“This is a super close place to where I live so I come here every so often! Good: - I love the char siu bun - it's my favorite thing they have here! Super savory and it's something you can't find anywhere else. - The ube cookies here are also super tasty and not too sweet - The mushroom and cheese pastry is good - The banana sweet pastry here is also good, very sweet though Bad: - Honestly, most things that I eat here don't feel super healthy, but I think that'll be true regardless of what bakery I go to. - The line is the biggest detractor to the experience, it's way too long for me to wait in Overall, this place is a staple, and I like how it's something that it so close that I can come when it's not busy and there's no crazy line.”

900 North Point St Ste 52, San Francisco, CA 94109, United States

“A late-night visit to The Original Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop with my large group of 11 turned into a delightful experience, especially since we found the place surprisingly empty around 10 pm. The joy of walking into an uncrowded dessert haven, particularly with a group of 7 adults and 4 kids, was unparalleled. The ambiance of the shop was immediately welcoming, with an inviting design that set a relaxed and cheerful tone for our visit. We were seated promptly, allowing us to delve into the menu without delay. The standout recommendations from our experience are the Sea Salt Caramel Sundae and the hot chocolate drink. The sundae, with its perfect blend of sweet and salty, was a hit among the adults, while the rich and comforting hot chocolate was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids. Our seating upstairs at the 'train table' was a special treat for the kids. This unique setting added an element of fun and novelty to our visit, making it more than just a dessert outing. The staff at Ghirardelli were exceptionally nice and attentive, efficiently catering to our requests and ensuring our experience was smooth and enjoyable. A notable aspect of visiting Ghirardelli during the holidays is the festive ambiance, complete with light shows that add a magical touch to the whole experience. It’s moments like these that make holiday outings so special and memorable.”

“This long time local bakery maintains its history of great taste and unusual combinations. I like their large chunk fig bread reminiscent of similar Parisian loaves. And the cherry chocolate bread doesn’t skimp on ingredients either with healthy bits of fruit and meltable chocolate nuggets that smell wonderful in the toaster. Another personal favorite is their seed coated caramelized onion bits baguettes which share their fragrance in the bag driving home and explodes with sweet aroma when toasted.”

“Pretty good ice cream and fast service. Tasted pretty fresh as well. Prices were pretty standard for CA and size. I got the Secret Breakfast Sunday, which was their Secret Breakfast ice cream topped with Graham Cracker crumbs, fudge, and a blow-torched marshmellow. I really enjoyed it, but there were a little too many crumbs in my opinion. I'd come again if I was in the area. 7”

“I love the desserts here so much. Like they are some of my most favorite in the city. Chocolate Imperial and for the spooky season an eyeball which was just a special edition vanilla mousse cake. The service is great, my dog gets compliments by the staff and there are so many tasty things just on the first floor. I hear great things about the restaurant and still haven't tried. The desserts alone merit 5 stars, so I know I'm missing out. Worth checking out if you are in the area, tourist or local. If you want something sweet, come here! It may be a touch process for some but totally worth it for special occasions or impressing a loved one. I appreciate that they tape the bottom of the cake bottom to the box to make transporting it around easy and safe. Keep up the consistent great work and service!”

Omnivore Books On Food

“I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a unique book titled "Of Cabbages and Kimchi" for my father's birthday from this charming independent bookstore. To say that my experience was exceptional would be an understatement. First and foremost, let's talk about the book itself. "Of Cabbages and Kimchi" is a gem that I couldn't find in any of the mainstream bookstore chains, and it was sold out on Amazon until mid-spring of next year. My desperation turned to joy when I discovered that Omnivore had a copy in stock. What truly sets Omnivore apart is the extraordinary level of service provided by the owner, Celia. In the midst of the busiest season of the year, she went above and beyond by closing the shop during regular business hours just to personally hand deliver my purchase to the post office. This ensured that my father's birthday gift would arrive on time, making the occasion truly special. Celia's dedication to customer satisfaction and her commitment to supporting her patrons is something rarely seen in today's fast-paced retail environment. Her personal touch and genuine concern for the customer experience have left an indelible mark on me. In an era dominated by large corporations, supporting independent businesses like Omnivore is more important than ever. The personalized service, the unique book selection, and the genuine passion for literature exhibited by the owner make Omnivore a true gem in the heart of San Francisco. If you're looking for a bookstore that goes the extra mile for its customers, where the owner takes the time to understand your needs, and where you can find those rare gems that elude the mainstream, then Omnivore is the place to be. I wholeheartedly give Omnivore Bookstore a glowing 5-star rating and encourage everyone to support this local treasure. Your bookish heart will thank you, and you'll leave with not just a book but a memorable experience. Cheers to Celia and the joy Omnivore brings to book lovers everywhere!”

