“The hotel is situated conveniently waterfront on the harbor. Our room 602 on the top floor did not having outward facing windows. We did have two skylights to provide plenty of natural light during the day. There were automatic metal shutters that could be closed to prevent any unwanted sunlight in the morning. Our room slept two adults in a full , almost queen sized bed. Our children were thrilled to stay in the bunk beds. Our family had room 603 next door. It was comfortable with a full sized bed, along with a day bed that converted to a large twin. There was a couch and a courtyard facing window. You could view the Marseille Notre Dame Cathedral.”

“We stayed at La Magdeleine for three nights at the end of April and had a wonderful time! We were there as a family and our children loved the park, the pool & and the various games that were at our disposal (boules, darts, balls..). It was warm enough to enjoy breakfast everyday outside - which was a real delight! The location is ideal to discover the area. The room was really nice and spacious with a great attention to detail. We hope to return and also get the chance to try the restaurant. Overall a wonderful experience!”

“The hotel is conveniently situated as the old town starts just across the street and there is a store next to it. It is close to the bus/train station and the university. Everything is within a walking distance. Breakfasts are great with food being refilled constantly. Rooms are not too big, so there is a sense of a typical French hotel, but recently renovated and pleasant. Bathroom was clean and functional. We had a small problem with hot water, but the reception gave us a nice discount for the inconvenience. Last but not least, the service is great and the staff is very helpful showing a lot of efforts to make your stay a great memory. And all this for a reasonable price. Fully recommended.”

“Pictures are self explanatory about the carpeting that was in my room, tobacco smell everywhere. My room was also noisy from some ventilation and/or heating machinery. Constant noise throughout the night. If someone talks in the room nearby, like it’s happening as I am writing now, you can clearly understand all is being said. “No idea why the poor reviews from others - we found it great for the price. Sure, the room itself (family size) was what one might expect for only a 2-star hotel: decor a bit dated, no coffee maker, etc. But the room and hotel as a whole were clean, and very conveniently located within walking distance to all the interesting parts of town. The breakfast served outside was fantastic and very good value. The hosts were polite and very helpful, suggesting excursions as well as driving directions for our onward journey. They even reached out a couple of days beforehand by SMS to check everything was OK. Parking was convenient with a multi-level deck on the corner of the block about 50m away from the front door. Overall excellent value!”
