The Art House
4.7
( 16 reviews )

19/21 Margaret St, Wyong NSW 2259, Australia

“Attending the Central Coast Coral Festival at the "Art House" was a truly remarkable experience! This venue is a masterpiece in every sense, offering an exquisite blend of art, music, and hospitality. The sound quality at the Art House is nothing short of world-class. The music resonated beautifully, and every note seemed to fill the room with enchanting melodies. Whether you're a music connoisseur or just someone who appreciates a good tune, you'll be captivated by the sonic excellence this place delivers. The seating arrangements were comfortable, ensuring that every guest had an unobstructed view of the stage. The lights added a mesmerizing touch to the performances, enhancing the overall ambiance and creating a magical atmosphere. One thing that truly stood out was the artistic pictures displayed in the lobby. They added a unique touch of culture and creativity to the entire experience, making it more than just a concert but an artistic journey. Surprisingly, the Art House also boasts an in-house cafe that offers a delightful selection of wine and beer. This is a rarity in venues, and it's a brilliant addition that elevates the overall experience. Sipping on a glass of wine or enjoying a beer during intermission just adds to the charm of the evening.”

“We booked the opal mine tour and sculpture tour as a package which saved $10 per person. After an introduction we worked our way around all 26 chambers to view the 900 sculptures hand carved in the sandstone walls. We then explored the lower level old mine on an informative and entertaining guided tour with John. Recommended!”

Roundhouse
4.4
( 16 reviews )

Level 9/282 King St, Newcastle NSW 2300, Australia

“I booked this restaurant for my first wedding anniversary, and they actually asked me to provide details as we booked the $160 degustation menu. I told them the occasion and that my wife doesn't enjoy certain meats. I should have known the service was going to be poor when we were put at a table far from the magnificent view, despite there being free tables right near the window for hours. Our waiter was unshaven, unkempt and had bad breath. We asked for cocktails which took 50 mins to arrive and were overpriced and poorly made. There were six courses, and while the first few arrived quickly, and after they swapped the raw fish for my wife to prawn (when we told the waiter that we left details about my wife's dietary preferences, they said 'I haven't checked my notes'). We waited 2 hours for the final four courses, during which time we were starving. When we asked for some bread, we were served but charged almost $10. The kitchen would not substitute the lamb main for my wife, despite the food's lateness. All that we were offered for all the issues were a cheap glass of the house wine. Despite spending $400, and admittedly the food was largely delicious, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Maybe because of the lack of fine dining options in Newcastle they feel they can give poor quality service, but if this was Sydney they would be dead in the water. If you have a big event, avoid at all costs. Edit: Please do not be fooled by the generic response by the owner to my review: I posted this seven weeks after the event, not "several months." They obviously have the time sheets for the employees on for that night, so if they cared to follow things up that would be a good place to start!”

Timezone Chatswood
4.2
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

Westfield, 1 Anderson St, Shop 605, Level 6 Victoria Ave, Chatswood NSW 2067, Australia

“So disappointed with Timezone Chatswood. We come here nearly every Saturday to play. We love playing the claw machines. Some day with good luck and some day with bad luck which could all be understandable. However came today and found they have updated the machines and apparently the payout rate too. This machine I played twice, totally scanned 29 times just by myself. In between there were also other people playing for another 20+ times at least, still didn’t get any one out. After I gave up, another couple played for another 10 times, still no luck. Can you believe it - about 60+ times with no payout. It was ridiculous for such a small plush toy with such low pay out rate. We have been a long term customer at Timezone but this is ripping off. We observed other machines too and same situation. For about an hour of our stay there there was nearly no machine going strong claw. Will honestly not come to Chatswood Timezone anymore. Go to other stores if you don’t want to get ripped.”

Brett Whiteley Studio
4.7
( 10 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

2 Raper St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia

“Yesterday we visited the Brett Whiteley Studio in Surry Hills, which is currently showing Chapters 1959–1969. It’s all works made by Whiteley between the ages of 20 and 30, during an intensive period of travel and artistic experimentation. What I liked about this gallery was the way it was arranged. For me the pieces that spoke loudest emanated from Whiteley’s time in Fiji, and a 1968 collage called New York 1. I found the bath nudes too abstract. It’s a multimedia gallery where you can see both a wide range of his art, plus the place where Brett created it, lined with quotes and images he found inspiring. In the small gift shop you’ll find the book that inspired our secret garden visit. Entry is free.”

“Ravishing library, lovely interior, felt the vibe as soon as I came in. Plenty of space to sit, excellent to read and work individually or with a group. Wide range of books and easy to look for. Friendly staff, didn't have a chance to talk with them but they smiled at me every time I passed by. There's a small playground for the children so it was quite noisy sometimes. But most of the time, it was remarkably quiet. I enjoyed my time there and would certainly comeback.”
