“This is the older of the churches that make up Salamanca Cathedral. The Old Cathedral dates back to the 12th century when founded by Bishop Jerome Perigord. It was built during the 12th and 13th centuries and is mainly Romanesque in architecture with some Gothic features including the vaulted nave. The Old Cathedral is dedicated to Santa Maria de la Sede (St. Mary of the See). The Old Cathedral can be visited as part of a combined ticket (€10 per adult) that includes entry into the New Cathedral, cloister & historic chapels as well as the Episcopal Palace exhibition rooms just across from the cathedrals at Plaza Juan XXIII. Highlights for us were the frescos in St. Martin's Chapel and the beautiful ancient chapel of St. Barbara. However, most impressive is the apse altarpiece, a cycle of 53 scenes known collectively as the Final Judgement by Italian painter Dello Delli. This is a remarkable cathedral treasure, worth spending some time to enjoy. The cloister area was mainly closed during our visit but we enjoyed the small museum setup with a handful of rooms containing cathedral antiquity and artworks. Then, through the shop and over to the Episcopal Palace to see the exhibition rooms and artworks there. That wraps up your visit to the Salamanca Cathedral complex.”

“I was not sure at first if we should go but eventually it worth so much! Sadly we went to museum at the evening so did not had much time. If you love video games you can simply spend here all day, this museum is epic. There are many vintage computers and consoles including some very rare things and you can play alll of them! We were almost alone in the museum so had a chance to try everything we wanted. I guess it is different on high season and weekends. Floor 2 is all about FF series and even if you are not a fan you will be admired to see rare collection items and limited series consoles! Floor 3 about modern games and sadly we have so little time here but it looks like a lot of fun already. The stuff is also super nice and amazing they even let me finish the game before closing in :) if I ever will go back I would love to have more time in this museum. Also our huge appreciations to stuff and owners to keep all of this in great shape and for creating fantastic atmosphere!”

“Interesting and well preserved ironworks that has been transformed into a small museum. On Sundays there is a performance where the water powered machinery is fully operational and there’s an exhibition on how metal tools were crafted. Very instructive and interesting for the whole family! There’s also a nice walk along the riverside that starts from El Pobal ironworks. Highly recommend it!”

“This is one of the best museums I've ever been too. A perfectly done exposition gives you some hints on banana's history in a social and local context. You have a wonderful mini plantation to get to know more about the cultivation of this fruit. Besides, each entrance ticket includes a banana from there! At the exit you can taste some banana liquor or wine (yes, banana wine). You just can't miss it. The lady who received us was a wonderful host! Thank you so much.”
