Pinolo Gelato

Closed until 12:00 PM

3707 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202, United States

“I always love coming here to check out their newest additions and seasonal flavors! The gelato is delicious, and they let you try them ALL with no complaints! The staff is super knowledgeable about all the options and are super friendly. They also have an espresso machine to serve a couple different coffee options and of course one of those is an Affogato! We ordered americanos because we had some cookies from a local bakery that we were going to enjoy with the gelato (yes, I know, sugar upon sugar…that’s how I roll). The coffee was not the best, but we expected that since it’s a gelato shop, not a coffee shop. I think their machine could use a hood servicing/cleaning as the coffee tasted pretty burnt and bitter. The dining area could really use some love. The furniture isn’t comfortable and definitely not enough seating for when it is busy so don’t be surprised if you have to take your gelato to go. But outside of the interior aesthetics lacking and the coffee not being amazing, this place is a must go!”

“My dining experience at Le Pigeon in Portland was truly exceptional. I had a reservation for dinner and opted for the tasting menu, which turned out to be an amazing choice. If you're visiting Portland, I highly recommend this experience. The atmosphere at Le Pigeon was fantastic, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. The food was nothing short of great, and each dish presented as part of the tasting menu was a culinary delight. What added to the experience was the wonderful service provided by our waitress. She took the time to explain each dish, enhancing our appreciation of the flavors and ingredients. Overall, dining at Le Pigeon was an outstanding experience, and it's a must-visit when you're in Portland.”

“I discovered Urdaneta years ago during Portland Dining Month and it is still, in my opinion, the best restaurant in town. The food is inspired, every time I go there's a new twist on a familiar dish. The flavors are out of this world and service is impeccable. It's like dining at a friend's house, one who is also an incredible artist in the kitchen. This is where I bring visiting friends and family when I want to showcase Portland's food scene. Just make sure to make a reservation, the place is popular and very small.”

“Excellent produce, and the dry goods shelves/meat & cheese counters have endless treasures. I can't resist the Napoleons and the lasagna in the deli case. Arrosto inside does an amazing roast chicken dinner with salad, potatoes and heavenly foccacia that is a good value. Love having this spot with walking distance!”

“A must try if you even remotely enjoy BBQ. This is the best BBQ in the Portland area, hands down. Everything was perfectly moist and tender, everything was seasoned expertly, and it was so filling. We intentionally didn’t eat anything before this so we’d show up hungry and we thought for sure we would devour every bite, but we still ended up taking home leftovers. You will not regret eating here, just be sure to get here early because they sell out of stuff fast!”

“Not a fan of plant-based anything but Kate's ice cream is amazing. I went with two friends and none of us had had plant-based ice cream like this before. The person attending to us gave each of them two different samples of their choice when we told her it was our first time. The ice cream was creamy and delicious, totally worth it. My cup was empty before I remembered reviews was a thing and that's an excellent thing. Update: It was good so I went back. Remembered to take pictures this time. Four different flavours. The Rose flavored one was excellent if you like roses- thought it was weird but a good weird.”

Ex Novo Brewing Co.
4.5
( 16 reviews ) $$

2326 N Flint Ave, Portland, OR 97227, United States

“Ex Novo Brewing Co. fought hard for their 3rd place position in our Top 5. Of the 8 beers we tried everything fell above the 3.5 mark with ease. Lucky for me, and not so much for Melissa, we visited at the start of “Fresh Hop” season. Fresh hop beers are exactly what they sound like and Ex Novo had several on tap already. Their Eliot IPA, our favorite from Ex Novo, came in two fresh hop varieties – Strata and Centennial from Goschie Farms about 50 minutes south of Portland. While the standard Eliot IPA sits at a 3.85 on Untappd, the Strata and Centennial fresh hops excel past 4.1 and are clearly local favorites judging by the comments sections. Ex Novo does offer beers other than IPA’s, but for hop heads, Ex Novo is a must visit late September thru early October. If you’re not a huge fan of hops, give the Cactus Wins the Lottery a shot. The easy drinking, 4.3% Berliner with prickly pear hits the spot on a warm September afternoon.”

