“Divar Island is a must-visit destination that shows you a glimpse of the slow-paced side of Goa. The island is adorned with ancient buildings and churches, showcasing its rich history. It's fascinating to witness how people have created a self-sustaining ecosystem there. You can take the affordable ferry ride, costing only 10 rupees, which runs every 5-10 minutes. During our visit, we spontaneously explored the island, only to find most places closed for the day. To fully enjoy the island's offerings, I suggest booking a guided tour in advance so that you don't miss out the experiences there. Plan ahead and embrace all the island has to offer for a truly memorable experience.”

Its tranquil waters mirrored the vibrant hues of the sky, creating a mesmerizing scene that compelled me to take a moment and soak in the serenity. The lakeside promenade, adorned with walking paths and seating areas, offered a perfect respite for weary travelers. As the bus meandered along the road skirting the lake, I couldn't help but admire the well-maintained gardens and the sense of calm that pervaded the surroundings. The lake seemed to be a hub of activity, with families enjoying boat rides and picnics along the banks. The gentle breeze carried the refreshing scent of nature, enhancing the overall experience. The view was accentuated by the distant hills, creating a picturesque backdrop that added to the allure of Karna Lake. Though my time at the lake was fleeting, it left a lasting impression, making me yearn for a more extended visit to fully appreciate its beauty and tranquility. Karna Lake in Karnal is undoubtedly a hidden oasis that beckons travelers to pause and immerse themselves in the scenic embrace of nature.”

Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary

( 8 reviews )
Open until 06:00 PM

Mangrove forest, Coastal marine Biodiversity center, Airoli Creek, Diva Nagar Rd, Thane, Maharashtra 400708, India

“I visited the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary on January 2, 2024. I had wanted to visit this sanctuary for a long time, however, had a hard time finding info about it- especially boat timings and accessibility. So, below I'm sharing what I learned today! Overall, I think this is a good place to visit and would recommend it to those who love birds, wildlife, and ecology. - When you arrive, there is a small visitor center (with a small gift shop), and an interpretation center. The exhibit at the interpretation was informative and well done. There was a documentary in either English or Marathi, and interactive elements. The staff went out of their way to put the film on for me even though there were very few visitors that day. -From the visitor/interpretation center it is about a 5-7 minute walk to the creek and boat jetty. The first 2-3 minutes are a flat wide gravel pathway, and the last 3-4 minutes are on a floating dock. The floating dock is not that accessible for persons with disabilities and senior citizens as it moves when there is high tide, and there are some steep steps up and down. There are army personnel posted there, and they mentioned to me that in the case of a senior citizen or persons with disabilities wanted to take a boat ride, they could drive a car the length of the gravel walkway, and the army personnel could offer assistance on the floating walkway. They mentioned that if this was needed, one should call and check with the office in advance. This information is definitely not a guarantee, however, I wanted to provide this info in case it might help people visit. -There are daily boat rides HOWEVER the times are not fixed. The times are decided by when the high tide ends and the low tide begins. On January 2nd, it was 3 PM. For this information, call in advance. The boat ride is 1 hour, and costs 650 on weekends and 475 on weekdays. -FINALLY the Flamingos! From the jetty itself I could not see any flamingos. From the boat, there were ample sightings of flamingos the first half of the ride. They provided binoculars which was great as the boat does not go particularly close to the flamingos. The personnel on the boat offered some bird and ecology guidance on the tour.”

Mahatma Gandhi Beach
4.1
( 16 reviews )

Kochi, Kerala, India

“I think Ganghi would be saddened by the sight of this beach bearing his name. He would probably wanted a refund. Very dirty, trash everywhere, disgusting smell. Sooo many annoying vendors on both sides of walkway trying to sell you useless stuff. Cannot even walk to the shore, swimming or even walking in the sea is absolutely not an option. Not only it is existential to avoid stepping into heaps of trash, it is also banned here. Wonder why. No point visiting.”

Odisha 752030

“One of the best place in India. It is a tourplace. Lakhs of people come here every day. Some people comes for enjoyment, we are going to see maa kalijai and as a Island it makes us happy. Nature is beautiful surrounded allover kalijai. One thing that Don't like in that island the shopkeepers are take extra money for everything in that place. What a cheap quality mindset. I paid 30 rupees for 20 rupees cold drinks. Not only cold drinks , but also everything. As a place it is best. Holy place. Boats are too old, they are not replacing it. Govt. Should have to strict on behalf of tourists safety. You can check my image. Besides, it will be the memorable moment in your life. Use life jacket. 🙏🙏🙏Thank you.”
