“The restaurant was clean and has a nice atmosphere. Service was friendly and quick. I was a little irritated that the sever immediately started pushing milk shakes. I understand that I had kids with me but I wanted them thinking about lunch before desserts. The Reuben was okay, the side of potato salad was pretty bland. My daughter had the chicken salad sandwich which was very good and the winning choice out of the group. The club sandwich and ham sandwiches were also described as okay. The price for four meals was acceptable. The 4 stars is for the chicken salad, it is worth a return visit. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying the Old Mill Tasty Shop but I wouldn’t say it is a must try either.”

“Came around 11:25 and the line was out the door. Don't let that turn you away lines mean it's worth the wait. The restaurant is on the smaller side but has an inviting atmosphere. The smell of fresh coffee and bagels sounds like a great way to spend your Saturday morning. The line moved fast as the staff pushed out orders as they came. A regular recommended the Rosemary garlic smear on an everything bagel is the way to go they were not wrong. We also have a Smoked Nova Salmon and delicious. My childhood favorite cinnamon raisin with strawberry smear. The bagels chewy and are Loaded with smears! We also snagged an apple pie smear for our bagels at home. Next time we will have to try different combinations and come a little earlier.”

“Friendly & fun staff & atmosphere. Good food. Ordered the fried catfish with cheesy green beans & corn came with homemade relish. Catfish was tender & fried perfectly, relish was great, the green beans reminded me of green bean casserole served at Thanksgiving very good, unfortunately I didn't like the corn. Husband order a hamburger with homemade potato chips they were awesome! Had a Bloody Mary & it was also good! Definitely would return to the HandleBar and Grill!!”

“This place is a nice little gem. Haven't had pizza and wings in awhile so we were excited. The wings were really good! Large with alot of meat, breaded and covered in sauce....perfect. We got a cheese and pepperoni Pizza. Bith were good but we all said the pepperoni had more flavor. Crust was crispy and the undercarriage was very nice. Next time I'll have to try some onion rings.”

“We found this out of this way bakery/restaurant in a small strip off 13th Street on the west side of town. The inside is cute, with an older design. Everything looks clean, open, and warm. The waitress we had was superb!!! She was an impressive add with a great personality! Fun, helpful, sweet, and funny! The food was good, hot, and a huge portion of everything! Ordered the chicken fried steak. It was good. The biscuit was beyond great. (Think i need 10!!!!) The bakery was smaller than expected, but the options available looked amazing! Definitely will come again!!”

In 1938, St. Louis baker Henry Renz Sr. acquired Dad's Cookie Company from Carpenter's Ice Cream. The Renz bakery on Louisiana Avenue and Keokuk Street became the new home of Dad's Cookie Company. Henry "Hank" Renz Jr. took the reins in 1949. In 1988, the Hastey brothers, another generation of the Renz family, inherited Dad's Cookie Company. “Awesome Ma and Pop donut shop. The one where all the decorations are just old news paper clippings of their success. Service was extremely fast and kind. Showed up as soon as they opened and was able to get three dozen of exactly what I wanted instantly. Donuts had their own amazing flavor and design. “The food was great. I ordered the Little Chicken plate with French onion soup. I didn't like the soup very much because I honestly guess didn't know how the soup was made. They respectfully took the soup back to exchange it for another half chicken sandwich. My husband order a The Roomie Hamburger Plate with great seasoned french fries. He said it was a 5* burger. We also ordered a amazing Conversation Starters Totchos. Our Server Michelle was great 🤩 We will definitely come back to this place a lot more. “Well the first thing I noticed was the parking lot was full. But thankfully we did not have to wait long before being seated. The menu.. well it was hard to decide what to choose. The apple Caramel pancakes looked delicious but I, trying to be healthy, chose the sole with green beans and mashed potatoes. My meal partner chose the barbecue beef dinner. I have not been to a Bob evans in awhile so was surprised that you are offered biscuits, rolls or banana nut bread with your meal. Who passes up banana nut bread? Your own dessert added to your meal. This was one of the best meals I have eaten at a restaurant in awhile. There was no complaints about anything. Service was great! Chelsie was working her a** off but no one was left waiting long for anything. If I lived in this area would come by again without a doubt.”

“We don't have Jollibee in Australia and I wanted to eat chickenjoy while on our US trip. The chicken in this joint is so juicy, just like the one in the Philippines but better I guess. The burger steak is also nice and even the pineapple juice. I was really happy after I've dined here. The only thing I didn't like much is the palabok, it will probably taste better if lemon was given with it. I will definitely come back again. I love their chicken 😋”

“We got Almond Croissants, Éclairs and Pear Tarts. The Almond Croissants were delicious but were either overcooked or stale as the dough was dry and hard. The filling on the inside is perfect and I loved that they filled it up all the way! The toasted almonds on top were also amazingly fragrant and flavorful. The only problem was that the overall experience was dry. Éclairs also had the same problem. Even though the dough looked white, they were hard and dry. The Pear Tart was perfect! Very flavorful! Maybe I'm imagining this part but the base had a great flavor and odor of almonds as well.”
