“It's a historical library at the heart of Manchester that may remind you Harry Potter movie. It has been built in 3 floors and there is quiet study place in its spectacular main hall to read a novel, do your projects or work with your laptop.”

Savoy Cinema Heaton Moor
4.8
( 8 reviews )

105 Heaton Moor Rd, Heaton Moor, Stockport SK4 4HY, United Kingdom

“Madge aka The Dancing Queen persuaded me to visit this cinema to watch a recording of an Andre Rieu concert from July 2023 in Maastricht. The Savoy is one of the few remaining suburban cinemas. Lovingly maintained and well worth using rather than the soulless multiplex cinemas. We shared one of the comfy two seater sofas at the back of the auditorium. Great experience and great concert. Bottles of Pinot Grigio £15; served in an ice bucket.”

Ordsall Hall

( 8 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

322 Ordsall Ln, Salford M5 3AN, United Kingdom

“Fantastic day out. The hall is free and the parking is 5.50 for up to 6 hours. I took my 7 year old to see an outdoor theatre production of Hercules, it was amazing, we are definitely going to go and see an outdoor production there again. Great value for money. Having never been there before, I was really suprised at what we found. The staff who work there are friendly and very informative. The hall itself was great to look around with lots of trying on armour and traditional tudor dress. Outside the grounds are very well kept and we met a gardener who was really helpful with advice on growing sweetcorn and other veg. The cafe and gift shop are reasonably priced. They take card :) The toilets are plentiful and very clean. A great place to go and have a picnic weather (depending) there is also outdoor seating on a terrace,we took our own folding chairs. Fantastic gem of a place . A great day out!(”

Avro Heritage Museum
4.7
( 16 reviews )

Chester Rd, Woodford, Stockport SK7 1QS, United Kingdom

“What a fantastic day I had at the Avro Heritage Museum. Home of the Lancaster bomber and my favourite the, Vulcan jet bomber. Awesome plane! Had a very good tour of the Vulcan cockpit 5 man crew, all the instruments still look functional and old school. The wealth of experience of the volunteers. Some of the volunteers had been Vulcan crew members. The museum has a lot to offer about the aircraft factory that was on this site and manufactured the Lancaster and the Vulcan. So much innovation went on here. You could spend at least a week looking at all the information on display. The Museum building was once the old fire station for the airfield. Restaurants on the first floor where you can have hot drinks and hot food to eat, and a good view of the Vulcan. The volunteers who serve are so nice and helpful and happy to share their knowledge about the site. I went home with so much knowledge crammed into my head that it was leaking, and I want to come back to fill it with more information about this wonderful site. And see the Vulcan and sit inside the cockpit,😁😁😁😁😁 just awesome!”

Bury Transport Museum
4.6
( 8 reviews )

Bolton St Station, Castlecroft Goods Warehouse, Bury BL9 0EY, United Kingdom

“We've visited several times including as part of a trip on the East Lancs steam railway. It's a medium-sized museum but seems to have lost some of the vehicles that were previously on display. There are some interactive parts for little ones but it would benefit from much more. You can get on one of the classic buses and there's the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of a bus cab. Parking is free on site and there is cheap on-road parking a short walk away on the road if this is full (the car park was actually very quiet though on our recent Sunday visit). If you are looking for other transport based museums with kids, the British Commercial Vehicke museum in Leyland and the transport museum in Cheetham Hill are similar but bigger.”
