“I could have stayed there for hours to eat the whole menu! Came here in November for a romantic dinner with my girlfriend after hearing lots of good feedback from friends about this place. We started with some mezze and very tasty sauces. The bread is made there which could can definitely taste in for how fresh it was. Then we had some plates to share: aubergine (in photo) which was amazing, but my favorite of the night was the cabbage (which I could not take a picture of since I could not stop eating it). We finished with the duck which was again so tender and tasty. Staff was very friendly, attentive and polite. Price is on the higher end but is definitely worth the food. Will come back soon.”

Serving staff are basically untrained teenagers who have no real interest, the food was slow to come out (more than 1/2 hour for a starter) and the main dish was an inedible tiny portion of reheated ox cheek for £21!! Utterly ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that the bar had very little stock and the menu had all of the popular items out of stock! Genuinely will never return to this beautiful looking pub until the management change. The current licensee’s really don’t seem to care, which is sacrilege.,”

“Assenheims chicken is great! You get there and no matter how long the queue might look it moves and quite fast. The price is very good for the size of the portions. The dynamic is a little chaotic if you want to eat in, as you order like if you are doing take away and then you just grab your bag and go back inside to find a seat. And good luck finding one (seating space is very limited as the place is small)”

Make sure you’re hungry as the portions are quite large I could only eat half of the fries that came with the bucket of bones. The beef box, bucket of bones, mac and cheese and the sweet potato fries were all really tasty.”

The beef brisket bun is my favourite, next level in terms of taste and ingredients 10/10, perfect with the roast potatoes and aioli on the side. I took a friend here a year or so ago and he got the beef brisket with chimichurri, recently he told me he still dreams about it and it's the best thing he's ever eaten!”

Had a great chat with Mark and had a little taster session with a number of hot sauces mmmmm. Then onto the pork roll. I can only say it is a must if you are on brick lane on a Sunday. “Enjoyed the Chinese buffet. The good: Plenty of choice. Noodle dishes, rice dishes, won ton, prawn toast, chicken wings, chicken balls and so much more. Lots of choice of mains too. Tried a range of pork, chicken, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Went back and forth to try different dishes, a few times. For kids there was plenty of choice too. Plenty to keep them happy. Dishes were flavoursome and there was just as big a range of sauces and condiments to choose to add to the flavour, heat combos. The could be better: Dessert was limited to fruit and ice-cream. I was looking forward to try the Japanese food items in buffet, but there was none. In the buffet area dishes could've been labelled better. However, I must say, everything we tried, we enjoyed. I particularly liked the vegetarian aubergine dish which was delicious. I would come back again. Might try the Korean BBQ next time.”
