“This is a lovely hotel; friendly staff and beautiful setting. Only minor niggles stop me giving 5 stars across the board and that is the lack of a soap dish for the bath and shower (first world problem of having to remember to move the soap from the basin if showering or bath); pillows are not the best. However plentiful hot water with good water pressure, bed is comfortable. Love the fresh milk in the fridge and the water. Lovely touch with the sherry and biscuits. Lovely breakfast menu. Would have been nice to have been able to get an evening meal here as the dining room is lovely. Lovely location”

“Having worked as a loader and attended this great venue in the past with my client I decided to treat my girlfriend with a mid Xmas new year break. I took advantage of one of the great deals as it is a quiet period. On arrival to book in we waited 20 minutes to be attended to. No matter how much knocking on the staff door brought any attention. I was told we had the bridal suite. If I had paid full price on my wedding night for the room I would have been disappointed. The room looked unclean. The sofas were grubby and tired. The furniture did not match and looked like it was a conglomerate of several rooms with a tired paint job. To pick up on a previous review contacting the venue by phone to book an evening meal is impossible and is online only. 6.15pm was the latest time I could get into the restaurant so you'd think it was busy. The restaurant was empty most of the evening. However the staff that were were available were attentive. Clearly there has been a change in ownership and the family touch has been lost. To be fair, on the upside the food was excellent and £32 for a rib eye was good. The breakfast has taken a cost cutting hit in presentation and value however was tasty and adequate even with one poached egg and seating is in the bar now I hope the overall wow factor has not been lost and can be retained with a little attention to detail.”

“Super standard premier inn, looks like it could use a bit of love in some places. Saying that, room was perfectly nice, vending machine was stocked and everything clean and tidy. There's not much to do around the area, but on the flip side, having a premier inn out here was super handy for me as a pit stop for work. Lass on reception was super, really friendly, chatty and kind.”

“Friendly village pub with a superb restaurant. Booked Sunday lunch for the family. There was a warm and welcoming atmosphere and a pleasant busy buzz about the place. Lunch was a most generous meal with a wonderful range of vegetables as well as the beautifully cooked pork and beef. We managed to clear our plates, but only just! In my opinion the red cabbage and 'Nonnas' peas were the stars of the veg show. All served with courtesy and and attention to detail. Highly recommend a visit!”

“Went for a drink 14/01/24. Waited 10 minutes for 2 pints of butty Bach. Staff seemed disinterested. Furniture in bar was either wobbly tables or OAP leather sofas. Such a shame as a local I hear it was under new ownership but same old same old for this pub. Better pubs around for locals..”

“Stayed here for a friends wedding nearby. Arrived with 20 mins to get to the wedding venue due to match day traffic. Laura on reception was fantastic! She even moved her car to allow us to park and avoid the £85 fee for not being in a bay. We made it to the wedding in time - but Laura showed first class customer service and needs to be praised. I was highly impressed with the soundproofing and overheard a fellow diner at breakfast say the same. Had a nice breakfast and a good sleep - which is what you want from any hotel.”

“Loved this place every bit, the only downside was that we dint get to stay enough to really enjoy the beauty of the place, but one that we ll remember with fond memories! Lovely owners, their story of switching from the fast lane to this business is sure to inspire a few. Chef Patrick and Martha were such lovely people and very friendly, well willing to provide all the assistance we needed. The animals on the farm are worth a visit, they are well taken care of. The farm is well tucked into the green and a place one will surely enjoy staying for family and couples alike. The safari tents we stayed in were well equipped and well maintained. There is a choice of cottages to stay in as well. Hay on Wye is a quite and beautiful town in itself known as the world’s first book town with a lot to explore and the farm is just 15-20 min away. Over all, 5 stars . Would luv to be back! Kudos to the team who make this place as lovely as it is!!”

“The first impression was very good; the listed building is very impressive and there are some pretty original features inside. The room was clean and nicely furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful. Apparently, there has been a recent change of staff after a bit of turmoil so it might be worth trying again if you’ve had a bad experience in the past We had a great time and it was just what we wanted.”
