“I am very thankful for the customer service I have received so far from David and Valerie at Republic at Alamo Heights. They have been friendly and proactive as they processed my application, lease and all the move-in nuances. Everything moved along very quickly with detailed instructions and move-in orientation. I had no issues on move-in date with parking and elevators and so far everyone in the community has been very nice. The apartment itself is very well lit, the layout is practical, and it is well insulated. I hear nothing from the pool or the hallways… I do hear footsteps from above tenant and wish they were more considerate but can’t even tell if I have neighbors next door. I’ve had no issues with the keyless method, even during the move when I was locking and unlocking the door through the virtual hub. I wish neighbors would be better at following the easy and common sense instructions for the valet trash. Realistically, that’s not quite in the administration’s hands, it’s on each of us being considerate of a sense of community. I really like the concept of a lounge / resort pool and a separate lap pool. The gym is reasonable for an apartment complex, has the basics, considering the price we’re paying here. Thanks to the location, we have options. Which brings me to location… incredible variety of options for dining , quick shopping needs and a skip and a hop to the Pearl and museums. This place has been a great value so far and I look forward to further exploring the area. Thank you David and Valerie for all of your help!”

“Early this mornings. Our water heater had a ruptured line. Water everywhere. I called it in spoke with Gabby front desk and she mention she saw my email. She had already given the order to maintenance . I hanged up my call with her and a few minutes later a knock. That fast! Robert right away. Brought everything he needed and. Have to say he did this job fast. Repairing and cleaning very fast and professionally done. Good job Robert. This is how things get fixed fast here. From manager Sandra to personal and maintenance. This community has good leadership running these apartments. I don’t really have had any issue’s since I signed our lease. They fix repairs fast. Well done. Retreat at Hart Ranch.”

“I’ve lived here for about 3 years now. I love the location, but there are some unresolved issues with loud noises. First of all, the walls here are thin so you can hear everything, including your neighbors talking, playing music, and “random” outside noises. People are allowed to rev up their modified racecar engines, and nothing seems to be done about it. I’ve sent many emails to the apt staff, but there is no solution in sight. Waking up to the extremely loud car engines on Saturday and Sunday mornings is the worst! Don’t move here if you like peace and quiet.”

“For the most part I have been okay with living here, I had some issues for quite some time with the front office not being more persistent about disciplining my neighbors upstairs. Whom, I had made many noise complaints about, but eventually the situation was handled and never had to deal with them again. The maintenance workers respond to & complete tickets rather quickly, and the front office people I’ve met over the last year are friendly. I’m curious as to why the front office people have changed so often it seems, it’s been difficult to build good rapport with them due to the constant personnel changes, but all of them have been friendly and professional. Not a bad community, people don’t seem to get too wild or routy at night or at the pool, so that’s also appreciated.”

“I don’t even know where to start, everyone is getting their garages broken into and hundreds if not thousands of dollars of tools stolen, cars broken into, and the staff seems to be doing nothing about it as the gates are open literally 24/7, they’ve never worked since I moved in. They have a security guy driving around but apparently he forgets his glasses at home because he hasn’t caught anyone. I don’t feel comfortable leaving anything of slight value in my truck or whatever anymore, not only because of my break in, but because of the other ones I’ve seen / heard about, and because my sisters neighbor got their basically brand new Audi broken into INSIDE their garage. We’ve been told several times “oh the gates will be fixed next week”, however when the time comes around they’re still wide open for all the thieves to come and take whatever they want :D There’s been bird poop all over the staircase and railings up to my 3rd floor apartment for months, and when I ask when they’ll clean it up (mind you they said it would be cleaned months ago), they say “we can’t because the birds are endangered”…. The birds are long gone, just their poop remains. I’ve put in several maintenance requests to get the same issues fixed multiple times, to which they’ve told me “there are no issues” and one time they even said they fixed the issue but when I got home, the issue was still there (refrigerator sounds like a typewriter and a squeaky 1987 Nissan Sentra belt) This is probably a me issue, but I find the touchscreen deadbolts very annoying, especially in the cold, as half the time I’m entering my code it seems to touch a number up or down from where I press. I don’t understand why they can’t be physical buttons. Parking is a huge issue for anyone besides the building 9 residents who basically get their own parking lot. I know it’s not completely their fault, but the dumpster is a huge eye sore for half of the week when it quickly gets filled and the gate is wide open for everyone to see piles of trash scattered everywhere. They obviously freshen up the apartments in between tenants, however it’s a very sloppy job. In my apartment atleast, Every single outlet cover is installed at an angle noticeablely wrong from across the room, there’s paint splatter all over the floor from repainting before move in, rust on my shower ceiling, and poor seals on the patio door that cause the knob not to latch properly which could be a safety issue for anyone who has kids. Side note that’s not an issue but rather a gripe ; there’s a pool table in the lobby that would be fun to use on late nights with some friends, however it’s only available when the office is open, so basically if you work a 9-5 there’s no pool table for you to enjoy D: ( I know, huge bummer / deal breaker) The units come with washer and dryer included which is a nice touch, the washer is a top loader and the dryer seems to collect allooooottt more lint than my old Samsung dryer (I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing so take that as you will) Having mentioned everything above, they’re not the worst apartments in the world, I don’t mind living here, but I will not be renewing my lease again. some big redeeming qualities are the gym is nice, AT&T fiber kicks butt, the cabinets and cupboards in the kitchen are modern, and it is pretty quiet around the complex, but in my option it’s not worth $1400+ a month for a 3rd floor 1 bed 1 bath that’s slightly outdated compared to anything else around this price point, especially considering the lack of security.”

“Update: the poop is still in the hallway. Maintenance just as on top of things as always. Good job y’all. Not even sure how many people’s cars have been broken into over the past few weeks while the gate has not been working, I lost track. It’s at least six that I’m aware of. But the apartment not only refuses to help, they don’t even have security cameras so there would be no footage to review anyway. And there is supposedly a mythical security guard who appears once in a blue moon but obviously does nothing to deter criminals. The BARE minimum that an apartment can provide is peace of mind that you’re safe while at your home, or at least provide reassurance when they refuse to fix the security measures that have been broken for months. But the lovely manager at Southtown Flats dismissed our worries with, “tis the season”, and that there’s nothing they can do. A trail of diarrhea greets you when you enter the side door, along with mold growing along a urine soaked wall. (See pictures) Just an embarrassing place to be, and it’s so obvious the management doesn’t care about keeping anything clean or presentable or functioning. For 2k (!) a month you can either live in an apartment that smells persistently like excrement, and where cars get broken into constantly, or you can choose any of the other apartments nearby that don’t neglect their community’s basic requirements. Will post more pictures as things continue to not get fixed.”
