“This was one of our best bar experience in Kyoto. The food was great for the price, and the drinks were very affordable. They had a big menu and everything were great! Especially the fried oysters, tamago, aji-fry (fried fish). The warm sake was amazing and it only costs 400 yen per carafe! This is a pretty small bar and is very popular amongst locals so do come at an off peak time. We visited the bar at 3pm and it was full (luckily a few people left just in time that made space for us). There is an English menu but don't expect people there to speak much English.”

“The walls are very thin, and the sinks emit a loud, high-pitched sound when used. So you can hear every time your neighboring rooms use their sink, in addition to any time your neighbors are actively loud. There is almost no storage space if you have the beds out. The rooms are clean, though, and they're cheap. You get what you pay for.”

“Hot sake on a cold winter day was the most delicious drink I ever had. We were late to our reservation at Benoit (the French restaurant in the same hotel) and the staff recommended us to have lunch at k36. We were greeted with the full view of the pure water shrine, and the waitress handed us 2 heat pads almost immediately. Had pizza wedges and about 2 drinks which added to be over 9,000 yen. Food was ok but the atmosphere is bombz!”

“Beautiful restaurant at Pontocho, Kyoto’s famous district, with view of the river. This is one of the greatest “hole in the wall” kind of places that I’ve been to, as you walk into an old Japanese house in the inner block. The Japanese food is delicious, they have two sets I believe. Simple wine selection. We truly enjoyed ourselves”
