“We stayed one night for my husband’s birthday and had a wonderful time! It’s definitely a splurge so not for casual or longer-term stays, but for one or two nights it’s worth saving up for for a special treat. The room was a great size, and everything felt very new and worked well (like being able to stream music from your phone to the TV, all the modern lighting functions, etc.). Super comfy bed and pillows. Very nice modern bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. The design of the room made it feel really special and fun. Excellent attention to the small details. We visited the cocktail bar, Pier 42, and had amazing drinks with wonderful service. The breakfast buffet is absolutely one of the best we’ve ever had at any hotel! Especially the scrambled eggs and all the Norwegian goat cheeses. Plus bagels!! Hard to find in Norway :) Again, very friendly and welcoming service. Overall for our special occasion visit, it was absolutely worth the cost, especially because of the GREAT breakfast and kind staff. Would absolutely recommend and hope to stay here another time soon!”

“Really nice, stylish hotel right in the heart of Bergen. It is excellently located within walking distance of all the main attractions and the staff were super helpful and friendly. The rooms were also really nice, clean and stylish. However the single beds were really too narrow and therefore not very easy to sleep on. The breakfast buffet was also very good with lots of options to cater for all. I definitely recommend it and would stay there again without any hesitations.”

“If I could give 6 stars for service, I would. The receptionists on duty were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and just plain nice to interact with. The room was good, bathroom nice and spacious and the breakfast is top notch. One piece of advice for management: it is fantastic that you have chargers for electric vehicles, but they are nearly useless as quite often parked full with normal cars. On Saturday when we arrived, all spaces were parked shut with ice vehicles . I would strongly recommend to have some arrangement with a local towing company to enable your receptionists to do something about it (have the cars towed away) . As it is now, the receptionist have to deal with unhappy guests and that is not fair to them.”

“Nicely priced campsite overlooking a coastline frequented by otters. One kitchen, two shower/toilet cubicles and two toilet-only cubicles — the campsite is quite small, however, so we rarely had to queue for anything. Nice minimum spacing between pitches to maintain privacy. Reception is open for two periods per day, but there's a sign up inviting you to find a pitch in the meantime, so we meandered back at 18.00 when reception opened and paid then. Friendly staff.”

“What a hike to get to the hotel, steep hill, but the view was pretty. I had booked a Jr suite and had higher expectations. The bathroom was from the 80s. The floor plan of the suite was odd. Tiny little bedroom and large hallway. No view at all. The pool and sauna was amazing, and had some really nice features there. We did spend some time up on the 9th floor terrace. You can see for miles up there. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We ate dinner at the on site restaurant, and the hostess was rude. We did tell her, and she apologized vaguely. Food was great and so was the breakfast buffet. Plentiful with local food and lots of healthy choices.”

“There were some issues with the central sunscreen control, a thing that seems a bad idea at the outset to me. Would have preferred to have control of it myself. Food was good. Honestly, feel the hotel is kinda pulling down the restaurant, because while the hotel is a fairly basic box for storing your employees out on travel, the restaurant was slightly albeit pleasantly fancy. We had a veggieburger and the fish soup. Veggieburger was from somewhere… I didn’t investigate the implication of its origins, but it was kinda dense. Good, but dense. Mushrooms and grain kinda thing, I felt, but don’t quote me on that. (He said to his imaginary audience). Fish soup had shavings of some sort of root vegetables garnished atop itself. Fennel, maybe. Soup had salmon and shellfish. The food was served by a friendly women, who was perfectly hospitable and also gets extra marks for coming back and saying there would be a buffet style dinner service in an hour, in case we would rather do that. Reflecting on it now, I am suspecting that maybe the kitchen asked her to ask us if we wanted that, because buffet style dinner service is maybe a lot of work. I don’t know, never cooked for more than four people. Got a bit hectic, though…🤔 Anyway, before I take my stream of consciousness elsewhere, I’d like to add that having stayed at some Scandics now, I feel their design aesthetic has started to grate on me a little. Might just be a me thing. … Having reflected on the restaurant, I’m bumping my rating to 4…”

“Be aware that laundry service will cost about $50. When we asked about laundry, we were told that they could throw in a load with their usual laundry. We, stupidly, didn't ask about cost. At checkout, we found out was $50. Most expensive laundry load I've ever done! Other than the very expensive laundry, we really enjoyed this hotel and the history of the site. The building was once a farm and the peacefulness and the view from the back patios and decks was very nice. They also provide a big free Norweigen breakfast.”

“Update: the hotel management level is also racist because they responded to all reviews except mine while their receptionist was rude and bullied me. This is unacceptable and I definitely won’t recommend anyone staying at this hotel. I stayed 3 nights here during my business trip to Oslo. It was mixed feelings but I will start with what best about this hotel and why you should consider to stay here: Amazing breakfast with various options, good location and bus stops nearby, surrounded with restaurants and grocery stores. Spacious bathroom. Downside: - Dirty blanket (have black spots) but not big concern for me. - Most of staffs are friendly and helpful but there is one receptionist, whose name is Gintare - she is racist and rude, as well as unprofessional. I booked double room w breakfast, and when I arrived she assigned me the twin room. I thought it’s fine because I travel alone anyway. However, when i got to the room, the single bed is too small so I went back to reception and asked if I can change to double room as I booked. She was angry and scold me and insisted that I dont have right to ask changing room and there is no better double room rather than the small corner with small window and facing to a staircase. She was assigned me the room out of all her anger and hate. No surprise that I got a super small room (822) in the corner with very little sun light and low ceiling. I was too tired from long haul flight and it’s 5pm already, so save my energy and not asking change again. Because I know she will just make things difficult. Next morning at 7:30am, a gentleman in receptionist changed the room for me to 9th floor. And it was double room with big window, bright and much bigger. Clearly Gintare was lied about no available double room and only twin room left when I checked in. I’m happy and thankful that not all receptionist is like Gintare. All of them were friendly, helpful and nice, except her. Not end the story here. When I check out, again it was Gintare shift. She was just standing there and ignored me even I was with my big luggage and definitely looked like I need to check out. But instead of support me or ask me handover the key. She let me waited for 10mins. I didnt want to be rude, so patient waiting for the 2 guests finished their story abt their flight, then she keep talking and telling them about her story. No choice but I need to cut her and ask abt check out. Overall experience in Scandic Vulkan is nice and satisfying with facilities and services, but Gintare ruin my stay here 100%. @Scandic Vulkan manager: if you need more information, feel free to add the email address here, I will share more details via email.”
