“Unfortunately we thought the food was pretty average! Classic beef burger tasted very cheap, something you’d buy at a fairground. Halloumi burger was better, but wasn’t full of flavour. Burger buns were average. At least the chips were good! Spent $50+ and was unsatisfied. Staff are friendly and atmosphere is great.”

“Great location and atmosphere. Unfortunately, my lamb came out cold but still edible with lamb acceptable hot or cold. Gnocci is a must try. Completely house made and portion is perfect. Service a little rushed but grateful we were given a table with no booking. Extensive selection of wines to compliment each dish. Expensive but worth a try.”

“It’s a great place to spend half a day there, and you won’t be disappointed. We traveled there via train to Woy Woy, then a 5 minutes walk to the wharf for the 10.45am departure, then after 20 plus minutes of cruising, a RSL shuttle minivan (with the skipper’s assistance) was there at the wharf to take people to the club. We had lunch there and the food, coffee, ice cream and atmosphere were really good. The staffs (be it the receptionists, cafe staff or waiters) there are welcoming, friendly and respectful. Decoration and displays are fantastic, and our kids played there in the playground, and they just loved it. You can see the sky, waters, mountains…etc while you’re sitting in their spacious lounges. Prices are reasonable. We booked a returning shuttle minivan at 1pm through the reception staffs for the 1:15pm cruise boat departure. It’s really an enjoyable experience there and worth making returning visits.”

“I checked out Frango's for dinner and the restaurant was so busy with a queue out the door. I decided to order the double chicken burger combo which was quite delicious, the thin slices of chicken in the burger were nice and their chilli sauce was mild and tasty. Hubs ate the wrap which was tasty but didn't have much chicken in it. The servings of chips were quite huge. Despite being so busy, the food didn't take long to be prepared. One thing that didn't impress me was that there wasn't anyone frequently cleaning the tables, so you had to clean it yourself. I guess they were too busy.”

The food was outstanding, the service was excellent, and I thought the prices were very reasonable considering the high-quality food on offer. If you haven't been here, give it a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.”

“Subo has been on my list for sometime now as an esteemed restaurant in Newcastle NSW, I must say it was a let down. Although it was a set menu and smaller portions are usually expected, these were far far too small. The pricing for the dishes and quality of food served was extortionate. The older female waitress was incredible, however the attitude given by the male bartender at the end when I refused to tip an already $400 bill, for two set menus with four drinks had me scoffing at the thought of returning. Will not be returning nor recommending, this place needs to be overhauled to maintain or warrant the price tag....”

It felt like a waste of both my time and money. Overall, I cannot highly recommend this restaurant based on my experience. It seems that at this establishment, you're essentially paying for the atmosphere rather than the quality of the food itself. While the ambiance may be appealing, the value proposition for the culinary experience seems to be lacking.”

“Really really disappointing. Great location with a lot of potential, let down by poor/disinterested management, and overworked/uncaring staff. I'd say the staff try their best but they really don't, and at the end of the day they can only act on what they are instructed. Have attempted to attend this place twice recently to find it closed (approximately 6pm one night, 7pm the other). The third time I attended recently we were in the gaming area, pressing the drinks button, and not being served. When we attended the bar the staff informed us that there was not enough staff rostered so they flat out ignored the drink and machine service pager. They even informed us that management deliberately didn't roster staff to work in that area. Unbelievable. Later, when we went to the food service area, there were three staff members there, all of which ignored us. We had to seat ourselves (despite the promise of staff assisted seating), ignored by said staff. We seated ourselves. 20 minutes later still no service. I guess we'll eat elsewhere. I can't see this place lasting, when they clearly don't want business. EDIT 1: Don't fall for the fake / paid reviews, you can see some of the reviews are clearly solicited (like other local clubs). EDIT 2: When I walk around the dining area (still haven't been served) I see a lot of occupied tables without food. Clearly everyone else is getting a raw deal here. EDIT 3 - Reply to "Owner". I can name at least two dates this year (since the start of 2024) when you have been closed at dinner time. You might want to review your CCTV or similar because the club was definitely closed, lights off, doors locked.”

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the incredible venue and its top-notch amenities. The food, in particular, was a standout feature that left us all in awe. It was undoubtedly the best on the coast, with each dish bursting with flavor and expertly crafted to perfection. The drinks were equally impressive, with a wide range of tantalizing cocktails that left us wanting more. Overall, I would highly recommend Joker & Thief to anyone looking for an unforgettable night out. The atmosphere, food, and drinks are all simply outstanding, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable experience.”

Luckily we were able to find another table with enough seating . Other than that , food was ok in general , nothing too extraordinary . The plus point was good view and staff was good .”
