many poor good heart others get/got caught up this "return" for even more $$$ game and never write/say a thing and just write it off as Oh well ? SMH = Sadly I'm sure I'm long forgotten by now but boy be sure ALL my funds were quickly taken and never returned for their mistake. >>> = PLEASE JUST BE AWARE !!! THEY WILL LIE TO MOVE A TROUBLED CAT = <<< Both cats in the picture are NOT the shelter cat but proves how social my resident cat was previously. Now after being attacked by their shelter cat it has taken many months to get the fear of ALL cats of my residential cat. SMH !!!”

“I tried getting a kitty and the lady I talked with told me they don't let people adopt cats or kittens to a family with no other cats in the house. Even after my application got approved seemed like she didn't want to adopt any of the cats or kittens to my family. We have no cats pretty sad. I will not recommend this place to anyone.”

“My kitty has so much curiosity, she escaped one day. Not exactly sure how she managed but she did. I made several posts on Facebook looking for her, asking people to keep an eye out, praying no one took her to keep her, while also praying that she didn't get hurt. I checked the Humane Society page, but didn't see her. Then suddenly someone tagged me in a post the next day on the Humane Society's page & there my cat was. Oh my goodness.. You can only imagine my delight. I messaged them immediately. And was there to pick her up the following day. They gave her vaccines because they didn't know if she was a stray or not, which I did appreciate, but at the same time worried that it might cause green to her being she had her vaccines already, but they assured me she'd be fine. They also offered to place a chip in her, so that in the event she were to escape again.. The Humane officer or someone with a scanner could use their scanner to find out her info & bring her home. I'm very grateful to the person who found her & turned her over to the Humane Society, as well as to the Humane Society for taking such great care of my cat while she was with them for a short stay.”
