“I ordered at 5:56pm, I kept seeing people get orders that placed orders after me. I asked counter staff how are you all calling numbers because I heard them call 38 when my number was 29 , and I was told they had to drop more chicken which really didn't answer my question. After realizing I had been in there almost 30mins and seeing the third 25 piece being filled over my 12 piece, I demanded the counter staff to refund me or give me my food and handed my receipt to the cashier. Cashier asked why I did not been say something. My response was 15 mins ago, I did say something when I asked how are y'all calling numbers. Overall, I did not receive my food until 6:29pm They were on number 43 when I retrieved my food. Apparently one of the servers, who was leaving the counter after I arrived threw away my ticket without passing to the kitchen.”

“I knew it would be good when there was 2 NOPD patrol cars out front. Stumbled on Dixie completely by accident. Tucked in a neighborhood just off Canal Blvd, the restaurant isn’t big, but their food was exceptional. It is a small place, not too many tables and there was one wait staff. She never stood still and flew around that place like her hair was on fire, refilling drinks and making sure we were okay. I set my straw wrapper down, next thing I knew it was gone. We had chicken, ribs and onion ring appetizer. In our quest to eat fried chicken in every state, this place was great. Was a little worried for my wife about eating fried chicken in Louisiana (too spicy), but it was seasoned just right. Ribs fell off the bone, slaw and beans were good too. Glad we stopped. Memorable experience.”

“Recommend? Yesssss. This is NOT a vegan establishment. However, the food I got were. I went twice within 3 days cause well… I had to. I tried their jerk wings and their impossible burger. For sides I had the cabbage and the sweet plantains. Mango tea is the way to go here. The jerk wings came with 4 wings and 2 sides. I think for the price point they could’ve thrown in like an extra couple of wings because the non-vegan oxtail had a lot. Nonetheless where am I gonna get Jamaican food in this city 😅😅😅 The wings came on a bed of rice and peas. The sides I chose were sweet plantains and cabbage. I found the rice to be a bit dry but everything else was super delicious. The wings had a nice jerk spice, but I think it could use a bit more heat so that it tingles a little. It is made of soy protein wrapped around a sugarcane stick. Here’s what to expect: the protein itself is a bit soft on the inside, not thick and dense like actual chicken; the seasoning is good but is missing some smokiness I think and a bit more heat; and it comes with a sweet sauce on the side. The cabbage was very well seasoned. I’m usually not a fan of cabbage, but I’m so glad I gave this one a shot. The sweet plantains were rightfully chosen so they caramelized nicely. I had the impossible burger on a different day. It comes with 1 side. Naturally I had the cabbage again. Yes, I got cabbage with my burger. I don’t care what you say but the cabbage is THAT good. The burger itself had a really good spice going on. But PLEASE if you are watching your sodium intake then tread very carefully. The salt content in the burger was almost too much to bear. I would try it again to see if it was just an off day, but it’s kind of pricey when I could get the wings that I enjoyed more.”

“Loved this place years back, but it just isn't the same. Me and my folks met up for dinner and we were the only ones there at the time but the pizza came out cold, the shrimp was dissapointing compared to how it used to be and the meatball poboy didn't really have any red gravy. The atmosphere is nice and the lady who worked there was nice and the server wasn't bad, but the food for the price just doesn't match up.”

The soft buttery luxurious texture of the fat juxtaposed against the super crunchy skin… the spice of a Cajun buffalo like sauce… I found myself licking the inside of the ziploc bag. Wow.
