“We purchased a used car from Jim Schmidt and had an awesome experience. Very easy process from selecting a vehicle through working with the finance end of things. Our sales associate, Terry Ayers, was amazing. No pressure, went the extra mile in talking through the details on vehicles we were interested in. When we picked the car up to take it home, he spent time in the vehicle with us showing us where things were, how things worked, etc. Very much appreciated! They have a reputation for outstanding customer service, and that is what we experienced.”

“Drove over an hour to look at a truck here on a Friday before close, told they were going to call me the next day, got a call on Monday. Told the lady that I was not willing to pay asking price due to the truck needing a battery, brakes, tailgate not opening properly, etc. Told her to talk to her sales manager and get back with me ONLY if he was willing to negotiate. Was asked to come back, told they would make it worth my while. Drove back up, got the run around, truck now had a crack in the windshield. Was only given window price offer. I made an offer but was told thanks for coming, don't waste your time with this dealership unless your willing to pay sticker prices. So much for making it worth my while to drive back up. They deliberately wasted my time!”

“Some highs and some lows - 3.5 stars. First, a positive: the prices are very reasonable. Keep this in mind when Exceptional, as an independent dealership, doesn't furnish some of the niceties that affiliated dealerships have and make you pay for anyway with higher sticker prices (like a full tank on exit). BTW, one fob tends to be the basic normal for current models, and getting a second is a process no matter where you buy, so that's on you. Second, a negative: near total lack of proactive communication. Across about twenty phone calls about the sale, a part to be mailed, and the title, I received perhaps two calls back. Didn't bother me too much until getting the title involved three different plans, none of the changes of which I learned until my mailbox was empty and I had to call them, which didn't inspire confidence. It seemed to me that some people of the four people I talked to were aware of the communication issues and wanted to help, but maybe weren't in position to do so (promote those people!). So, mixed experience. Maybe it depends who you work with. Even if most people seem friendly enough, only some can get the job done well.”
