Kishauwau Cabins

( 8 reviews )

901 N 2129th Rd, Tonica, IL 61370, United States

“Me and my boyfriend have stayed here twice so far and we plan to continue coming for a long time. We’ve stayed in the wilderness cabin as well as the shady oaks cabin and both were clean, comfortable, well stocked, and just a wonderful place to stay. We didn’t have too much phone reception but they have a huge selection of movies and games available at the main office as well as supplies for a fire, and some other small items you may have forgotten. They also have a very cute little gift shop. Overall the property is beautiful and it’s the perfect driving distance to both matthesson state park (my favorite) as well as starved rock.”

“Daughter loved her week at Camp O and can't wait to go back! We went to Family Camp first and I was so impressed at how warm, enthusiastic, and positive the staff is-and how they all seem so happy to be there! From talking to parents who send their kids to other camps, it seems that many camps are struggling to hire decent staff these days and it affected their kids' experience. I am glad to say that's not the case here. The property is beautiful and the kids seem to have a good mix of activities and free time.”

“We love staying here! The staff are friendly and helpful and they always keep the lots looking brand new! The main place always hosts things for the kids and adults as well. They have a mini golf area and offer ice cream in the summer time! Also they have a restaurant attached to them that serves spectacular food! I love the area and I love this campground!”

“This place is over priced. It does offer a lot as far as a pool, indoor toddler zone, 2 parks, jump pad, volley ball, mini golf, plenty of spaces. They have concessions and a little store. Planned activities/itinerary. Plenty of indoor space for rainy days. But - it’s very strict - we joke they have a “no fun” policy. Their new jump pad is horrible, you can’t jump on it. It used to be the kids favorite thing and is now unusable. The pool was very dirty (bugs!). Our group called several times to have this fixed with no success. It left several swimsuits with holes all over and didn’t smell good. It was decently warm and plenty of room even though it was busy. The bathrooms are nice and clean. A few toilets and showers with good pressure. There are 3 sinks and only ONE worked, leaving a huge awkward line. The canoes and paddle boats were filthy and filled with water - unusable. No e-bikes or kids little battery operated cars (no fun allowed). Only motorized options besides your vehicle is renting one of their golf carts ($$). It’s a huge place with paved roads so it’s nice to have something if you need to get to the shower house or pool. We brought bicycles. Huge old shade trees are nice depending on the site. Big community of seasonal people; although we know several who have pulled out due to increasing prices and decreasing fun. We used to stay here several times a year and now only once every 2-3 years and probably not again. Customer service used to be worse; this time the checkin lady was very pleasant! You go through the drive thru then have to park, go inside, and get checked in. Not ideal with kids and traveling - I feel like they could just hand you everything through the window. This place has been here forever, revolving names/ownership and has been growing. It is right next to Tyson but it’s not a problem besides traffic before/after shifts.”

Gun Creek Campground

Golf Course Dr, Whittington, IL 62897, United States

“Lots of nice sites here. We're on site 27, full hookups right on the lake. Some sites are pretty steep so be aware of that if you need more tools for leveling your camper. Lots of good 5th wheel spots and many more travel trailer sites. Playgrounds for the kids and wash rooms are available if needed.”

“At check in, the woman on duty was less then friendly, seemed bothered that she had to stop looking at her tablet to check us in. Our site was next to the office and outdoor wood stove and there was wood spread out on to our camp site. The water had a foul odor that nearly makes you sick to smell. It was very quiet, lots of guests but very few were out of their campers for the two nights we stayed.”

Country Bend Campground
4.4
( 10 reviews )

3279 Honey Bend Ave, Litchfield, IL 62056, United States

“My family camped here for the Halloween weekend. 🎃 We really enjoyed this campground. There were plenty of things for kids to do; 2 playgrounds, a bounce pad, fishing pond, paddle boat pond, mini golf, swimming pool and plenty of space to run around. The spaces are decent sized. The lay out of where things are is a little confusing. Example: the cabins aren't all in the same location. Some are on one side of the camp ground and others are on the opposite end. The cons to this campground: there seemed to only be one bathroom/ shower house location. The roads are not very bike friendly. The rentable golf carts need repair. Though this campground is on the expensive side you get what you pay for. The bathrooms/ shower were very clean and well stocked. The security was impressive, the property appeared to be very well kept. We appreciated the extra activites offered for the holiday. We will likely visit again.”
