We booked a last minute trip to Chicago and we were connected with Ryan. He gave us so much great information about the town and what to do - we had to make the trip to the Long Bar just to meet him! We are so glad we met Ryan! He was helpful, knowledgeable, suggested beers and drinks. It was such a great time. We felt we were treated as friends - even family - and not tourists. “Clean, stylish, and spacious! Every beers has its unique delicious taste. The brewery area was secured and squeaky clean. The staff were all cool and nice. The place was very organized. It offers sparkling water and still water for free. The female restroom offers good quality tampons, sanitary napkins, sanitizers, etc. I've never seen a female restroom that has this thoughtful touched just in case of emergency. Keep it up and keep us Chicagoans proud!”

“Great place I had the wild burger and fries it was amazing. It’s a nice huge burger with grilled onions and it tastes great. The atmosphere was amazing and the food quality was amazing. I was in a group of three and my friends ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and my other friend ordered the taco salad both have reported that the food was amazing. The atmosphere has a nice Chicago feel to it. A lot of nice pictures and old memories of the business and how it started out as a business between brothers it’s in a very nice area with lots of foot traffic.”

Too bad this location is closing :( I ordered exclusively the award winning stout/porters and they were all great. Banana Foster: Get!! This is the best one and puts all the other ones to shame drinking side by side. Just so perfectly smooth, sweet, full bodied, and treats you right. It'll make you go for another round with no regret....except that it definitely packs a wallop ABV-wise so... maybe you will regret it lolol. Service: Hit and miss I came 40 minutes before closing and talked to someone at the bar. It was the bar back or bus boy because he seemed speechless and lost and continued cleaning/mopping. Eventually found Adan and my night changed for the better from there haha. Adan was so amazing and energetic. Appreciate him for such a great night”

“I've been here three times in two weeks. The food and beer are great. And what makes this place really unique is they play vinyl all the time. No TVs, and the music is more obscure. And vinyl, as I've said. I've never been anywhere else like this. I don't live in this area but I will continue to come back for the food, drink, and interesting music in an enjoyable atmosphere. The Oktoberfest deal is also worth it: 6-dollar beers, four take-home cans, and a mug. I feel like a tourist.”

The fries also had a nice spice to them and were thin and very crispy. Came here with some friends for drinks and the vibe was eclectic and cool. Prices are much lower than other bars but top shelf liquors, juke box full of classic tunes, bartender was very friendly, like I remembered from my early days of visiting bars . “Oh my, the yogurt rice wine was beyond words...it was so good. The dish has a big portion. Seafood tofu soup was great. The seafood pancake could be better with the dough, it was too easy to break but I let it pass because it had lot of fillings including squid and onion. The kimchi fried rice was also sooo big portion, probably for 6 people to finish that. Overall it was a great experience, I will be back if I'm in town”

“River Shannon is a nice open-air bar that maybe has the best dogs in Lincoln Park. As you ascend the steps to walk in, the bar's main dog, Callie, immediately rolls over for pets as your entrance fee. She will then lightly bark at other patrons for more pets, and she loves other dogs. They have a full beer, wine, and liquor menu, and while the bartender who served us was fairly inexperienced in making cocktails, he did express interest in how he did and wanted to know how he could do better in a non-intrusive way. Music was a little bit too loud for my tastes, but the atmosphere was that of a bunch of close-knit Chicagoans enjoying the beautiful weather and each other's company. I'm not certain if there was food there or not so I didn't rate them for that. The bar is extremely well-kept and clean, the woodwork is beautiful and was obviously done by an old-school artisan, and the outdoor seating was plentiful but packed. Still, you got a great breeze from outside through the wonderfully open layout. Highly recommended.”
