“Conveniently located close to the airport( 15 min? ) very very clean room. Easy check in , friendly lady at the service desk provided me with directions to places to eat. Room was just as advertise. Two things: first no hair conditioner just soap and shampoo. ?? And the towels could used a little fabric softer.🙄. One plus: there are several small restaurants and bars right across the street.”

“I did not have the opportunity to stay in this hotel but visited with my family on Christmas for a light bite, and the staff was so nice, specifically Edna was amazing! She took the time to show us around the whole hotel and explain in detail. Will definitely book an experience here soon.”

“We rented the most expensive room in the hotel and they didn't tell us the A/C didn't work at all. They literally robbed us. And they didn't give us our money back so that we could go to another hotel.”

“I hate to take a star off but the staff here is awful at the front desk. They are very snobby and refuse to help with anything. We asked for an extra trash bag and they looked at us with disgust and said “no.” We asked to use their printer and offered to pay and they gave the same response. The breakfast and cleaning staff are very nice but the front desk was rude and unhelpful and acted like we were inconveniencing them. The breakfast was good but sometimes there were no vegetarian or vegan options but they try to accommodate for you which is very nice. The hotel is very noisy as well. You can hear lots of commotion in the courtyard in the morning. The rooms are lovely and clean. The beds are comfortable. The water is a little unpredictable in temperature but it’s nothing intolerable. Overall enjoyed the stay but the staff was kind of the worst and really disappointing.”

“Very nice hostal with many activities such as dancing classes or mezcal tastings. Comfortable with a bar and few common areas to meet up other travelers and we'll located. Service provided is very good and personnel is friendly and helpful. They also sell tours in the city and the outskirts.”

“We awoke early one morning to water coming through the ceiling. It was pouring! The hotel promptly switched rooms, but offered us no compensation. If we hadn’t been there, the room would have flooded entirely and all of our possessions would have been ruined, instead of the few that were. The shower didn’t work properly and our room had a strong moldy smell.”

“DO NOT STAY HERE. We checked in for one night and got a double bed room. We got to the hotel and the associate said we'd need to pay 480 pesos for an extra person. The website charges the SAME PRICE for both one AND two persons when making the reservation. The extra fee for additional person is only posted in the hotel and not online ANYWHERE. We would not have booked this place if we had known this. What a scam. The room also smells like feet or cat litter and had two lights out. The only redeeming qualities it has are that it's conveniently located next to the airport and has a shuttle that takes you to and from the airport. It's also nearly impossible to walk to this hotel from the airport. There's a gate from the direction of the airport that you can't get pass unless someone sees you. For $150 this place is a scam. Better to head closer to the beach and stay at a nicer hotel for $100/night.”

“Perfect place to stay in in SMA. Away from downtown (thus the 4-star, not walking distance to anything, on a busy road) but beautifully nestled on top of a hill. The free shuttle can take you anywhere with pleasure. The staff is very friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay a memorable and truly enjoyable one. Little details in the room like the delicious sweets they leave daily add a special touch. The music you hear adds a special vibe. We truly enjoyed our stay there. Thank you Amatte and staff!”

“Our time in Palapas del Sol was the Highlight of our trip to Mexico and indeed was a "dream vacation". We were living in one of the suites and the view from there was just stunning. The whole suite was spacious, had a pretty design and everything we could possibly need. We especially loved the hammocks at the beach and at our huge balcony. The staff was super nice and the service extraordinary. Special thanks to Nanfa who was coordinating everything from drinks to the beach, a romantic surprise dinner for my husband, breakfast etc. Even the food was amazing and had a really fair price. We really hope to come back one day <3 A hotel which is really worth the price.”

“Good: The landscape design is truly amazing. As is the architecture, with beautifully designed rooms and lobby area. The pool is beautiful and I enjoyed hanging out there. The yoga teacher was friendly and still held class even though no one else signed up. Dinner was fantastic (very pricey however, which I knew going in) Bad: The service was, for lack of a better word, mid. This is the first hotel I have seen in some time without complimentary coffee in the lobby or espresso maker in the room or something. The drinks are lightly poured and crazy expensive. It's very hard to get a clear answer on what is included and what you have to pay extra for in terms of the daily activities. I was frustrated with the marketing in regards to some sort of beach access as there is none. I was told the restaurant closed at 10:30pm and went to order a drink at 9pm after a dinner off-site and the server seemed annoyed by this and slapped a menu in front me and said "what do you want" after about two seconds. I said I wanted to review the menu and kindly asked "are you closing early or something?" to which he looked at his watch, rolled his eyes, and walked away. I cant say I will return.”

“What a find!!! Super beautiful place!! We came for a night and stayed 4! Fabulous employees/owner and really delicious fresh food! Like several other reviews said, we liked the food in this hotel better than all the other restaurants in town. The pictures of the rooms do not come close to how awesome the rooms actually are!!! Our experience has been hotels with professional photos never look as good in person and hotels with photos from a cell phone usually look far better in person - this place is no exception! Important note: We booked directly at the property and got a much better price than booking online. Looking forward to coming back soon!!”

“I've stayed at this hotel twice now, and have had a good experience with them. Their hotel is located on the 3rd floor of the plaza. The rooms are modern and spacious, the bed firm and lots of comfy pillows. Both Alejandro and Gabriel provided attentive customer service. Best of all, their prices are very fair and are a good value. Please continue to support local businesses like Gran Hotel Cantera!”
