19005 Coast Hwy, Jenner, CA 95450, United States

“A very beautiful place on the roaring coast of Northern California. The drive to get there is really challenging. We met a bunch of Corvette drivers who had the best time getting there. I have a completely different view of the Russians since visiting this place. Very artistically built. They treated everyone equally. They did not demand converting to their religion. I was so impressed. Well worth the effort to visit.”

Desert View Tower
4.6
( 16 reviews )
Closed until 08:00 AM

01 In-Ko-Pah Park Rd, Jacumba Hot Springs, CA 91934, United States

“Loved this place, I reviewed it under another name already. We just happened to see it while driving by. We stopped to check it out. The gift shop was closed, I believe because a hurricane was coming. There were people there who lived on the property, either owners or caretakers. They were very nice, let us walk thru the cave/Boulder trail for free (tho I left a donation in the box). They had beautiful well behaved dogs. We saw a couple of peacocks, the guew was awesome and the cave walk and carvings were cool. I am sorry I missed the gift shop, would Def stop again if I was in the area. It was a nice break from driving. I believe you can go in the tower when it's open, but even from the outside it was nice.”

John Muir National Historic Site
4.7
( 8 reviews )

4202 Alhambra Ave, Martinez, CA 94553, United States

“Crazy how we stumbled on this returning home from visiting the Marin Headlands but here goes. I knew a little something about John Muir and his legacy including his cofounding of the Sierra Club. My university has his entire library and collection of written works which are accessible online. He got to write about his adventures and political advocacy with the comfort of the mansion, property, and his wife's family resources and friends support. I did learn more about his later years and it's interesting to think about how far he walked with what a piece of bread in his pocket from Martinez to Yosemite. He traveled to various continents. I had a blast ringing the bell!”
