“Lovely restaurant in the Main Street in Cockermouth. The owner and his wife as well as their service are friend and helpful. The food was very good! Having just been in Turkey 6 months ago, I must say the food in this restaurant was better than in Turkey. We ordered a few starters and mains and everything was absolutely delicious! My personal favorites were: sigara boregi (filo pastry rolls filled with feta), Ali nazik kebab (lamb kebabs on a bed of aubergine and pepper yogurt). For dessert, the Antem Katmer is one of the best desserts I’ve tried! Will definitely be back!”

“Thank you Jackie for taking our last minute request to book a table for lunch at 1215pm on new year's eve. Our trip was very last minute, and to be able to get an immediate booking was fantastic. Our train from Lancaster arrived just after midday and we were sat at our window table straight away. Fabulous service and our lunch food was lovely, generous portions, and quality was outstanding. Turkey brie and cranberry baguette and the Christmas turkey stuffing etc baguette were delicious. And we really didn't need the chips but they were lovely too. Highly recommended before and/or after a trip to the steam train. Can't wait to return again in spring/summer.”

“Lovely pub with fantastic food. We were staying close by and phoned on the off-chance they had space that evening. We were happy to sit outside as we had our dog with us and we were fitted in. When we arrived they had sorted the table outside in advance with cutlery and an umbrella up. Service was excellent and the food was unbelievable!! Clearly home cooked, freshly prepared and large portions. Had the chicken and Ham pie, Steak and Ale pie, Fish and Chips and Gammon. For dessert we had Sticky Toffee pudding and Mars Bar Cheesecake (the days special). Would recommend all the food, but special mentions for the 'full to bursting pies' and both the desserts. Would definitely go back when we visit the Lake District again. Update - we returned this week. Food was just as good, service was quick and friendly. The steak and ale pie was just as good, and the katsu curry was very nice. For dessert the chocolate cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding were still fantastic and very reasonably priced at just £6.50.”

We were served by the most pleasant, friendly and helpful member of staff (sorry I did not get her name). She said they were shot staffed and had been working on her own for a lot of the last two days, but she could not have been a better representative of your company. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁”

“Ambleside was reasonably busy straight after the new year. We were hoping to go for a Thai meal but one was shut and the other fully booked up. In the end we were happy with every aspect of this Indian restaurant. From starters to main course everything was good. Would recommend, and if back walking in the Lakes would come back here.”

“Wow, we have just had a delightful meal in Akhi. Highly recommend the Tropical Biriyani, I like my curry with a slight kick so asked for some chilli to be added. It was so tasty. My partner had the lamb shashlick, also really good. The Naan bread is homemade and really fresh. You can take your own alcohol, and glasses are provided. The service was great and staff friendly. If you are staying in Grange over Sands and love a curry, well worth visit”

“I'm not sure what happened here but this isn't £9 worth of "large" chicken kebab. Also ordered a shish kebab wrap, which arrived so cold and wet I could wring it out. Update: called to complain and the person we spoke to basically argued and told us we were wrong and that we should expect cold, wet soggy food. For 20 minutes. So, enjoy your one star. We won't be ordering from here again and, unless you want cold soggy food, suggest you don't either.”
