Villa Fogazzaro Roi
4.8
( 8 reviews )

Via Antonio Fogazzaro, 14, 22010 Oria CO, Italy

“A visit to the ancien holiday maison of an Italian influential writer, which was lately used by his grandson Marquis Roi - a great collector of cigars, board games, books,….a lover of symmetric decoration,….gives us an insight of of the intellectual and bourgeois class of the 19th and 20th century. That inspires me a lot. The visit was accompanied by a friendly guide just a little regrets of not having enough time to wandering and looking more in detail the books, the furnitures the decorations there.”

“Beautifully curated pieces and interior, I would recommend if you are in the area. Staff was friendly. The gallery has two floors, the downstairs had a parametric interior with wall lighting that illuminated the space so well to enhance the artefacts. My only constructive criticism is the selection of paintings hall upstairs, it did not connect to the space or the Etruscan works, kind of disturbing.”

It is a commercial gallery but everything is placed in beautiful, ever changing arrangements and not one object here is ordinary. In a city priding itself on its design heritage, this is the crown jewel! Very warm and welcoming staff too!”

“We decided to visit this villa because it was raining, however we were pleasantly surprised. The author’s biography is fully explained across different rooms so you can get a better sense of his character, life and career. We also loved the cinema part at the end of the museum - it was a very different, kind of unique experience to see a film adaptation from 1941!”
