“Amazing playground! Lots of green space to run around, super close to the beach, tons of parking, restrooms, fenced in area for the little ones, very engaging playground overall with several different types of swings (which my kids loved). Plenty of seating- there are picnic tables, a shelter and benches all around. We came in the fall- the leaves were beautiful 🍁”

“Nice park. Mature trees for shade. Good biking around Lake Cadillac. Tasty beach on Lake Mitchell. Road noise is a bit much and the lots are packed tight. Bath house is brand new and nice. Recommend an end lot like we had.”

Otsego Lake State Park

Open until 10:00 PM

7136 Old Hwy 27 S, Gaylord, MI 49735, United States

“It was kind of chaos from the get go at this park...they didn't have our reservation in their computer, so had to start all over before getting our site. The check-in girls were super helpful and sweet to help to get us all set up though...sooo thankful for that!!! Our site was really big and right at the top of the Boardwalk going down to the beach. Interesting that you share your electrical box with your neighboring sites though but it worked out fine. You get a nice firepit and picnic table at each site. Lots of huge trees all around campground. Beach for the most part was nice and went of forever with really nice sand. Lots of picnic tables and benches to sit at if your not in the water. They have a nice Pavillion/Store too to buy ice cream, other treats and supplies at. Also Firewood to purchase for $7.00 and Ice for $4.50. Not the best scenario for fishing from shore at this place, very shallow but people were catching small sunfish. We had a good crowd around us at our site location so we were thankful for that! If you want peace while staying there come at the beginning of the week but weekend are crazy and a bit loud there. We thought it was fine camping there but think we will try somewhere else next time in this area.”

Young State Park

2280 Boyne City-Charlevoix Rd, Boyne City, MI 49712, United States

“It was a chilly fall weekend but it was a nice campground. Hoping to come back next summer. The beach looked nice and sandy and most of the sites looked shady.”

Fort Wilkins Historic State Park
4.7
( 16 reviews )

15223 US-41, Copper Harbor, MI 49950, United States

“Fort Wilkins State Park is more than just the fort! Beaches for rock hounds looking for those Lake Superior Agates and checking out the lighthouse. Lake Fanny Hooe for fishing, kayaking, and swimming. Access to trails for hiking and mountain biking. And of course, the fort. Fort Wilkins is a wonderfully restored copper era historic site. Most buildings are open to exploring and learning the history of the area and the copper boom. Also, a campground, which you should reserve in advance if you plan on staying. Finally, nice little gift shop to get your Copper Harbor and U.P. memorabilia. It is absolutely worth a visit. Have been there several times in my life and have enjoyed it as an adult and as a kid.”

Sahebgan State Park
4.5
( 8 reviews )

4490 Beach Rd, Cheboygan, MI 49721, United States

“This is a nice and quiet small state park. Those are its pros! Nicely kept, small, and quiet! There are also some sites that are right on the water of the bay. And from the beach, which is about 3 miles from the campground, you can see the Mackinaw Bridge on clear days! The cons to this location is that, at this time, there are only 20 amp hookup for electrical sites. But I did hear of a possible reconstruction of the electrical at this location coming this fall. Also, the sites are fairly small! Other than that, this was a great place to visit!”

Sanilac County Forester Campground
4.5
( 16 reviews )

2820 N Lakeshore Rd, Carsonville, MI 48419, United States

“I called last minute to get a tent site, and the lady who answered was very helpful and accommodating. The site was a bit muddy but clean. Bathrooms were well maintained, and everything worked. I had to drive around in circles a few times to find my lettered spot, so my only suggestion would be to post a map to make it easier. Overall, the camp is well maintained, and I enjoyed the ccess to the beach and price.”

Baraga State Park
4.3
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 08:00 AM

1300 US-41, Baraga, MI 49908, United States

“We stayed at a full hookup site for a week in August. We loved this park! It's fairly small but has everything. Two nice bathhouses, a playground and hiking trails. There is no train, the tracks behind aren't in use. There is road noise, but it was never bothersome. Across the highway, there's a park with small boat launches and benches. You could probably swim there if you wanted, but there's a nice beach in L'Anse.”

Warren Dunes State Park Campground
4.4
( 16 reviews )

11500, 11590 Red Arrow Hwy, Sawyer, MI 49125, United States

“Great time at the campround. Bathrooms were clean. It was a mile walk to the beach (not an easy one if you have kids and stuff). We were able to drive over with easy access to parking. There were food trucks on the beach and a small gift shop. The store in the campground was pricey (but expected). Staff was friendly.”

Clear Lake State Park

“We stayed on site 194, it is of decent size and butts up to the woods. There are quite a few walking trails that provide beautiful scenery and lots of ticks, but lack in signs. The office offers souvenirs to buy, such as magnets and Michigan made coffees. There's a disc golf course, beach, and a pavilion; beautiful lake. There's a few boat launches to easily drop in your boat or kayak. We didn't check out the facilities, but showers are available and they looked nice sized.”
