Rupert Museum

Stellentia Rd, Stellenbosch Central, Stellenbosch, 7600, South Africa

“Beautiful experience with amazing exhibits. Enjoyed the Pierneef Station Panels immensely and thatfuk that they were preserved given the way the station has gone. Irma Stern works were also striking. And all that for free entrance.”

Anton Smit Studio

Closed until 09:00 AM

Black Eagle Ln, Aquavista Mountain Estate, Bronkhorstspruit, 1020, South Africa

“A pleasant place to visit to see the sculpture of Anton Smit. From 20 December, the venue was closed to the public until after Christmas, yet the website doesn't say this. We were able to still walk around this open sculpture park, neatly laid out to display the works of Anton Smit mainly. There is a small gallery where other works can be seen. There is a small art cafe, which was closed when we visited. Best to check before you arrive. The venue gardens are well maintained and worth a visit. Access roads are in a fair condition, apart from the occasional pothole. The venue is near Bronkhorstbaai.”

Flying Dutchman Funicular

Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point, Main Road, Cape of Good Hope, Simon's Town, Cape Town, 7995, South Africa

“I am assuming that this refers to the tram that goes up to the lighthouse and down again. It's a comfortable, scenic ride and a lovely experience especially if you are accompanied by very old people or very young kids. Important to note: kids under six can ride the tram for free , obviously accompanied by their adult.”

264 Fox St &, Berea Rd, Maboneng, Johannesburg, 2094, South Africa

“The vibe in this part of Johannesburg on a Sunday afternoon is really awesome! I do feel though that there is a reluctance to improve basic aspects such as proper and adequate seating in the market under the guise of being true to the rustic and hippie nature of the place. Food options in the market are pretty interesting and decently priced - usually about R70 per serving. The bar on the roof top is always very poorly stocked so don't expect fancy options. R44 will buy you a single shot plus a chaser in a plastic tumbler with ice. After 4pm the place gets really packed with a lot of very experienced and skilled dancers. A lot of the people are regulars and know each other from their respective dance clubs already. Incredibly friendly people all around... but don't mistake the friendliness and someone asking you to dance for flirting. It is also not a great idea to go as a couple if only one of you is a dancer and the one who isn't a dancer does not understand what is really going on there... rather both attend dance class first which is less of a culture shock in terms of personal space invasion. You will quickly realize that the selection of dance partners here has nothing to do with skin colour, age or gender. Naturally, men are predominantly paired with women but because of a lack of enough dancing men to go around, women tend to pair up on the dance floor as well. There are some craft shops as well that might pique your interest - take a look around!”

Alice Art Gallery

( 10 reviews )

54 Dryf Ave, Ruimsig, Roodepoort, 1734, South Africa

“Sometimes by pure luck, someone mentions or recommends a place when you are in the area. This happened to be the case when we visited Alice Art Gallery as we had time to kill, so we were told to look out for this sign. It was still early morning but they were open along with loadshedding affecting their lovely quaint coffee shop Café d'Art. We ended up spending so much time here. Loving the quirkiness of the signage all over the premises. Taking a slow walk in the fresh crisp air, taking in the sights and sounds. Walking amongst some STUNNING art pieces which I wish I could afford. Then just looking out at the space, they even have a small kiddies area. The deck of the coffee shop also has its own art pieces, and some lovely plants surrounding it. There is also space inside if you want to sit and stare at the paintings. It was a no brainer to sit outside. There were only a few other people sitting around. Drinks, we ordered what didn't require electricity, and to eat of course i ordered the carrot cake along with a scone. Loved the presentation of the scone and its quite big. Although my slice of cake was thin (according to me) it was rich and tasted lovely. Our waitress Precious took her time as she could see we were just enjoying the open space and appreciating the art pieces. We could walk freely between the rooms without someone constantly walking behind you It's really one of those hidden places that you would not normally pay attention to. I'm so glad we were told to make a stop here. Awesome morning. Stunning art/talent 🎨 #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TheFoodMusketeerExplores #TFMAliceArtGallery #TFMCafedart”

Ratanga Park

( 16 reviews )

4 Conference Ln, Century City, Cape Town, 7441, South Africa

“Ratanga Park is a lovely place for a picnic and is perfect for the kids. There is a tram that takes you around Canal Walk, which is a fun little experience, taking you back to the days when trams were popular. It is exceptionally aesthetic and clean. The park is also used for concerts and other activities. It has an art tour as well. Check it out!”

By the afternoon I received the message that it has already been dispatched and is estimated to be delivered by Wednesday. INCREDIBLE! And this is a personalised item! Art Lovers Guest House & Restaurant
4.4
( 16 reviews )

89 Bree St, Parys, 9585, South Africa

“The environment is tasteful and elegant, and the friendly staff and good waiters make the experience all the more enjoyable. But the real star of the show is the food - it's absolutely brilliant. The flavours are bold and the presentation is beautiful. You can tell that the chef takes great care in selecting the best ingredients and crafting each dish with precision. However, during my second visit to the restaurant, I noticed that the lamb shank dish had been changed and I preferred the previous presentation. While this was a bit disappointing, it didn't detract too much from the overall experience. My only other criticism would be that the prices have gone up a bit too much. While the food is definitely worth the price, it would be nice to see more affordable options on the menu. Overall, I highly recommend Art Lovers Guest House & Restaurant for anyone looking for a delicious and sophisticated dining experience. Just be prepared to spend a bit more than you might expect.”

Ster-kinekor Brooklyn Commercial
3.8
( 8 reviews )

338 Bronkhorst St, Nieuw Muckleneuk, Pretoria, 0181, South Africa

“The staff were extremely rude. The supervisor, Magdalene was especially disrespectful and argued with much attitude that we could not bring in tap water when the signs clearly state that you may not bring any food “purchased” outside of this cinema. They made us pour out our bottles and purchase their R25 500ml disposable bottles. The movie we went to see started 15 minutes late with minimal communication from the staff. We were 2 of 6 people in the entire cinema, far outnumbered by staff and we were treated absolutely poorly.”

“The intercom at the gate wasn't working, had to search the telephone number from the internet, so I could call and request that they open the gate. But the lady was well mannered, she even apologized for the intercom that's not working. She welcomed us from the parking lot.”
