“My husband and I have dined at Millwrights on the bridge and in the tavern a number of times, but our most recent experience blew us away. We sat in the dining room for our anniversary and the attention to detail to make us feel special made our night feel like a dream. The service, food, drinks and views were impeccable (and I have to add that we are both difficult to impress). We ordered the short rib and duck breast and both agreed it was the best we’d ever had. Millwrights also sources their food locally which is something we both greatly appreciate. We look forward to our next visit, thank you for taking care of us!”

“Finally ended up at a place I can order fried clams from. Luckily, we got here early, because apparently you really should have reservations because they get busy and fill up quickly. So, they ended up having some room at the bar for us to sit down and eat. Mikki was behind the bar and she was just awesome. She was friendly and attentive, and at the same time, a busy & a very hard worker. She is impressive… Once we were seated, we were quickly served some tasty bread. Our meals were pretty good, although I order fried clams and wished they were a little crispier, but I never complain & send food back. I don’t think it’s a good idea and don’t trust it, so I tend to go with the flow. The coleslaw was very good. I had a couple of beers and they were both ice-cold. Besides the restaurant, there’s a market on the other side, where you can purchase fresh seafood items to take home, or wherever…”

“If you are on a road trip along 84, you must stop here. It’s a little out of your way but worth it. You can get a more quintessential taste of American than this diner. The moment we walked in, locals were chatting with the workers behind the counter and one of the employees looks at the car we pulled up in and says “you are not from around here” and proceeds to talk to us. Based on recommendations we got the hot pastrami mikes burger onion rings and a milk shake. Everything was delicious and priced reasonably. My kind of place.”

“I recently came with my two boys to pick up our order. On the way out my son dropped the freshly baked pizza right in front of the counter! The ladies at the counter made him feel better and they made us another fresh pizza. They are so nice here. The food is made with that same amount of love and care. The pizza sauce is tangy and sweet, the toppings are fresh and the crust is light and baked to a light golden brown. I love broccoli on my pizza and each time it's still crunchy and lightly seasoned. Don't forget the onion strings and the salads, they are terrific! I love this place. Try it, I'm sure you will too. Support our local businesses.”

“Customer service is lacking. Second time I have been in the store and had the same cashier, she is an older woman who is rude. I was purchasing a pizzelle maker, the first thing out of her mouth was you know this is not returnable right?!? I was confused as to why I was greeted that way, as I had no intention of returning it. I was told that the lasagna noodles with a sticker saying $3.19 were actually $5.99. I did not question it. It appears new staff is needed to make sure the proper price stickers ate on items and to make sure they have better customer service. I will not be back.”

“I stopped here today to grab myself a Scotts’ Jamaican Bakery beef patty right from the source as I was passing through. The staff was efficient and was able to get me in & out quickly. My Jamaican beef patty was probably the best one I’ve ever had in my life! The area could/does get sketchy at times... There is a cooler inside with items for sale to go, that are in somewhat of a bulk packaging, which is pretty cool.”

“Excellent pie. I know it’s probably sacrilegious to say, but it’s a very good NY style pie. I only tried the NY style (aka New Haven style) but they also have a grandma and a Detroit. The NY was very good - nice crisp, cracked but held, great sauce and high quality cheese. The only reason I have it a 4 was because the middle was soft/floppy (wasn’t stretched with the right consistency. Overall a great pie!”

“I’m super happy a plant based casual dining option is available in the Hartford area. Everyone was super friendly and the menu options are laid out for you very simply. There’s tons to choose from, they have bowls, burgers, sandwiches and so much more to offer. I ended up getting the cheeseburger. Honestly, if you didn’t tell me this was a vegan burger I wouldn’t have noticed the difference. It was super flavorful. I loved the fact that I didn’t feel gross or stuffed after finishing it like a regular burger. It’s good meat without the grease which is why I love vegan takeout restaurants. My biggest gripe was the price. It was 15 dollars for just the burger with no sides. It’ll probably cost you around 23 or 24 bucks for a full meal which is unfortunate. But definitely worth checking out, just be prepared to spend a little more than your normal shake shack outing.”
