“5 minutes walk from Hakone Yumoto Station along a back street. I went to Hakone Yumoto's famous Chinese restaurant "Yumoto High Color Chinese Nissei-tei"♪ This is a Chinese restaurant that everyone recommends that you should try at least once when you come to Hakone Yumoto. It seems like the restaurant is family-run and the taste has been passed down from generation to generation. The prices are reasonable and you can order half sizes of everything, so please order a few and enjoy the taste of "Nissintei"! My personal recommendation is the chashu noodles. The chashu is really delicious. The noodles are curly and go well with the soup. The soup is also irresistible with its gentle dashi stock. The next recommendation is gyoza🥟! The meat is juicy and the skin is chewy, making it the best dish. Also, although quantities are limited, you can also order half of the Kakuni, so be sure to give it a try. Well, overall, it has a somewhat nostalgic taste that makes you feel warm. By the way, there are quite a few lines on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a nearby coin parking lot, but it is surprisingly full, so be careful.”

“If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in Japan, this restaurant is a must-visit! My wife and I moved to Japan from Singapore a couple of months ago, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a place that serves Chinese cuisine that is 95% similar to what you would get in Beijing, with slight adaptations to suit the local palate (a little sweeter than usual). We highly recommend trying the Eggplant Ramen, which we both loved despite not being fans of eggplant, as well as the Sweet and Sour Iberico Pork and the Almond Pudding for dessert. The portion sizes are very generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. The service is fantastic, and the staff is proficient in Japanese, English, and Chinese. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate larger groups too. Overall, we had an amazing experience with great food quality, generous portion sizes, and excellent service. We give it a 10/10 rating and will definitely return if we are ever in Yokohama again!”

“Sadly after the renovation in mid 2023, this restaurant has turned for the worse. It used to be our local favourite, which we would go to about 2 times a month. Now the staff is TERRIBLY unskilled - even the plain Thai rice straight from the rice cooker was hard and cold. All 5 dishes we ordered arrived only lukewarm and after a relatively long wait, even though we were the only customers at 17:30 on a Wednesday. 2 chicken dishes were undercooked, 1 with raw middle on skewers - potentially dangerous! Waiters seem slightly annoyed and do not notice when glasses or plates are empty. There's almost no mobile internet in the deeper parts of the restaurant but some customers are asked to use QR codes on their phones to order from websites. Only when we insisted we couldn't order we received a tablet (with the remark that earlier the tablets wouldn't have worked). Last but not least, the kitchen is now located in the middle of the restaurant without any noise barriers. With unskilled staff like the current ones, the BANGING of pots, woks, and plates was really interruptive and unpleasantly loud. Sadly we won't be back for a while. It's been already some weeks since the reopening, but it seems the staff needs far more training. Honestly very disappointed how a fantastic restaurant turned this much.”

“I was surprised to find Okura in the restaurant area of a department store. The atmosphere, taste, and customer service are perfect, and the customer base is good. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the speed at which the food was served. Immediately after the shark fin soup, we had shrimp gyoza and tougen chamin. Since they have great hospitality, I would have liked to see the timing of the meal before being served. You can relax and be alone.”

“2023.10.21 (Sunday) Is it Chinese food that I have been receiving so far? Is it Chinese style food? I've never even tasted authentic Chinese food, but Hourai-kaku has some mildly flavored Chinese food that's ``dashi-based''... This is the first time I've noticed this. I had the shiitake mushroom soba, yakisoba with ankake sauce, boiled gyoza, and grilled gyoza, and although the seasoning was by no means light, you could really feel the flavor of the ingredients in each dish. I was able to enjoy each and every item really deliciously. It was an eye-opening experience for me, who only knew Chinese food with strong flavors. Especially for me, who loves shiitake mushrooms, shiitake soba is my favorite dish. Thick shiitake mushrooms, chewy thick noodles that seem to be hand-made, and a rich and flavorful soup made with the shiitake mushrooms. Even now, almost a month has passed, it remains firmly in my memory. In addition, the boiled gyoza and grilled gyoza are also exquisite. No wonder everyone in the store is ordering it! There are instructions on how to eat the food posted on the wall inside the store, and it was the best way to eat it. In particular, be sure to try the soup dumplings filled with soup stock while they are still warm. You will definitely feel a little happy. Please enjoy Horai-kaku's Chinese cuisine. ｡◕‿◕｡”