“Great doughnuts! They were fun to snack on as we walked the boardwalk. They were quick to get our order. We ordered 12 which was great for two people. We could have ordered less but 12 was a good amount. However there were few places to sit at. Better to walk and eat.”

“We decided to give this brunch place a try since it’s few blocks from our place and we had a great experience here. My husband ordered breakfast burritos and I got Italian crepe which is savory crepe with Italian sausages with generous amount of cheeses and veggies. I really love their dishes were healthy and not overly salty which is the case for many restaurants. Mine was full of flavors and portion was so large that I took the leftover to go to have it next day . My kid got chicken tenders and they were delicious. I am so glad that I’ve found a great brunch place in west Portal and can’t wait to try some sweet crepes next time !”

“Almond croissant 2/5 Amaretti cookie 5/5 The croissant tasted alright, but the texture was all off. It was more doughy than flaky and there were very few layers in it. The outside seemed more like a dinner roll than a croissant. I think there probably wasn't enough butter in the mix. It was possibly the least croissant-y croissant I've had in years. Thankfully the amaretti cookie was delicious and redeemed my experience.”

“Stumbled on this place walking around in Chinatown. Lots of selection and the food was good. Seating options outside, on the main level by the counter and in n the 2nd floor. The ambiance is what you’d expect from the pictures. I’d recommend main level or outside if you’re dining in. The Wonton soup was out favourite. Definitely a yummy spot.”

“Best Cantonese food in San Francisco. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this place! The service is quick, the food comes out fast, and it’s very budget friendly. The restaurant is very oriented towards large groups, and on busy nights they will swap the tables from 4-seaters to 8+ large round tables. The food is always fantastic and delicious and the portion sizes are very large, so be prepared to take leftovers home. When I come with small groups, we always get free soup and orange for dessert! This place is the best :)”

Danel House

“This was a trek to the city from the South Bay/Peninsula but it was worth seeing the expression on the children’s faces with the two and three tiered elaborate afternoon tea sets and dainty personal tea pots. The owners put in all their effort to make it a beautiful, French tea experience. I had this savory egg/salmon dish - which I never had and was a bit runny for me, but was good with the bread. It was fun to nibble and try items off the tea sets my friends ordered. It’s good to go with several friends so you can share and try different items. Their croissants are flaky and delicious. If you are adventurous and like to have all the fixings for a French tea experience, this is the place. I think it’s enough to share just one tea breakfast set and try the other items. The teas, especially peppermint tea, fragrances were so lovely. There were so many different teas to try. I just wished I had the appetite to try the chocolate eclair! Have to support these small local businesses that really do their very best. They also sell handmade chocolates.”

“Checked out Donut World for their old school donuts. Open till midnight Friday/Saturday! Regular donuts are $1.95 USD, while specialty donuts are $1.95-$3.75 USD. - Apple fritter ($3.75 USD) - not the best I've had but decently sized. - Regular donuts ($10.50 USD for 6) - two buttermilk, two old fashioned, coconut cake and chocolate coconut cake. Favourite was the maple buttermilk. Decent donuts at DW. 3.5 stars.”

“Pretty solid ice cream place but lacks the crispy texture that rolled ice cream is usually known for. On the pricey side but all toppings are included to make up for it. Always running a skeleton crew, so expect long waits. The constant flashing multi-colored lights are a bit irritating and don't really suit an ice cream place.”
