“I’ve been there together with the group, and maybe the group menu was the issue, but I didn’t enjoy neither food nor the atmosphere. We’ve got a table on the -1 floor in the tiny room just next to the open kitchen: not the best place to relax. Food was mainly mediocre. Steak was to chewy and fatty, soups (both vegetarian and crab) were watery, dessert was ok but presentation was bad. I only liked gnocchi, but they were not classic gnocchi (fried) No, I can’t recommend the place.”

“The food is simply outstanding—don't leave without trying the ribs and mustard soup, both of which are phenomenal. The service was top-notch, attentive, and welcoming. for Atmosphere: While the overall vibe is cozy and inviting, the only downside was that the space felt a bit tight. But this is a minor point in an otherwise excellent experience. All in all, Cafe Restaurant De Reiger offers a dining experience that leaves you wanting to come back for more. Highly recommend!”

“Amazing fried chicken sandwich. We were surprised that the burgers are made with goat meat instead of beef, which sounded weird - but it was delicious and didn't taste gamey like other goat dishes I've tried. Even the butter lettuce salad was really good, the sauce on it was amazing. The cocktails were also nice but nothing super special, and they have a good sake selection. The atmosphere is very cosy, with speakeasy vibes. A bit pricey but I'd come back to try other dishes. Friendly service from the bartender.”

“Went for dinner with a friend and partner. We ordered 3 mains and 2 items were decent. The burger and bulgur were fine but the gnocchi was terrible. It was soggy and had weird taste. The virgin mocktail wasn’t tasty at all. Furthermore bill was wrong. Spent €95, but the server insisted it was €105, not sure if €10 was added as a tip?”

“Nice Amsterdam bar by the canal. Lots of locals. Nice nachos and very friendly service. First time tryout a hot local herb drink ‘verse munttee’, not on the menu. Basically a hot mint tea. Very cozy and warm on a cold rainy day after a long bike ride.”

“This place was perfection! The vibes, food and service were great, I arrived with 3 other persons on Friday evening a little after 6pm. As we got there, we got seats inside as it was quite busy outside but still had seating inside. Instantly, seated and got menus, we ordered the Thai avocado salad, chef’s burger, sticky hoisin ribs and chicken satay. Drinks were fresh orange juice and beer. The burger was excellent! The beef, the sauce and toppings were in the right amount. The ribs were very tasty and had good flavour. Chicken satay was really tasty and the salad was very good. The sauce was a good touch to it. We also shared a Dutch apple pie, this was okay as it was served cold but still very tasty. Service was really nice and probably one of the best services and food I’ve received here in Amsterdam. 10/10”

“We had flat whites, double smash cheeseburger and a quinoa salad with goat cheese. All of them tasted decent. We felt, the salad was missing something crunchy to balance out the mushy quinoa and spinach. But, that’s a personal preference. Waiters were all super friendly and we had a great experience.”
