“huge selection of sweets! cakes, cookies, pastries, donuts, brownies, all kinds of things- too many to name. my review is based on what I tried which was: carrot cake cupcake, buttercream cupcake, cream cheese frosted brownie, angel cream donut, cherry pastry, apple cinnamon coffee cake, cheese danish, cream horns, creamsicle cupcakes, and a custard puff. both of the cupcakes were great- soft, moist, nice flavor and both of the frostings were great, especially the buttercream- it was very unique and had a flavor unlike other buttercream frostings..reminded me of a wedding cake I had once. will definitely go back for that one. The mini cakes are basically the same as the cupcakes with the same delicious buttercream. The creamsicle cupcakes were soft but I didn't care for them because the frosting was a whipped cream type frosting. the custard puff was very flaky- the pastry part of it was wonderful, it had some fudge type icing on top which was really good too. the custard was- meh. didnt care for it. not much flavor. consistency was good though. The cream horns were amazing, flaky, great flavor and texture, loved them. The cheese danish was good, better after being in the microwave for a few seconds.. the apple cinnamon coffee cake was soft, moist, and also good. the angel cream donut was awful. i took one bite and spit it out. im not wasting calories on something which isnt enjoyable at all...it was dried out and kinda hard and seemed old, the actual donut part didnt have a good flavor- was bland and there was barely any angel cream inside, maybe 2 tbsp....although the little amount of it that was there was good and i did eat that before tossing the rest out. If youve ever had an angel cream donut from Paulas you know the high expectations you would have and this donut couldnt ever even come close to competing with paulas. the brownie was also bland. brownies from tops are better. the cream cheese frosting with chocolate shaving was good on top but the actual brownie was just bland, although the texture was decent, it was fairly moist. the cherry pastry- another fail unfortunately. it was like that canned cherry filling you buy in the store and the whole thing seemed like it wasnt home made, it seemed like pre-packaged dough and filling. not impressive at all. like something you would buy at a low quality place, i would expect better from a bakery with such a great reputation like this one. I much prefer butter block bakery, but I will be going back here for cupcakes and cream horns!!”

“Many people know of the quality (and range!) of Parkside's made in-house chocolates and candies, but it seems like few realize they serve lunches and have a first-rate ice cream parlor in the store! Their food is good and satisfying, and there are specials, not only of food items but for sunday's, floats, ice cream sodas, and/or shakes and malteds. The fact that they've done some amazing restorations over the past few years making the place a local jewel is just the cherry on top! ETA: The last time I stopped in, the item I was looking for wasn't out on any of the shelves. The person on duty came and looked for the item, to make sure that it hadn't been moved to a location that it shouldn't have been in, then called the office about the item. There were a couple of calls, and after a few minutes, a box of the item was brought in by one of the office workers. They kept me informed, apologized for the wait and for the fact that the item wasn't out ( since they really expected it to be there), and were really nice and as accommodating as one could ask in the situation. We've always received good service over the years, but this was just a perfect example of the great service that really didn't surprise me from my experiences here.”

“I ordered a cake for my daughter’s baby shower and cookies to use as favors at the shower. We picked up the cookies the day before so we would have time to bag them. They were not what we ordered and when I called to say they looked unfinished they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. I am posting a pic of what they sold me and what I was given. They showed me a cookie they had on display that said ‘love’ and said they could make it say ‘baby’ instead of love. The cookies they gave me looked nothing like what they sold me. They had no piping or detail. I also ordered honeycomb cookies and they looked uneven and stained. The worst looking cookies were hidden at the bottom of the box. I believe they stopped decorating the cake once I called and complained about the cookies. Also posting a picture of what I ordered and what they gave me. The top layer of what’s supposed to be clouds were just balls that were falling off the cake. Their customer service was the absolute worst I have ever had. I called seeking resolution and was willing to pay more to have some detail added to the cookies but was met with an incredibly rude and defensive owner. I have literally spent hundreds of dollars at this bakery. I have been a regular customer for years. I have bought every birthday cake, retirement cake, wedding favors, you name it. I will not be returning.”