“Phenomenal food. Seriously, this is a must try restaurant. The hummus was creamy, the salmon was cooked to perfection, the felafels were divine. Even the basmati rice alone was delicious. The service was a bit slow and not the friendliest but there was only guy working. I imagine he was a bit stressed. Overall, it was an amazing dinner and I would definitely recommend it. I am sure we will return.”

“Came in to celebrate purchase of a new home and citizenship naturalization. The server greeted us warmly. However, as she was serving drinks, the soda fell and splash all over on my friends. A quarter of the soda was gone, on my friend's shirt and pants. She apologized, but did not offer to replace our drink or do anything to amend it. Then, when we were eating the poussin (chicken), it was obviously undercooked with some blood inside, the server said she would take it back to (check). She came back asking if we want a new dish or recook it. Because we don't want to act like we're taking advantage of the situation, we said recooking is fine. But when she returned with the cooked dish, she not only did not admit that the chicken was undercooked nor apologize, but said that she checked and was sure that it was cooked. She's making it sounded like we're accusing them. We regretted that we did not take any photos. It's ok if the food is messed up, it happens, but having been a waiter myself, I really could not stand such an UNAPOLOGETIC attitude. Someone else left review about the same kind of unapologetic attitude as well. Dude, this is a high class French fine dining. We shouldn't be treated as such. When we get the bill, NOTHING was taken off as a token of apology, nothing. They even charged us for $2 for the bread refill. It sounded complimentary when she asked it, so we said yes. If something costs extra, make sure you ask if that's ok. Or don't even charge for that $2 thing. It just makes you look bad. If you want to charge us $300 for the meal, and you can't even take off a soda drink that's worth $5, then I wish you guys luck for staying open for a long time. Please re-train your server to make sure the appropriate courtesy is offered when you guys made MISTAKES. ADMIT it and DO something about it for Chris sake. Even though the food was good, but we will never come back here again nor recommend it to our friends. There are too many amazing restaurants in Portland to sacrifice the dining experience for us.”

“I took home the spicy pork bowl and boy was it worth it. It was enough food for two meals and it was rich, spicy, crunchy, all the things. It's on a cool part of Division and easy to find. The staff was really helpful in recommending what to order. So happy I stumbled upon this spot and will be returning.”

“Updated review Aug 2023: Still the best sandwich I've ever had. Prices have gone up a bit but still worth the trip from Olympia, WA. Original review July 2022: Took a day trip down to Portland. While there got a recommendation from a local store owner saying this was one of the best sandwich shops in town. Being skeptical we hesitantly decided to stop by. So glad we did! One of best sandwiches we've had in a long time. The place is not much to look at. Just a hole in a wall along a busy street with many store fronts but man... what an experience! Had the pulled pork sandwich. Ciabatta bun, perfectly toasted. Meat was tender and super flavorful. The BBQ sauces wasn't anything I've tasted before. The slaw also gave a bit of sweet & savory crunch in just the right places. Unique flavor and spot-on for a pulled pork if that's what you are in to. Just a fantastic sandwich overall. Didn't care for the pickles although we could tell they were homemade. Nothing wrong with them, just not our taste in pickles. We asked the gentleman at the counter what his favorite is. Said the #5 followed closely by the #1- pulled pork. Although a bit pricey, still highly recommend this sandwich shop. The To-go menu flyers doesn't reflect their new prices so go by the pic I took of the menu inside the store.”

“We visited this place to have lunch. Pretty cute place. We all ordered pasta specially I love pasta a lot. (one of us ordered pasta without noodle) Service was fine but quite slow. However, it's worth it. Their food was so good. For a long time, it is not easy to find a good pasta place and this place is amazing. If I live nearby, I definitely come here often.(I tried during my trip)”
