“Pony is such a great place! It has wonderful vibes. It feels like a nice community space. Summer was my stylist! I'm so glad I was able to get into her schedule. I don't normally know what to do with my hair or how to style it because it seems kind of bland and just blah! But summer gave me a cut that has texture, some fun almost bangs pieces in the front, but also cut my hair so it doesnt need a ton of management. Which was exactly what I wanted. Something different and updated, but not too different to ease me into more stylish haircuts”

“For my second Twist appointment I was finally ready to go with shorter hair. Julianna proceeded to give me a great cut that met all my requirements. But the proof of a good haircut is in the at-home styling, which is why I wait to review my cuts. And all I can say is, Wow! This is a magic haircut! In the past month I have been able to style this cut in a variety of ways, from loose curls to loose waves to partial and almost full updos to a sleek flip, all with NO heat styling, using only roller clips, or a comb, or the occasional brushing, or even just my fingers. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the best haircut I have ever had. My issues, as before, are still with the products: 40 minutes after having Julianna show me how to finger style the new cut, my hands and then my scalp had a bad contact dermatitis reaction. At that point I belatedly read the ingredients list on the new (to me) styling products that Julianna had used and found that one has an ingredient I’m allergic to while the other has at least one ingredient I may be allergic to. (Hyper-reactive skin is no fun for me or for a stylist!) Fortunately, I was able to get back to Alameda within 30 days, and Tyler processed my unopened product return with a smile and no questions asked. After 2 cuts I’m a believer in Twist Salon’s philosophy and the expertise of the staff, and only hope that I can continue to get my hair cut there without the use of products that irritate my skin. “Worst place ever. My daughter got her ears pierced there, followed up with the employee who had pierced her ears a few weeks later and heard nothing back.. 6 months later, she removed her first pair of earrings but wasn't able to put a new pair in. We stopped by and a very rude employee who had zero empathy for my daughter's fear/pain told us that she should have had a different pair put in (shorter) a few months after the initial piercing and that her ear hadn't healed yet. This is direction we were never given. Another 3 months later, her ear is still not healed and the backing of her earring is so painful we have to go to the MD to get the earrings surgically removed. What happened definitely has to do with both my daughter's long healing process but the instructions and after sales support we got from this place has been absolutely awful.”

My hair is partially gray so it might need more professional work to get it colored, but still no reason to use more color and have me pay $200 for a $170 work. “Updated review: Went again recently. My previous complaint was that they didn't take walk ins and didn't tell me that until I had waited for a while (they told me I could wait, and then when I asked about how long the wait was they told me that they were booked till the end of the day... which seems like something they could have been forthcoming about up front.) This time they took me as a walk in at the 2nd Street shop. (I called in advanced to make sure they were taking walk ins.) My hair will stand straight up if cut too short but they did a good job on the first cut.”

“It's a big store with A LOT of hair care products, wigs, hair for braids, and weaves. But it's kind of frustrating how most of their combs, brushes, clips, caps, etc. are locked. I understand that it's due to theft, but as a customer who travels from WC to shop here NOT steal it's irritating that I can't check or touch the product without having an employee in lock step to unlock every item I want to look at.”

“I brought my daughter in (4 years) to do a mani pedi day with me. I have to say everyone was so friendly and I was really happy with how our nails turned out. My issue is that I feel like they way over charged me. It ended up being $170 . They charged me extra because I used a "special color". I already paid for the gel but apparently the gel color I chose was "special". They also charged me like $15 extra because my 4y/o wanted a sparkly coat over the color she picked. I just feel like they upcharged for so many things that they didn't disclose so I won't be returning.”

“My first visit was 4 days ago. I went with a friend, and we both ooed and ahhed about how much we loved going there. She said it was the most relaxed she felt after a massage. We both got a scrub and massage. I enjoyed myself so much that I went back on the weekend with my partner. Tip: --If you don’t speak Korean, I would recommend talking with someone behind the front desk if you are getting a scrub or massage and have any specific needs. They will communicate your needs to the masseuse.
