Lugar, 0, S N, 48550 Santelices, Biscay, Spain

“Interesting and well preserved ironworks that has been transformed into a small museum. On Sundays there is a performance where the water powered machinery is fully operational and there’s an exhibition on how metal tools were crafted. Very instructive and interesting for the whole family! There’s also a nice walk along the riverside that starts from El Pobal ironworks. Highly recommend it!”

“A real gem. We got the 30min private tour for a few euros extra which gave us nice insights into all the projects happening there.”

Urdaibai Bird Center

Orueta Auzoa, 7, 48314, Bizkaia, Spain

“A good observation tower and area with telescopes is cool. The exposition is a bit small. I would recommend this place for sure to everyone, who would like to learn more about birds and see them in their natural environment.”

Paseo la Biosfera, 4, 01013 Gasteiz, Araba, Spain

“There are great compilation works shown in which you can see the most unusual images of our friends and such beleaguered living beings, companions of existence. It is located in the wetland that serves as a stop and inn for migratory birds on their long journey from the Urals or northern Europe to the Mediterranean, Doñana or Africa.”

Fuerte De San Marcos
4.3
( 16 reviews )

33, San Marko Gunea Aldea, 20100 Errenteria, Gipuzkoa, Spain

“It was great experience with friends. Good value for money”

Cueva De Santimamiñe

Closed until 09:30 AM

Basondo Auzoa, s/n, 48315 Kortezubi, Bizkaia, Spain

“Really nice area with lots of natural beauty and varied bird life. We stayed for two nights in our van near the cave. We didn’t actually go in because it’s a 1.5 hour tour which is mostly interactive and was broken. It’s €5 each the tours. The very lovey guy said you can’t go very far into the cave either as it’s quite damaged, so you can’t see the wall paintings. Apparently after years of people going in and then not being protected properly they have degraded quite severely and they are thinking of painting republicans instead.”

“It has been an amazing experience. The level of difficulty was perfect to make it an entertaining and very fun challenge, and also, the setting pleasantly surprised us. We were a group of 6 friends and we managed to overcome it in time, we are looking forward to repeating the experience!!”

Ibáñez de Bilbao Kalea, 26, Abando, 48009 Bilbo, Bizkaia, Spain

“The boy working on the door was so nice and helpful. Our drinks were taken when we went to smoke and he immediately apologized and replaced them. I don't like the music here (mostly old rock and pop) but the atmosphere is good.”

Atxarreko San Pedro Ermita
4.8
( 16 reviews )

Lugar Barrio Gametxo, 9A, 48311, Bizkaia, Spain

“The hermitage is located on the mountain of the same name. Located on the right bank of the Urdaibai reserve, in addition to the value of a 15th century hermitage, it has the prize of offering one of the best views of the Urdaibai biosphere reserve. It can be accessed from different places, the shortest route is the one that leaves from Akorda, a comfortable walk of less than half an hour along slopes, although the last section of the climb is quite steep. The other most used route starts from the Laida parking lot and after reaching the campsite, you take a track that at times becomes a path that crosses the entire Cantabrian oak forest that is present throughout the climb. Shortly after beginning the climb we came across the hermitage of San Martin, from the 3rd century, that is, when some ancient Romans were around here. Whatever the path chosen, upon reaching just over 300 meters we reach the best viewpoint of this paradise. You can see, in addition to the estuary, Laida beach, Matxitxako cape, Izaro island, the famous Mundaka left wave... One piece of advice, now in winter and because of the rain it is more than advisable to wear trekking or mountain boots to avoid some areas with a lot of mud. In other epics, shoes with good soles are enough.”
