Living History Farms
4.6
( 10 reviews )

11121 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA 50322, United States

“Nice diversion today. Nice walk through farming history and a little something for everyone. We did not stay for the Oldies Ballgame but watched a bit. Easy walk and fun tractor ride back in time. Little ones will have fun but …”

Valle Drive In
4.6
( 8 reviews )

4074 Hwy F48 W, Newton, IA 50208, United States

“We went early September, the place wasn't overly crowded. The concession stand had good movie type food, we brought in our own but did grab some popcorn. The screen was huge and had a good picture! Perfect place for kids. We listened through our radio but they had speakers as well. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and comfy clothes. The double feature makes for a long night! There is plenty of room to leave if you don't want to stay all night. Definitely going back!”

American Gothic House Center
4.6
( 16 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

300 American Gothic St, Eldon, IA 52554, United States

“Ok here comes the confession: I was looking for a spooky black goth house not realizing this is one of the most if not #1 paintings that has a huge cult parody following. Also very famous architecture. Once I figured it all out I was amazed and in awe that I was standing in front of the house where the famous picture was taken. Lots of history and photo opps. You can dress up for a fee and have your pic taken in front of the famous house, there are nature trails as well. There is a gift shop and a small area with more photos and history. The small area in the back of the gift shop is blocked by velvet ropes and there is a fee to get back there. *That's also where the *bathrooms are located and you have to pay the fee to use the restroom.* That was the only down side especially after our long drive. It's very beautiful there and lots of room to just roam around, get the kids and pets out of the car and have a really nice walk.”

Launchpad Children's Museum
4.6
( 8 reviews )

623 Pearl St, Sioux City, IA 51101, United States

“Nice place to entertain younger kids during winter months. They only had 2 smocks available for the water play area which was not nearly enough because even with signs saying to leave them in place for the next person we saw families take them with to other areas & then go back to the water play area afterwards with the smock to continue play there. I would say the cutoff age where kids will enjoy it is 10. Tweens and teens definitely won't get much enjoyment out of it after 30 minutes. I would love to see more comfortable seating throughout for the adults.”

Cedar Rapids Museum Of Art
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

410 3rd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401, United States

“2002, the Museum was given the building that houses the original studio of Grant Wood. Located just three blocks from the Museum, the loft studio, known by its fictitious address of 5 Turner Alley, was designed and constructed by Wood, who lived and worked there between 1924 and 1935. It was here that he painted American Gothic (1930)—now part of the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago—and many of his most famous paintings. The Grant Wood Studio is open to the public for guided tours from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays from April through December.”

Villisca Axe Murder House Inc.
4.3
( 10 reviews )
Closed until 11:00 AM

508 E 2nd St, Villisca, IA 50864, United States

“Fun to walk through, but especially after listening to a few podcasts about the the case. I highly suggest the Morbid episodes about it. It was a little odd to see the juxtaposition of more modern toys in the space that were left as offerings for the children, but mostly nice. Oh! And make sure to have cash!”

Mississippi Lofts And Adler Theatre
4.5
( 10 reviews )

136 E 3rd St, Davenport, IA 52801, United States

“The Adler is always a great place to go for a concert, I don't think there is a bad seat. Always clean and the employees are always nice. Tonight was Brian setzer's rockabilly riot. Brian is getting older, just like all of us, but wow, he sounds as good as ever, and plays better than ever. His drummer and bass player are top notch as well. Brian is a great showman, as well as the rest of the band. It made for a fantastic night. I can't wait to see them again.”

Ditmers Orchard & Vineyard
4.5
( 8 reviews )

19475 225th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51503, United States

“Amazing wine!! Combos I haven’t had and a great family atmosphere! Only thing was missing this time was real wine glasses to drink out of, but that didn’t affect the taste!”

Jasper Winery
4.6
( 8 reviews )

2400 George Flagg Pkwy, Des Moines, IA 50321, United States

“We had my birthday party here and bought the $150 package which included 5 bottles of wine, two cheese platters and a small chocolate tray. The space was super fun and relaxing. Loved that we could bring in our own food and had tables held for my guests.”

Metropolitan Theatre
4.7
( 7 reviews )

515 Washington Ave, Iowa Falls, IA 50126, United States

“Best movie Theater out there. Priced right, great popcorn and a staff always ready to serve you! They get the new release right off the bat. Highly recommend all to hit up the Metropolitan Theater!”
