“Well what a pleasant surprise . I had an overnight stay here and I wasn't disappointed at all. I was welcomed with a friendly member of staff at the reception desk , who took my details and booked me in. The reception area was well presented and nicely decorated, for both Christmas and in general. My room was fantastic and really spacious. The room had all the necessary items, such as tea and coffee and the bathroom had plenty of toiletries and lovely nice clean towels. I ordered breakfast in the morning and again I was met with a friendly member of staff who showed me to my seat and took my order. The food was good, hot and fresh. The price of the room was fantastic value for money and I would definitely stay there again if I was in the area. The hotel also has its own car park. “Arrived at hotel no sign of our booking, showed email and receipt and this still wasnt good enough. Night porter wanted me to pay again. I said No, then he agreed to give us a room but wanted me to leave my credit card behind desk - I said No, then he asked us for our ID and I showed him my driving licence, this wasn't good enough - he wanted identification cards. He then wanted to keep hold of my driving license - it was now 1.30am and I wasnt very happy! I refused and then said he can photo copy it - he said he didnt know how to do this and then took a picture of my driving license! - room isn't great! Dated, carpets filthy!”

“Lovely gardens with inspirational planting and such a nice feel to it. We enjoyed exploring the gardens and our dogs enjoyed a walk too. The visitor experience is highly commended, the lady on the gate/ shop was just nice and very friendly and recommended a route to walk. It was lovely to see a slightly senior lady enjoying the gardening jobs and made us appreciate that this is a small family run garden. There was a little tea room with friendly staff, a gift shop, plant nursery and an ironworks.”

“Excellent, clean hotel. Recently constructed, so one of the very best Premier Inns around. Service adequate. Parking is a big problem. The hotel should have some arrangement for cheap/free parking nearby, as this is not a hotel in a city, and most people will be arriving by car. The multi-story is not suitable for vans of large 4x4s. Price was excellent.”

“The positives: - free parking - friendly staff - great location - loved the drawing room The negatives: - the state of the bathroom was absolutely disgraceful. There is no excuse for having mould everywhere, especially when guests are paying £128 per night. - the walls in the bedroom are unclean - the pool is freezing cold despite being advertised on the website and room information booklet as heated. The door to the female changing room does not close. Pool tiles are coming off and left loose at the bottom of the swimming pool. - there are very few plug points around the beds.”
