Stewart Creek Park
4.6
( 8 reviews )

3700 Sparks Rd, The Colony, TX 75056, United States

“A perfect place to watch the sunset of any fine day. This place is beautiful with barbecue sets and multiple roof covered seating areas. The entry charge for a car is 10$ and the park closes at 7:30 PM in winters. There is a small bridge where one can walk comfortably. This is one of the less known places in Dallas and definitely a must visit.”

Jim Hogg Park
4.5
( 8 reviews )

500 Jim Hogg Rd, Georgetown, TX 78633, United States

“I love this park. The sites are good sized and fairly spread out. Water access is easy most of the year. However, I rarely have any luck fishing here. I’ve had better luck near the dam. There are always a ton of deer in this park.”

Lake Arrowhead State Park
4.4
( 8 reviews )

229 Park Rd 63, Wichita Falls, TX 76310, United States

“It's a park. The new paved pads and roads are nice but there's nothing spectacular about it here. Great place if you have a boat and you fish. Probably fun for families during summer for swimming. Lake was pretty low when we went and I can see how people would love it here. It's just not what steals my heart personally.”

Falcon State Park

146 Park Rd 46, Falcon Heights, TX 78584, United States

“Stayed here a week. The facilities were nice and clean and the park itself was very nicely kept and very quiet. The shower/bathroom was clean and had good water pressure. I'm more into hiking and this park being on a lake is obviously geared towards boaters and fisherman, but I still enjoyed my stay here. (Might be a 5 star for those folks.)There is a loop trail around the park that's pleasant to walk, just carry a stick in front of you so you don't keep catching webs in your face. Javelina roam the park throughout the day, and there's a nice variety of birds to see. The sunsets have been spectacular! The lake is still way down even with all the rain this spring, and will probably take years to recover, but I'm told it's much better than it was just a year ago. The closest town is Roma, about 20-25 minutes away where you can get anything you might have forgotten or need, plus has all the standard fast food restaurants and a fairly well stocked grocery store for as small as the town is. All and all it was a nice stay. I don't know if I would make a trip expressly to come back, but if you're passing through it's a nice off the beaten path place to camp. EDIT: Bumping my review to 5 stars. My biggest complaint about the trails is that none of them followed the lake. It was always off in the distance, probably because it is so low. My last day I visited the day use area. Because the drought has gone on so long, there are well-worn trails leading down to the shore line beyond the picnic concourses which have paths through trees and grasses full of wildlife and great views of the lake. You might not see much of the lake on the designated trails, but I really enjoyed this overgrown shore area. Really wish I had explored more earlier.”

“I have been here twice already and this time we came as a group and everyone had a great time! Come with your own tube or you may rent one of their tubes. The bus ride to the location was fun with some good music to bump to on the way. Advice & Tips: Bring sunscreen, bring your own mixed drinks and beverages, maybe some snacks that can be contained and not get wet, keep and maintain your own trash please to keep the river clean. NO GLASS OR STYROFOAM”

Landa Falls
4.5
( 8 reviews )

133 Landa St, New Braunfels, TX 78130, United States

“The longest float on the Comal River starts here. Very nice folks. Not crowded on this Monday morning. They will pick you up at the end and return you to the beginning. The water is very low and it takes about 4.5 hours to get to the Garden Street Bridge where you can get out. If you go to Union St. Bridge which is last get out, it takes between 5 and 6 hours. Bring sunscreen, water and a way to secure your items when you go through the Chutes. The first one is very fast and my husband lost his glasses and hat. I found the glasses as I had a floating lanyard on them. Never found the hat. Recommend floats on your hats too. Will come back when water is higher.”

“If you have a chance to book The Wave, do it! We had the pleasure of attending a company outing yesterday and it was wonderful! In the heat of the summer, there's no better place to be. We coasted out in the lake, anchored down and spent several hours relaxing in the water, kids playing on the slides, fishing and more! It was a great time and the crew made us hotdogs and hamburgers for dinner. Thank you to The Wave staff for allowing us to have a memorable experience, we hope to do it again!”

River Road Camp Inc
4.5
( 8 reviews )

6365 River Rd, New Braunfels, TX 78132, United States

“We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this camp. The property managers were incredibly friendly and helpful. Having a tube and kayak rental facility on-site was convenient, and our kayaking experience was fantastic. Since we visited during the off-season, it wasn't crowded, and our kids had a blast on the river's rope swing. While the presence of a shower house was appreciated, we wished they didn't charge for showers, and some improvements would have been nice. Nevertheless, we would definitely return as the site was clean, peaceful, and overall, a great experience. Thank you to everyone involved!”

“Forest Creek was a great experience, the course overall is in great condition from the tee boxes to the greens. Friendly staff, nice beverage ladies that came through plenty of times but never interfered with the pace. 8:40 tee time with four players finished at 12:30. Fee included a bucket of balls lunch and a beer.”

Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake, TX, USA

“Canyon Lake is great spot to get out of the house and enjoy the Texas hill country. Plenty of parks and free areas are available to all. If you like water most beaches are open to the public with small entry fee. Boats, boats and boats! If you own a boat there are almost 20 ramps to choose from and three marina's to keep your toy. Rentals are also available at each marina. When you're on the lake the fishing is excellent with a wide variety of fish to be caught . Need to get your party on? Party cove is the place to be on most weekends. Plenty of space to park in the cove, float or jump from the cliffs. Overall, the best lake in the San Antonio area.”
