“Great place for families and especially young kids to make the most out of summer. It can be very loud at night but the park rangers do their best to keep rowdy crowds at bay. In addition to a wonderful location on the beach there are daily crafts and softball games. If you bring kids, bikes are a must”

Mcallister County Park
4.4
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 06:00 AM

Anchorage Rd, Belle Terre, NY 11777, United States

“Beautiful, peaceful hidden gem. First, getting there, you enter into Belleterre Village, down the main road. Just before the end of the road, you'll see the sign on your left for the park. There's a small parking area ( fits 5-6 cars at most). Don't park on the road, the village constable will give you a ticket. If you get there early, you'll get a spot. If you don't get a spot, the only options are to park outside the village, and walk in, or wait for someone to leave. If you walk in it's about a 1.5 mile walk roundtrip. Inside, the park it's a u-shape area. It's really beautiful. You'll walk along the water to the other side. There are very tall dunes. You can climb them and when you get to the top you'll be treated to a spectacular bird's eye view of the entire area, and an awesome view of the Long Island sound. The entire park is almost like an Island. You can wonder and explore, or climb the dunes or sit by the beach. There's less beach during high tide. There's a lot of poison ivy, so keep an eye out. There are no restrooms. There is a lot of birds, and it's a sanctuary for piping plovers. They are super cute. The park is a little bit of work to get to, but the views are very worth it. Enjoy.l”

Davis Park Marina
4.6
( 8 reviews )

Dune Walk, Davis Park, NY 11772, United States

“Just a gorgeous place. Really well kept and only a short 20 minute ferry ride from Patchogue”

Cedar Beach
4.5
( 10 reviews )

Babylon, NY, United States

“What a gem past the crowds of jones beach and closer than the hype of fire isl. the waves are strong and it’s not so kid friendly as it gets deep quick. Surrounded by dunes, expansive volley ball courts and playground it’s definitely a win. Note nonresident admission fee is $40 and totally worth it for the cleanliness, frequent lifeguard stations and overall atmosphere”
