“Service is super fast. The food is amazing. The packaging is of the Royal kind. Reminded me of the Indian sweet boxes, looked very royal. The the food bag, omg, so cute. Cheap affordable food with the highest quality. Definitely not to miss. I guess travellers buy from places like this and that's theor meal for the train journey.”

“Anyway, it's a really nice cafe. The atmosphere is great. Retro, cosmic and fantastic... Fruit punch is a standard menu item. If you go in the middle of the day, there will be quite a line. You will have to line up outside.”

Le Petit Mec - Imadegawa

Open until 06:00 PM

159 Motokitakojicho, Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto, 602-8448, Japan

“When you enter the store for the first time, you will be surprised. This is a bakery that will make you feel like you have wandered into a completely different world from the ancient capital. The interior design makes you feel like you're in Europe, America, or even Hollywood. The bread is a little expensive, but it's voluminous and has a deep flavor. Most of the breads are hard, so it's best to chew them thoroughly when eating them. You can eat the bread you bought inside the store, but what if the store is full? For example, if you walk east, you'll find a bench along the river on Horikawa Street. There is nothing like eating bread from this shop on a bench on a sunny day.”

Doi Katsuman Fushimi-inari

Japan, 〒612-0011 Kyoto, Fushimi Ward, Fukakusa Suzutsukacho, 2-2 豊和マンション稲荷 1F

“After waiting for 30mins we finally got our seats. The food sold out quickly at 1:30PM (although the opening time till 3PM), so be careful about the timing. The eel rice bowls were good. Eel is tender & crispy. Big portions of rice would fill your stomach! But some part of the eels are over-grilled, leave the bitterness in the taste. A bit pricey (2 for 11000+) vs the quality.”

“The matcha at this house is truly amazing. It's rich, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The staff's skill and dedication shine through. The ambiance is nice, but the toilet could be cleaner. Still, if you love matcha, this place is a must-visit for an unforgettable experience.”

“Very elegant Michelin rated dining experience. The dress code is definitely business casual/formal though they do give a lot of slack to foreigners. It’s also a cash only place and required reservations ahead of time. The who dinner takes about 2.5 hours. They try to speak English, but they do provide a written menu which is not always accurate. This was a 9-10 course menu. Overall the dishes were very vegetable-heavy and very artfully decorated. Wouldn’t say I enjoyed every course, but I did appreciate the the beauty of every course and it definitely reflected many of the traditional themes of Japanese fine dining. Overall, would recommend if you’re in the area and have cash to spare.”

“Outstanding crepes, even after 4 years. Crepes were crispy at the edges. Cider and coffee were great too. Warm family-run business. Fantastic service; even ice was added to our water! Quiet place for a break after all that walking around Gion. Cafe a tad small, and may need some manoeuvring in and out.”

I love their croissant 🥐 They have so many varieties of bakery for you to choose. Tonkatsu sandwich also looks really nice, alas we didn’t try it. If you’re not a fan of matcha, their simple ice cream sandwich is also a great alternative. Service is also quick, so there’s little wait before your food arrives.”

“At one look, this cafe may look creepy because of the vines on the building. The first floor is a antique shop that sells many things and books which the cafe is on the second floor. The place was really big and enough to fit big groups of 5 - 6. A really nice English tea setting environment that uses vinyls records which give that antique vibe. They scones was delicious! Is different from the original scones that many cafes have. Which tasted really refreshing to me. It was huge, like the size of your palm and it was crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. With cream cheese and jam on the side to pair with it. Will totally come back here as I'm craving for the scones already ^^!”

“My wife and I just had a meal there, and I have to say, it was spectacular The owner personally cooked for us in front of us, providing us with small dishes of first shellfish, then vegetables, then meat, then fish and finally a dessert He talked with us at length over some tea about the history of the building, that it was 86 years old, and that he's the third generation of owner He walked with us through the house discussing various decorations, such as a family antique samurai helmet he placed out for his son, and some hanging tapestries, before walking with us through the garden and talking about the fish, the old bonsai trees and the freshwater well on property It was a hell of a night, delicious”
