“We visited hotel for a week in the winter. My wife and child have allergies which makes this type of travel rather difficult at times - most hotels restaurants can't accommodate their needs, we have to bring our own food and so on. Not so in Hotel Madonnina - hotel inquired about allergies and each morning there was a separate menu card for each allergic person, with choice of meals and variety. Meals were delicious, which often isn't a case with allergic assortment. They provided deserts, judging from freshness - they baked it themselves. This is unbelievable attention to detail and care for the client. If you have this type of allergic problems, this is best place to stop. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room we had was spacious enough by this standard, clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable, with stiff and soft pillow provided for each person. Wellness area is clean and well thought out. Kids can be little loud, but that's normal in Italy. Staff monitors the area and keeps order which is also something unusual. Overall i can't recommend this hotel enough. We'll come back in the future.”

“Great location with friendly staff. On site restaurant is a real gem, with the pizza being the star of the show. Other dishes are good too, but I do like pizza done properly, and here, you won’t be disappointed. Good value for money. We had a lakeside pitch which was excellent. Local amenities are also good, with good value pedalo rental within 5 minutes walk. The supermarket close by is well stocked and mostly good value for money. The pitches are reasonably sized but care is required to ensure that you don’t creep beyond the defined boundaries. This is policed quite effectively, but could probably be better explained to newcomers in order to avoid any potential misunderstandings. Manoeuvring a caravan to your allocated pitch can be challenging but people are generally very accommodating in moving their inflatables, sun loungers etc in order to help. All in all, a superb site. Would happily return in the future.”

“I have to start by saying that we accidentally booked the very cheapest room and I understood that other rooms are way better. But I would not recommend the budget rooms anyone with sleeping issues, they are noisy, bed and pillows were not to our taste at least, carpet floor and no real ventilation makes the air really bad. Cleanliness was good though. Service and the pool area are really nice, town is easily accessible with free bikes. Breakfast is nice. Overall good value.”

“The rooms The rooms, frankly look brand new. Literally no visible wear and tear. We have later discovered that the owners close the hotel for 2 months before each season to fix and renovate anything that needs to be repaired. The entire hotel looks really new and fresh. We have stayed at the junior suite facing the hill. When you reserve the room make sure you know what you are getting as there are only 39 rooms in the hotel, but 9 different kinds of them. Anyway, our room had about 30 m2, and had enough space to not only sleep but actually function there as well. The king-size bed was put together from two beds, but the mattresses were firm enough that it did not bother us. The closet was big enough for two adults with winter clothing and ski gear. The bathroom was unusually big for a hotel with both the shower and bathtub. The room cleaning is done every day. The robes and flip-flops are provided. The hotel The hotel itself looks a bit like a chalet and has this quaint feeling about it. On the ground floor, there is a well-stocked bar with an ample area to lounge around. On the other side of the lobby, there is a pool and a fireplace room. You can also store your skis and boots (on heated racks) in a spacious storage room. Right next to it, there is a small playroom for kids, and further on the dinner restaurant. On the first floor, there is a well-equipped spa with saunas of pretty much every kind, and inside and outside pools. There are elevators in each part of the hotel with rooms. So, one does not have to lag the suitcases up the stairs. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the main ski gondola at Merileva 900. There is a minibus provided from the hotel to there in the morning and in the afternoon. The food Let me start with some technical conveniences. On the first floor, there is a separate dining room just for breakfast, which is an excellent idea on many different levels. The breakfast is proper with a large selection of everything one would think of eating in the morning. You can also have crepes and omelets to be made on the spot. There are snacks provided from 3 to 5 pm. The dinner starts at 7:30 pm. The dinner dining room is on the ground floor with more of an evening décor and atmosphere. The food served for the dinner is out of this world. I have traveled a lot around Italy, mostly in 4 and 5-star hotels, and this has been one of the best experiences ever. The chef in charge should get a medal! Just please don’t give him a Michelin star, or the food won’t be as pleasant to eat as it is right now. Entertainment The hotel offers a number of apres-ski/after-dinner events. While we were there, there was an introductory cocktail evening, grappa tasting, a live man-orchestra (that later in the evening came out as an excellent opera soprano) and a special evening candle-light dinner. The town There are really to Mazzanos. One goes along the main road going through the town, where most of the hotels and guesthouses happen to be. Walk a bit up the hill from the hotel. On the left you will find a truly old-school Bar de Renato, which looks like it has not changed since the 1960s, and serves the best coffee in town, not to mention pastries. There is a bakery and a small DeSpar store on the right-hand side of the road as you walk up stocked with all the basic necessities. If you walk up a little further, a bit beyond the Ravelli hotel, and then if you turn into the first street on your left (Via Quirino Bezzi), you will find Caseificio Sociale Presanella, the local communal cheesemaker, which sells probably the best fresh ricotta cheese on the planet. I also recommend trying their formaggio d’imperatore, and a selection of apple juice squeezed from the local apples. Then, the other Mezzano is up the hill, but going to the right away from the main road. There you can get lost in the narrow medieval streets, and houses build a bit later, with frescos dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Well, while it is no Tuscany, but still very charming.”

“The staff are not so friendly. I found a cockroach under a table in the restaurant while we were having breakfast and also some chips under our bed! The hotel is not clean obviously. You cannot find any Shampoo, body shampoo or anything else that you find in other hotels there. They give you a half bottle hand soap and they say wash all hair, body , hand and everything with that! RIDICULOUS! You have to ask for everything like internet password or Trentino guest card or stuff like this otherwise they will not offer it to you. The breakfast was ok but nothing special. The position of hotel is perfect though!”
