2212 N Clybourn Ave, Chicago, IL 60614, United States

“Unfortunately did not have a great first experience here. In fact, we left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. My friend and I came in unsure of what exactly the place was but it seemed like a nice “vibey” place to snack and read, like a cafe? bookstore? bar? meeting place? library? No idea lol! We found it on social media. We were stopping by half an hour before our spin pottery class started and had only been there maybe a total of 30 minutes. Half of which we spent looking around at books to purchase and going to the bathroom before a place on a couch finally opened up for us to sit and read. The other fifteen minutes is what I’m about to explain now: We sat listening to the music and looking through our books for not even 10 minutes before a lady with short, blonde hair approached us off-puttingly with “So What is it you’re going to order?”. Mind you, we hadn’t been handed a menu and at the time did not know there was a drink per hour minimum (again, regardless of that, we were sat for less than 10 mins). I’ll just do a back and forth of the exchange. Her tone was sarcastic and condescending and we were genuinely confused as to why. Me: “Sorry, we didn’t know we had to order something right now” Her: “Well, this IS a business” Me: “We’re aware… we just didn’t know what type of place this was. We’ve never been here” Her: “I’m not sure what you’re used to but we are at capacity and would rather have PAYING customers here” My friend: “Oh….kay. Yeah, um we’re actually leaving” and the lady proudly prances off to greet other customers. I was so upset by the interaction, no longer interested in purchasing the things I had in mind, so I went to the bar and asked to speak to someone privately. I already assumed that the blonde woman was likely the manager (She WAS). She walks up with the same snarky demeanor as before but you can tell she didn’t expect to be pulled aside. I just let her know how to properly speak to customers and how incredibly uncomfortable she made us. That it’s not okay to insult potential customers based off of personal dispositions, but luckily for her, she chose someone who will sit her down the way a teacher would a student instead of yelling. It’s just sad how proud she seemed of herself when she treated us that way and even sadder that a new, young customer such as myself would need to breakdown the issue to her. A simple “Hi! How are you? We actually have a food and drink minimum for seating. Here’s our menu so you can get a chance to look” would have gotten the message across just fine that we should order soon. She just stared at her toes and apologized for her approach and for not handling things better and then we left. It just sucks that we thought we found a cool, quaint place but left feeling unwelcome. Although we didn’t get to try anything, the food smelled like it could have been good. I wanted to try the pizza. Also, there seemed to be a lot of things offered there, we just didn’t get to experience that the way others did that night. The music was loud but there were private rooms you could reserve. Anyway, we’re still unsure exactly of what this business is categorized as since no one took the time to explain when asked, but it seems centered around money and lacks overall customer service. The bartender with red hair was nice though! And the nice guys at Jimmy John’s next door really redeemed our experience at this place.”

“Overall nice venue when it comes to appearance. Great place for Caucasian and similar ethnic backgrounds. Not a great place for African Americans. The staff treated us horrible there when we were there working an event. The management even treated us horrible When We complain to them about how we were being treated and the service that was being provided to us was not equivalent to the people we were working with. All the staff were caucasians and the wait staff were College age teenage students that all had a preconceived notion of how to deal with African-American people. They were misinformed. It's just unfair to go to places like that and get the type of treatment we got.”

“Absolutely love Rolling Stones Chicago’s Superstore! Fantastic place to shop for vinyls, both vintage and new releases plus collector vinyls. Also available are CD’s, fun merchandise, movies, a listening station, and more in a great environment. You can spend a-lot of time in here. There were all ages here; saw some 20s, 30s, 40s, and a couple of seniors. This store has been here for a very long time but some of us collectors are going full circle and collecting vinyl’s again and rediscovering places again. I personally collect vinyls of artists that I have seen in person in concerts - many of them vintage, and was able to cross 2 of them off my list. I still like to hold the artwork in my hands unlike digital music. In comparison to my other 2 vinyl stores I frequent this would rank 1 in selection not to mention the fun inside. Rolling Stone has the most to offer IMO overall so will return and I took my daughter with me who ended up loving it too. For those that have to drive a bit, right next door is a really authentic good bakery where you can stop in after and buy a pastry to take home as a little bonus.”

“This little amusement park is the perfect size for toddlers and great age appropriate activities for littles. I would say ages 2-7 is the sweet spot for Pirate’s Cove. They everything from a merry-go-round to paddle boats, trains, bouncy house and more. If you haven’t been, do it! It’s a super fun family activity, and they have a picnic area on the pirate ship. What’s not to love?!”

“I love the atmosphere @ THE TAT CAVE It was my first time getting my nose pierced and Mike was my piercer and he made the entire process so much better, he’s very funny and has a way of making you feel welcome/very comfortable. He’s very knowledgeable and told me everything he was doing before he did it, very quick and surprisingly not painful at all. It’s been 3 days now my nose doesn’t hurt at all and is healing fine. Upon entering I was greeted with a smile definitely would recommend this place. I’ll definitely be returning for soon for a tattoo 🤗🥰”

“It was an amazing experience to attend the third Friday open house at Zhou B Art Center this past week. The five floors of the building are a magnet for artists, collectors and art appreciators. There was so much going on it was hard to take it all in and I can't wait to attend the third Friday in October. I was amazed at the quality and variety of the artwork and it was fun to meet the artists and speak to them about their art.”

Stay And Play Game Cafe

3932 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60618, United States

“Absolutely loved Stay & Play Game Cafe and wish we had one like this in OKC! The cafe was a board game fanatic’s dream! It was so well organized first starting with most popular, then categorized not only A-Z but also by family friendly, large group, 1-2 players. The displays were amazing and the games went on and on. What we appreciated most about the cafe was they thought out key details such as having large tables so that no matter how large your game was, you had plenty of space for your game without pieces falling everywhere. They had a full restaurant, bar and coffee. We opted for bar, coffee and dessert. The flan was the best I have ever tasted and was so fresh, the coffee was was also very bright and flavorful. Next time we will come with an appetite to try their food as well. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable and even took time to teach us a game we were starting to learn. They also have servers who can help explain games and suggest games. We actually tried a new game we had never heard of thanks to our amazing server. The wait staff also clean up, box up, and put away your games once you are done. I think this definitely helped keep the games in such pristine condition that they were. Keep up the great work, Stay & Play! Can’t wait to come back next time we are in town!”
