“Beautiful resort with a wonderful vibe. The swimming pool is fantastic too. My only criticism was with the way the staff handled the ramifications of cyclone Jasper. We had no power resulting in no hot water, food services or the ability to charge our phones. I understand that everybody was under pressure and in a difficult position, however, the staff completely disregarded and lost interest in their guests and we felt like we were left to fend for ourselves. We noticed an abundance of staff walking around the resort cleaning up the mess, but they gave us zero attention and we felt disregarded. My other issue is the lack of communication between staff members. We would resolve a query or issue with one staff member, but this issue would reappear with the next rostered staff member as the messages were never communicated. We were also offered a refund to checkout early, but they haven't refunded us and keep making excuses. Absolutely pathetic! I'm also very surprised that they don't have a generator like the other resorts in the area.”

“The room my partner and I booked for 6 nights was listed as fully self contained, however did not have kitchen facilities and was old and dated. The word “resort” for this accommodation is reserved for the lagoon pool only. Your room will only be serviced if you are there 5 or more nights, as stated on the info you find in your room after checking in. Ours was not serviced at all and we were given 1.5 rolls of toilet paper for 2 adults for the time we stayed, and we had to ask for more from reception during staffed hours, too bad that we’d run out in the middle of the night. Expect to find snakes within close range of the living facilities and not just on the golf course. Don’t bother reporting them, because wherever you may be coming from, the condescending attitude you will get from reception will make you feel like a complete idiot. “What do you expect, I have a snake in my back yard we get them all the time.” While this may seem standard to the people that live in the area, most people are actually there on holiday, and that can be quite confronting and scary. Not that this particular staff member cared about that. It’s best to hire a vehicle as this location is not within walking distance of very much, but parking is an absolute joke, something needs to be done about this, Eg: assigning a single spot for each room, any other vehicle or vehicles that are too large that they can’t seem to fit in just one spot (deliberately or not) should be parked on the street. I don’t think I could be paid enough to rebook at this accommodation again unfortunately. It put a real dampener an experience I’d really been looking forward to for a long time.”

“The rooms, pool and grounds were great. Rooms come with everything you need. Pool gets very warm by mid morning as it's only shallow at 1.3 metres. We were lucky to have great views of the golf course and mountains. Staff are wonderful and very helpful. It is a little way out of the main street of Port Douglas so you'll need to drive into town although there is a local bus and a shuttle for $11 each way pp.”

“We spent 8 nights at Freestyle very recently. We had a thoroughly positive experience. The service was excellent from the moment Anne warmly greeted us from our shuttle drop-off to her helpful shuttle pick-up. She was at the property and available throughout the day until closing time at 6pm. Jason was away from the property, so we did not get the chance to meet him. We were especially grateful to Anne's great information about all that the area has to offer. Our one bedroom apartment was very comfortable, well kept, and spotless. We enjoyed cooking and preparing meals there often. The kitchen was stocked with all the appliances, pots, pans, bowls, dishware, etc. that we needed. We loved it's proximity to the main street, marina, and 4-mile beach. We did not have a car and could easily walk to all these places within 10 minutes. And, we could get a local and affordable shuttle quickly if we chose not to walk. We can't say enough good things about our stay at Freestyle and would return there in a heartbeat! Anna & Leigh”

“Great location, only a 15min walk to shops and very close to the beach. Rooms were clean but average. No daily room service is provided, I would suggest a larger bin for guests. Bathroom amenities were great. I was in a B room without a veranda & I found the A room veranda looked straight into the room which I found very uncomfortable. For privacy there was only a roller blind so it needed to be all the way down with no light, or have it up & risk being exposed to next door looking straight in. Service at front desk & pool bar were always friendly & helpful. There is no option for a hot cooked breakfast only continental available. No restaurant. It was ok. They need new toasters, was appalled how old & dodgy they were, kept tripping the metre. Pool was nice & swim up bar great. Happy hour for drinks at the lagoon bar were still quite expensive, I was expecting half price cocktails but they were only $4 cheaper. Enjoyed my stay at the Mantra. Not sure I’d book there again.”
