“I loved stayed at Palazzo Grillo. The location is ideal. The building's public spaces are exquisite. The breakfast is very good (despite the automated machine-made coffee) and is served on a delightful terrace. The staff is lovely. We stayed in a "Jr Suite Deluxe" with a nice view of the square. The room was not huge (although it is one of the largest the hotel offers) or luxurious, but was very comfortable for two people, with good storage for clothing and a small reading nook. I appreciated the minimalist design, the bare (clean) floors, and the chic, retro Smeg fridge. The bed was very comfortable. My one complaint is the bathroom. It was spacious, with a window — however, frustratingly, it is poorly designed, with a silly modern rimless sink and no rack or shelf to store toiletries. (We ended up having to shove the towels / hairdryer / tissues in the closet to make space in the bathroom.)”

“From the lifeguards at the beach who picked up my towel when it had fallen on the ground and kept an eye out for a better placed lounger to become available so I wouldn't get burned, to the housekeepers, bar staff, doorman and front desk staff, everyone was incredibly charming, thoughtful and polite. I had a wonderful stay here in the summer and didn't want to leave! The setting is of course beautiful, very well maintained grounds and building. The only downside I can think of was the occasional vulgar behaviour of a minority of the other guests, but that can't be helped by the hotel themselves, who don't get to chose their clientele! Definitely worth booking if you're searching for that old-world italia/belle epoque 5-star experience. I can't wait to come back!”

“This place is exactly what you would like to find in Genova and in general when you visit a city. Service is extremely kind, professional, and attentive. Breakfast is rich, you get a great amount of options, and having your morning coffee and croissant out on the patio is just the best way to start the day feeling the city alive around you. Rooms are good and the location, is not too central. That's good, boccadasse is just down the road, you get to go for a swim and back in no time. Then the bus stop on the main line is just there out the door. I will not look for any other place when I will be back in Genova”

“It’s a quaint hotel. Giving it a 4 star because the food was very good. The plus sides are it’s in a great location. Close to restaurants and the supermarket. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is VERY GOOD. The restaurant staff doesn’t speak much English but they did help translate the menu for us. They are very nice. The rooms are all different and our room had very cold AC but my sisters AC did not work in her room. We were hoping for a queen bed but this was two single beds pushed together and the tile floor makes them slide apart. The beds are very firm and uncomfortable. The bathroom showers are a bit small and doors were very old. They do a good job of keeping it clean but needs to be renovated. Our bathroom had a lot of wear and stains and it was off putting to stay here for 3 nights. It’s an older style hotel for the area. I believe they allow pets because my husband and I were allergic to something in our room and constantly sneezed and coughed. I wish I could give this 5 stars but it is very outdated. The traffic is loud and someone moves furniture early in the morning. Tv is small. They do offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have an elevator and the terrace on the roof is nice.”

“Lovely helpful reception staff here. Loved the city but couldn't pre-arrange a taxi the day prior to pick us up at 5am to take us to the airport for the first of our 3 flights to Greece! They don't DO THAT! I tried messaging the taxi company all day & night but just got automated messages continually sent and they wouldn't answer their phone whenever I rang! We were out on the dark street with all our luggage panicking at 5am the morning we HAD TO GET TO THE AIRPORT! We also felt very unsafe. Luckily I noticed a taxi over the other side of the square and ran over & he was available. I don't know WHAT we would have done otherwise!!! It's a disgrace that this can happen in a huge city like Genova! Apart from that we loved the city.”

There are a lot of prepackaged, sugary items and breads. The salty items are very limited and not great quality. The hard boiled eggs did not look appetizing.”

Daniela was the best hostess you could ask for, she helped us figure out things about the islands and even recommended places to do laundry and eat. She also makes the best croissants! Overall, it was a great experience and I know I will definitely be coming back. Let alone the beach being only a 5 min walk from the hotel.”

“Very lovely for the price. We had a room with a beautiful view of the water which was lovely. The breakfast provided was great. My SO and I particularly enjoyed the assortment of cakes as well as the fact that it was served till 11am, allowing us to sleep in. Do not, however, visit the restaurant next door that is featured in the hotel's recommendation pamphlet in the lobby. It was the only negative part of our stay (dogs in the restaurant, stale bread, overpriced food of poor quality, poor service). Overall a very nice experience.”
