The Rugglestone Inn
4.7
( 10 reviews )

Widecombe in the Moor, Newton Abbot TQ13 7TF, United Kingdom

“Fantastic little pub tucked on the edge of Dartmoor. Very cosy and quintessential, exactly what you want after a wet walk on the moors with some friends. We were a tad early for food but the two lovely ladies behind the bar served us drinks and sorted a table before taking our order to have it ready as soon as service was on. 5 awesome Beef and Ale pies led to 5 clean plates, washed down with a great selection of local beer. Hard to beat it for a Sunday activity. Can’t wait to go again!”

“Visited this lovely restaurant with friends who had used it many times before and was not disappointed. Food was fabulous, service was excellent all freshly produce on the day and home made. I had to the rack of lamb which was cooked to perfection, the fish pie was excellent with large pieces of fish and very tasty and excellent portion sizes the desserts were also very good. I Would highly recommend this gem to anybody who is looking for quality fresh food in a lovely setting.”

Station Rd, Bampton, Tiverton EX16 9NG, United Kingdom

“Both the food & the service were fantastic. I would definitely recommend & go again. A larger party we sat upstairs & brought the dog which wasn’t a problem. Really reasonably priced too, £240 for 9 mains, 4 starters, 4 desserts & drinks including alcohol. My one comment would be that there was no kids menu. But they did have childrens food. We got the sausage & chips but it came with no vegetables which seemed weird. The Hake was the best I have ever had. The burger is MASSIVE & my teen said the Chicken Kiev was the best meal she’s ever had in a pub.”

Timaru Gardens, Warren Rd, Dawlish Warren EX7 0NG, United Kingdom

“Cannot give this place enough praise, and we recommend it to everyone we know. Really truly delicious excellent quality food, so fresh and so tasty. Service is good, and the shop is always stocked with nice treats for your stomach and home! Even if you aren't a fan of mushrooms (which is sacrilege I may add), there's something for everyone on the menu. Bonus points as it's dog friendly, we can't keep away. Level access for wheelchair users and always very accommodating in terms of access. Parking is limited and there isn't a designated disabled parking bay, but we have always managed to park somehow.”

The Cowick Barton, 121 Cowick Ln, Exeter EX2 9HF, United Kingdom

“Had a visit for Sunday lunch, very good and fresh. The trio of meats is the way to go. Great customer service and lovely play park for the kids (a big reason for our visit). My only grumble was £6 a pint. Happy to visit again when we are in the area.”

The Grove Inn

“We had a very enjoyable evening meal here. The food and service were both very good. The treacle tart was amazing! Parking is a bit limited and I would recommend booking a table as it gets busy.”

Black Horse

Longbrook St, Exeter EX4 6AB, United Kingdom

“Trying to visit different real ale pubs in Exeter and found this one. It's a sports bar, not our favourite, but the choice of ales was good even though they weren't really to my liking. Settled on the Yardbird in the end which was ok. Good service from the enthusiastic bar staff though. Its a vast pub and although we didn't have food the fare coming out looked really good and was very reasonably priced. Well patronised and obviously a popular pub....”

Farmhouse

Churchill Rd, Exmouth EX8 4JJ, United Kingdom

“Went with the family for an impromptu lunch. Main meals were fairly decent on the whole, although the peas on my plate were cold and rock hard. Garlic bread on another plate was small and soggy, which was a poor excuse of a paid extra! Biggest issue was desserts, with the ‘sharer’ dessert coming so small and of general overall poor quality it would barely feed one. The dessert for a child was a small square of brownie cut in half and served with a teaspoon of melted ice cream. When we spoke to the staff about this, they originally said it was not right but then the person, we’re assuming a manager, got involved to say that’s the portion size and basically tough luck if we were unhappy. No apology, but was happy to undermine her staff and the customer. A poor visit and one which would make me question going back…”

“What a lovely pub, staff so helpful and polite, the food was amazing I had Hunters Chicken with a twist the chicken breast was southern fried so had a great crunch to it. The other was a mixed grill large, also enjoyed not by me of course lol.”

The Castle Inn
4.5

The Castle, Castle Hill, Axminster EX13 5NN, United Kingdom

“We were warmly welcomed by Sharon and Paul into their traditional pub, a great start particularly after the wet miserable weather outside. The menu had such variety and catered for everyone. We had curried parsnip soup and whitebait then I had Moussaka and hubby had hunters’ chicken - both delicious. We even played ‘shut the box’ (they have a wide selection of games to use) while we waited for the chicken to be cooked from fresh. Altogether it was a lovely evening.”

Fremington Quay

Fremington, Barnstaple EX31 2NH, United Kingdom

“Food is delicious. We’ve been several times before for their baguettes and they are amazing. Yesterday we had their breakfast and it didn’t disappoint, great quality and huge portion (we couldn’t finish ours!). We will be back soon for a slice of cake, as all the cakes in the counter looked to die for. The only thing we would say was that the room was a bit cold, regardless the fireplace being lit, so additional heating in the winter would be appreciated.”
