“I was there for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were polite and welcoming, but I'm afraid that's the end of my positive comments. There were a dozen of us, crammed into a table for maybe eight or ten at most. For some reason there were piles of coffee cups in the middle of the table, like the breakfast table of a cheap hostel. Then the food arrived. I immediately noticed that the plate of the person sitting next to me was visibly chipped, which I took as a bad omen... I had ordered the melon trio, which turned out to be a (very basic and not very fresh) dessert, strangely served as a starter; the salmon, which came in a tiny, miserable-looking portion and was grossly overcooked; the 'homemade strawberry pavlova', which was anything but homemade, with mediocre jam instead of real strawberries and no trace of cream. Everyone in my corner of the table shared the same disappointment with the food, especially the dessert: we all ordered something different and were all equally disappointed; bizarrely, every dessert, no matter what it was, came with large scoops of the same store-bought ice cream on top - I think whoever created the menu made some rather puzzling choices. We were never asked by the staff how our meal was, and didn't want to spoil the nice atmosphere of our family reunion, so we kept our complaints to ourselves, but I can't say we enjoyed the food, except maybe the roast potatoes, which were nice and tasty. I guess the relatively cheap prices partly make up for the terrible quality of the food. I've seen other reviews praising the food, so who knows, maybe it was just a bad day for the kitchen.”

“We celebrated Christmas Eve at the Pig and Truffle with our family visiting from Italy and we had a fantastic time. We stayed in the private dining room which has a cosy and intimate atmosphere that was perfect for all of us (including two babies and a small child). Food was excellent, each course was superbly cooked and very tasty. Great choice in the menu of different specialties, we tried most dishes and were not disappointed. Terry was absolutely brilliant, super attentive and looked after us all evening with so much warmth that made us feel at home. We will be back for sure.”

To say the rooms were stunning would be an understatement. The setting, the comfort & facilities were excellent. “We booked the Harvard Inn for two nights and it was a wonderful stay. The Grade 2 building was well decorated with modern touches whilst maintaining the historic features. The rooms were very clean and well stocked with beverages and clean towels. The breakfasts were delicious and the evening menu looked amazing too. The staff were extremely polite and helpful to the point that we left something behind and following a quick phone call, it was posted out in a very well wrapped box and received within a few days. “It is difficult to know where to start with the praise for this haven of tranquility - for both humans and dogs! First - the location - a beautifully designed and orchestrated layout. The barns are private and inaccessible to public visitors to the other attractions - which is nice. They are beautifully appointed with everything thought through in terms of design, functionality and the facilities provided. I stayed for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year and it was a perfect getaway after a horrendous year personally. Everyone is friendly and very open to feedback - any tiny little problem is not too much for them and they are able to fix anything immediately. So the service is definitely 5 Star - I was so lucky to get a booking really close to Christmas and thank everyone in the team for making it a lovely experience. Harry and Emily have created a real haven and it's a rare treat to find such a place these days. The walks in the vineyards, field for walking the dogs, ability to walk to the river or the town is really wonderful in terms of convenience and beauty. The Parlour Cafe and the Dog House Cafe is charming, friendly, warm and inviting - Gemma (the host) and her team work so hard to provide tasty hot food and wonderful drinks. The service is fast even on really busy days and they provide super take away as well as on site food and drinks. The Spa is wonderful - Jo is an incredible masseuse - she has ironed out quite a few niggles and wrinkles in my old bones while I've been there. Very flexible hours enable the spa to offer a great service. The gym is incredibly well equipped and the view over the vineyards from the treadmills is really lovely. There are showers and it's a really clean space. The Housekeeping team are really wonderful - nothing is too much trouble and they keep everywhere spotless with a smile on their faces! Thank you to everyone for making my difficult holiday period something to treasure.”
