Via 42 Martiri, 26, 28831 Baveno VB, Italy

“Brilliant campsite! Beautiful location on Lake Maggoire, good size pitches, brilliant facilities (including 3 bars and 3 shops!), a short walk to some lovely lake side restaurants etc. The campsite is big but it doesn't feel it at all. It's really well laid out and the drive in and some of the surrounding area is filled with rows of trees - it's beautiful. Amazing communication from the campsite staff (emailing back about 5 minutes after we sent one each time!). We didn't book far enough in advance to get a lake side pitch but will do for sure next time, the spots are stunning. We'll be back! Thank you :)”

Camping Orta

Via Domodossola, 28, 28016 Orta San Giulio NO, Italy

“Great campsite on Lake Orta taking motorhomes as well as tents. Some pitches on water's edge but you will need to be lucky to get one as they are in great demand. Most pitches are across the road on terraces, some with lake views and all with shade trees. All staff very friendly and helpful. Some pitches a bit nerve-racking to reach but doable with our 7m motorhome. Payment accepted in cash only (ATM on site).Excellent shower block. Highly recommended.”

“This site is very expensive for what it is, compared to resorts like Sandaya in France. The pitches had enough space, but roads were very tight for motorhomes. It was busy and quite crammed in in early September. Staff were excellent, friendly and spoke excellent English. We were grateful that when we lost our key card, the staff later told us they had found it. Price was extravagant. It was around €75 per night for 2 adults, 1 child and a dog. Electric was €7 per day. The swimming pool was nothing special. The slide goes into the deep pool, which was a bit deep for me to stand in. There is an 0.8m children's pool. Unfortunately we weren't aware of the rule in Italy that bathing hats are always required. They are sold at the pool for €3 or €2 at Gigante. The playground is much more impressive. There is a noticeboard with times for entertainment at the arena, but nothing easily found online. The Gigante supermarket at the edge of the campsite- 5 min walk from our pitch - was probably the best thing about the site. The other end of the site gives access to the lake. Toilets were decent, and there are waste disposal points at each toilet block. However, because it's quite open aired, that meant the showers were always exposed to the smells from waste disposal. Hot showers is a bit of an exaggeration in the mornings. The location was handy and there are shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Overall, I was quite underwhelmed by the site for the cost. Everything was decent enough and okay - we would come back. It may just be the location that adds to the price, but I would look elsewhere first. I think €45-50 per night would have been more reasonable.”

Camping Lago Azzurro

Via Enrico Fermi, 2, 28040 Dormelletto NO, Italy

“We stayed for 1 night wirh motorhome. The camping have everything you need for a short stay included friendly staff. A little bit poor electric with 3 or 6 A. If you use hot water and refrigarator in the car the fuse jump off, no Wifi but not needed for a short stay. Good price.”

Via /22, Casali Darbedo, 20, 28822 Cannobio VB, Italy

“A cozy little and good place, located perfectly, not far from the city, and only 4 km after the border. So not so far to drive on the narrow roads with the caravan. We got absolutely fantastic help when we asked about how to drive into Madrid, thank you very much for 2 good weeks.”

Camping Valle Romantica

Via Valle Cannobina, 28822 Cannobio VB, Italy

“After camping all over Europe, this campground is my all-time favorite. The camping spaces are good size and separated by trimmed bushes. There is a small market that has all the essentials and more. But there are several surprises by this campground that make this one off the charts. I’m not going to describe them because I don’t want to give away the secrets, but this place is amazing. And to be able to drive five minutes to have an incredible Italian dinner on the lake is the best.”

Via Darbedo, 2, 28822 Cannobio VB, Italy

“Superb location, but narrow roads on the site and some pitches are very cramped - getting on to the pitches can be difficult. Site occupancy about 95% German so must be some kind of link there? There are some superb lake side pitches, all full so presumably they need to be booked in advance? Short walk into lovely Cannobio around the lake lido. Arriving & Leaving is chaotic - not enough space for simultaneous incoming and outgoing vans. The problem is made worse by early arrivals and poor location of motorhome point situated amongst it all (often blocked by parked cars). This site is great in many ways BUT the biggest annoyance for me was barking dogs! For most of the day it was like camping in a kennel. Many owners make no effort the keep the barking under control which is a disappointment and would prevent me from returning”
