“Oh my, what a treasure City Guide Tours is! We went on 3 this visit and each one was fabulous! I do not remember all of our tour guides names except Gail, but the 3 women were amazing! They were each so well organized, researched and friendly. If you want to see and/or learn about San Francisco I cannot think of a better way. I wish we had known about these tours on previous visits. The tours are all donation based so folks of all income levels can participate and give according to their ability. What a gift and resource this volunteer tour program is!”

“This place is AMAZING! Specifically, if you're a crafter or an artist. There is so much to see! I probably could have gone through the whole place 5 times and still wouldn't have seen everything. Make sure you don't take someone that isn't a natural browser or explorer - you'll regret it if you do. The items they stock are incredibly varied and pretty well organized once you understand their system. They get a lot of donations from companies cleaning out their warehouses, so some items are commercial grade and unopened. There's many materials that are simply unavailable to consumers, so that's a major bonus too. The sheer amount of variety can be overwhelming so go in with a plan. The entire store is a well of inspiration. Prices are fantastic, which is amazing considering a vintage pair of non Levi's in SF runs about $450. If you live locally, you can take advantage of some really cool classes they offer that are taught by real artists - some are well known even. Don't delay a trip to this amazing shop containing a cornucopia of curious and delightful goods!”

Arch Art Supplies

1490 17th St, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States

“An absolutely amazing "glow up" from the old location in a warehouse attached to a towing company. The new location in the ground floor of a newly built five over one is flooded with natural light, great vintage style displays and an incredibly deep selection of everything essential for most art school majors. They also have a robust collection of odd and rare art supplies and tools to get you inspired to experiment. Now that Flax escaped to Oakland, THIS is the best art store in SF by far.”

Gray Area / Grand Theater

2665 Mission St, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States

“Great programming, space, and sound but be very conscious of what you’re wearing to the venue as there is no guarantee of a coat check, has little ventilation, and it gets HOT when you’re dancing hard.”

Landmark Building C, 2 Marina Boulevard Suite, #260, San Francisco, CA 94123, United States

“Great space for big events. That includes the Guardsmen Xmas tree lot, an annual tradition for us. Free booze!”
