“I have to admit I was first shocked with another winery charging $30 for a flight. Thought to myself ‘this is out of hand’. But, I ended up warming up to the place. Brandon was very nice and the pouring was not ‘a few drops’ like some wineries do. We also got just one flight since my wife does not drink much at all. The setting is nice even if noisy due the 101 proximity. Wine are good. We did the state flight (not the Bible’s they are more famous for). These wines seemed unique, not what one buys in the groceries store.”

Parking isn't bad in the morning. Checked in on Yelp and got to redeem a free coffee. Our group all got breakfast items. Breakfast burrito and sandwiches. Coffees and cider. I had the yogurt granola bowl. It was good. Glad the granola didn't have coconut in it since I don't like that. The honey is a packet on top. It would be better if it was fresh local honey they have in a condiment cup instead of the packet. Also picked up a blueberry scone which was buttery and not dry at all. A must try.”

“This is a standard shop with a bit of a twist. Has a small bakery section, try the brownies they are awesome. They also do smoothies. I had the Thanksgiving sandwich, turkey lettuce and cranberry sauce on sourdough was very good. The order was taken promptly and food prepared rapidly.”

The main tasting rooms are set up beautifully, but we loved the seating arrangements they have outside, overlooking the amazing grounds, cordoned off with bamboo planters, shaded with cute red umbrellas ♥️ The staff were attentive and very informed. Loved all the little touches. The charcuterie box was beautifully assembled and added to the experience. The cold towels and spray bottles helped us cool off as we enjoyed the wine. The flight we tasted were amazing!! We walked off with multiple bottles of cab... Definitely on our list to revisit next time we're in the area.”

“Wonderful experience! I remember visiting Ancient Peaks Winery years ago when it was only a tasting room. Today, the tasting room has expanded, and now includes a full restaurant with a great selection of options, as well as the wines to taste or by the glass. The wines are well made, and there are a sizable selection of different varieties (including now three Italian varieties) at a wide range of price points for all budgets. The tasting room is welcoming and friendly, and the service has always been exceptional. Santa Margarita is just 15 minutes from San Luis Obispo, but the little town seems like a throwback to another era, and you can sit outside on the patio and enjoy the small town feel. Our server shared with us the interesting history of the land and soils of the Santa Margarita Ranch, including fossilized oyster shells that help deliver some of the characteristic flavors of the wines we tasted. Definitely worth a visit.”

“Great range of wines, white and red, and we were heavily recommended by many folks about J. Lohr. Overall wine tasting experience was excellent, friendly and helpful folks. We did the Legacy and Winter Seasonal indoors as it was cold 1st week of January, yes both tastings and they were amazing. Our group loved the remodel of the indoor wine tasting room as we have tried to go in the past and they did a wonderful job. Took a picture of the menu of the Winter Seasonal. Hope that helps anyone, seasonal was 20 dollars and Legacy was 40? (I think). 2 bottle purchases wipe the tasting fee as in most places. Always recommend to reserve ahead of time. If you join the wine club and live further north, you can also align with the San Jose location for pickups of your wine! Other tips, it was baby friendly. Parking was easy, right off the main road. They didn't have a charcuterie board, but maybe that was due to 1st week of January, but maybe check. Go, visit, and enjoy the great wine of J.Lohr!!!”
