Almeida Theatre
4.7
( 10 reviews )

Almeida St, London N1 1TA, United Kingdom

“First visit to the Almedia Theatre. Front of House staff. Friendly and helpful. Cafe/bar reasonable I think the theatre is across two buildings. But the performance space in one. Show: Portia Coughlan A moving and difficult at times play. The cast is excellent. Especially, Alison Oliver as the titular Portia. The play set in Ireland through I've not met an Irish woman called Portia. Kathy Kiera Clarke is excellent in both comedic parts and the more serious elements of the play. A very powerful play.”

Open until 05:00 PM

Swain's Ln, London N6 6PJ, United Kingdom

“Highgate Cemetery is a historic burial ground that is considered one of the most magnificent cemeteries in London. It is divided into two parts - the West and the East. What sets Highgate Cemetery apart is that it is the final resting place of numerous famous Londoners, including Karl Marx, George Eliot, Michael Faraday, and Tom Sayers, among others. During my visit, I spent over three hours exploring the cemetery and its various sections, including the Egyptian Avenue, Circle of Lebanon, and Terrace Catacombs. I would highly recommend visiting this remarkable cemetery on a sunny day and perhaps even joining one of the guided tours available. There is so much to see and learn about, and I personally cannot wait to visit again and delve deeper into its history.”

London Review Bookshop
4.6
( 8 reviews )

14-16 Bury Pl, London WC1A 2JL, United Kingdom

“just a review of the cafe: - walking in from the bookshop, smell of books fades to a small but bustling little cafe area with plenty of sunlight - drinks are a bit pricey, but they are large. the iced coffee and the turmeric tonic were £4.50 each. the turmeric tonic was very good. fruity, sweet, and refreshing. - they dont allow outside food which was a bit annoying (they informed me in a sorta rude way) so bumping down a star”

“It is a very memorable and multifunctional museum. The first floor has a splendid art gallery with gender and sex history themes exhibit, and on the second floor, they have a bit of a collection related to science and medicine history on the second floor, and on the top floor, there is a very nice reading room that also displays the number of oil paintings and is there a pillow on the staircases where you can just lie down and read a book. There’s also a library, but this time I didn’t go because it was locked up and it seems like it is a very nice library. The gift shop is also worth checking out today for some unique products. This place is a part of welcome trust it’s not just educational, but also enlightening.”

Rosemary Branch

“We went here on Sunday as a group of 6. The pub was busy with the rugby being on but we managed to find a table. There was a good selection of beers and the staff were friendly and service very good. The chicken roast was fantastic, not dry and absolutely full of flavour that you could tell of its quality. Others at the table had the beef and said this was also brilliant. The sides were also great and really elevated the meal. Will definitely be going back and looking forward to trying more of the menu.”

Cecil Sharp House
4.6
( 10 reviews )
Open until 11:00 PM

2 Regent's Park Rd, London NW1 7AY, United Kingdom

“Visited a Family Barn Dance event, so take this review with a pinch of salt if you're not dancing with the kids. The main venue is the large Kennedy Hall, with stage, surround seating, and of course room for dancing. This event was well-organised, with caller and musicians up on stage, two or three helpful staff milling around just in case, and (usually but not today), a cafe downstairs serving cold drinks to sweaty people. The format for this event was about 90 minutes long, with each section lasting around 10 minutes, first starting with a detailed explanation of each dance, then the band joins in for the main thing. Now and again, a short break allowed some breathing space before we set off again. The English Folk Dance and Song Society events here include concerts / gigs, but many participatory events from dancing to instrumental and singing groups. Have also attended here for an evening comedy performance, which was crammed full. The place is accessible as far as I could tell, with a lift from street level to all floors. The nearest tube is Camden Town on the Northern Line, about 10 minute's walk away. What's nearby? You're very close to Primrose Hill, Regent's Park and London Zoo.”

Newport Street Gallery
4.6
( 8 reviews ) $$

1, 9 Newport St, London SE11 6AJ, United Kingdom

“Excellent contemporary art gallery housed within a renovated Victorian scenery-painting studio in Vauxhall, south London. The gallery was developed to show art work in the private collection of Damien Hirst. The current show of works by British artist Brian Clarke is excellent. Clarke is best known for his large-scale stained glass work and there is plenty of this in the current show. But there is also a lovely wall of 327 framed collages of flowers and nature. This show is open until the end of 2023 and is well worth a visit. Entry to the gallery is free.”

“Theatre as it's meant to be! Intimate theatre in the round. Home of quality productions, with some of the best actors around. Whole place oozes charm with friendly staff in abundance. “Marvellous venue you are really in the performance at any level. It’s round the corner from the main NT entrance but the security there aren’t overly helpful in finding it. Pictures from top level all seats had good views but in the bottom you are almost show of the show.”

Paper Dress Vintage

352a Mare St, London E8 1JB, United Kingdom

“Cute little indie venue above a boutique shop. Very compact and the toilets are tiny but at least they were clean. Not accessible at all but it is what it is! Emailed in advance to ask for chairs, which other people were sitting in. We spoke to the guy behind the bar who asked them to move as we felt bad! All the staff we encountered including security were all really lovely. Pretty great sound quality as well and had an amazing night.”
